Montmartre has a special feeling to it with music playing in the streets and street artists everywhere it has quite a Bohemian feel.In the mid-19th century, artists such as Johan Jongkind and Camille Pissarro came to inhabit the area. At the end of the century the district became the principal artistic center of Paris. Artists who inhabited and worked in Montmartre included Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

This guy was sculpting chalk. Each piece was the size of one single piece of chalk. He then displayed them in a small glass tube. I bought one. I got it home safely and still hae it on my desk 15 years later.

We left Bruno's usual kennel at home for our trip to the cabin, so used this exercise pen instead. It's 4 feet high. When we returned from a family trip for ice cream he greeted us at the door, even though the pen was still locked and we were sure we had put him in there. During his freedom he had peed on the kid's bed and pooped on a fan. Yup, the poop hit the fan. Fortunately it was the base of the fan and the fan was off at the time.

So we thought it was a one time thing and the next day he went in the pen while the family went out for a paddle board. When we came back - he greeted us at the door again. No presents on the bed or fan this time.

Now what would good dog owners do but put him back in the pen and watch. Turns out escape was a simple process for our little Houdini.

It happens that the Studio 26 assignment was x-typchs. I knew this was my subject, but had a hard time narrowing down the photos. As you can hear from the video I took a few. In the end I think 4 photos tells the story rather well, without being overwhelming.

A video of this great escape is linked in the comments.

Dave: Hey Bruno, where are you going?

Bruno: Jail break! No walls can confine me!

Dave: Really? You're going to be an escape artist.

Bruno: Yup. Being locked in this cage is simply intolerable. It's like a horror show in there.

Dave: I thought it was an open exercise pen with soft carpeted floor with a nice towel and a good view of the lake.

Bruno: Yup. Really a substandard situation.

Dave: I think you may be setting your standards a little high. You're a new puppy who has yet learned to pee outside and likes to chew electrical cords. Kennel training is apparently a good thing to help you learn the house rules.

Bruno: Can't talk. Busy escaping.

Dave: And what is the plan when you do escape?

Bruno: Do what I do best - lounge on the bed like the magnificent beast that I am.

Dave: And that's it?

Bruno: Nope. I'll let you humans hang with me too, unless you'd prefer to spend a bit of time in an open exercise pen with carpeted floor, a towel and a nice view of the lake.

amazed by the "Trinity" work by the spanish artist Ribera, i created this dehumanized figure suspended in the air, immersed in darkness.

I can't think of a more rewarding job than being a Photographer.

Here is one of today's rewards

"The Artist", At 95 years old he told me that he plans to retire next year.

This photo was lit with one 400 w battery strobe into a 12 x 36 in strip box just to camera left, a speedlight with a bounce card was place behind the artist to give separation and to light the painting in the background.

A very talented street artist playing on botles filled with different levels of water. This guy really know what he was doing.

Montmartre is a large hill in Paris's 18th arrondissement. It is 130 m (430 ft) high and gives its name to the surrounding district, part of the Right Bank in the northern section of the city. The historic district established by the City of Paris in 1995 is bordered by rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine on the north, rue de Clignancourt on the east, and boulevard de Clichy and boulevard de Rochechouart to the south. Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, and as a nightclub district. (7/21/2013)

…and UK here refers to the Indian state, Uttarakhand and not United Kingdom as you thought on first instance. :D

Well, she had a pretty smile and her jewellery and the attire were just stunning! Look at that big nose ring she is wearing! I was told that on special occasions, according to the tradition and culture, married women in Uttarakhand wear that big nose ring which is called the ‘Nath’. Black beaded garland on their neck is considered to be the pious symbol of leading a married life for a woman. The Golden necklace which she is wearing is known as Hansuli.

This National Youth Festival being held in Amritsar proved to be a glorious event for me. I came to know a lot about different cultures from my own country. I met people from far away lands and interacting with them was such a delight. I am thankful to all the students and artists who made this occasion a memorable one for me and who tolerated me around them and let me shoot to my heart’s content. :-)
