A different year and a different shoreline. The change in the lake level brings a whole new perspective to the area. A photo at this spot last year did not have any of the rocks except for the big one. Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada.

... and some black ...

HFF folks ... right after I took this shot, someone looked out of the window to the left, and demanded to know why I was taking photos of their house, I mumbled something about 'nice shadows'.. the perils of shooting a fence shadow!

I've uploaded the same image, with and without, to dispel the myth that textures are added to make up for lousy photography. you know who you are! actually, it's fun, creative, addictive and well worth giving it a try.

Macro Monday - Relaxation

HMM

Good morning and happy Friday everyone! I'm thrilled because it is a long weekend AND, guess what, I have no plans or obligations. Doesn't get any better then that.

Just anther photo from Change Islands. Wish I could go there this weekend but yeah....I'll settle for chilling out at home.

Take care all and have a great weekend!!!

The oaks and the pines, and their brethren of the wood, have seen so many suns rise and set, so many seasons come and go, and so many generations pass into silence, that we may well wonder what “the story of the trees” would be to us if they had tongues to tell it, or we ears fine enough to understand.

I took this photo of Sethi for the Happy Caturday theme "Black & White". Sethi had to volunteer because mono works best for the tabbies (Tofu looks like a ghost in black and white). I always love other people's b&w photos and never like my own but I did my best (although Sethi wasn't convinced). :) Happy Caturday !

Highs and Lows

Sometimes it feels like

The sun won’t come out tomorrow

Sometimes it feels like

There’s no harder time than right now

But it’ll be alright

‘Cause happiness can be borrowed

From the stranger next to you

If all they share is a smile

Shake, shake off the cold

Shake off the dust, break with the old

Make no mistake, this too shall pass

All of your woes, will turn into laughs

Just keep the faith, stay on the path

Give what you take, don’t dwell on the past

Eyes on the prize, don’t lose sight of your goals

All of the highs, come with the lows

Sometimes it feels like

What’s been broke can’t be mended

Sometimes it feels like

There’s only one way out

But somewhere deep inside

A fire burns unattended

All you need’s a spark from it

To turn this whole thing around

Shake, shake off the cold

Shake off the dust, break with the old

Make no mistake, this too shall pass

All of your woes, will turn into laughs

Just keep the faith, stay on the path

Give what you take, don’t dwell on the past

Eyes on the prize, don’t lose sight of your goals

All of the highs, come with the lows

Sometimes it feels like

You’ve lost every inch of your soul

That it was more than you can take

Or more than you can handle

But instead you just learned how to grow

It’s easier each time

You’ll build upon the struggle

You only know highs from the lows

And with some faith you’ll find

Your way to the brighter side

Shake, shake off the cold

Shake off the dust, break with the old

Make no mistake, this too shall pass

All of your woes, will turn into laughs

Just keep the faith, stay on the path

Give what you take, don’t dwell on the past

Eyes on the prize, don’t lose sight of your goals

All of the highs, come with the lows

All you can do is

Shake, shake off the cold

Shake off the dust, break with the old

Make no mistake, this too shall pass

All of your woes, will turn into laughs

Just keep the faith, stay on the path

Give what you take, don’t dwell on the past

Eyes on the prize, don’t lose sight of your goals

All of the highs, come with the lows

The Macro Mondays theme for 2/27 is textures and there is an album of ones I gathered together and photographed!! 16 of them!! Was going to dither but my DD took him down from the shelf and gather him a bath and he’s just SO cute and cheery!!

…….I’ll put up the size verification in a bit. This part of him is 2” from side to side

As a side note: I am in the 26th month of a 6 month experiment, taking pictures with my iPhone, and *this* week I learned about using the AE/AF lock to create bokeh!! That’s made me inordinately happy!! There is a blue bokeh picture in the album- or a few pics down from this happy apple guy.

And the snow has arrived here ....

Although back from two days of fever, I could not resist (not tell anyone) lol

It snowed for two hours, the time to go out and come back and the snow was gone ; ( At each step I took forward, puffy white trees, let slip a shower of snow / water. I also had to bring your umbrella. And by the umbrella, gloves, hat and layered clothing as a cake, it was not easy to maneuver the camera. But fun : ))

Tomorrow looks like it will snow again, thinks the winter to stop us, and I must say that sometimes I'm not sorry.....

Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, Washington

The loop I hiked on Sunday has a spur trail with access to the Middle Fork section of the Snoqualmie River, one of six rivers in Washington that has a federal “Wild and Scenic” designation. (Another of the six is the nearby Pratt River, which flows into the Snoqualmie a few miles upstream.)

This is a beautiful section of river that winds its way through the Snoqualmie National Forest and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness areas. This time of year the flow is low and mellow - in the Spring when snowmelt runoff is at its peak, the water levels can run fast and high and cover most of the rocks that are visible currently. But at the end of summer it was a lovely spot to sit and listen to the sound of the flowing water, bask in the sunshine, and wade in the shallows.

The other “wild” part about this area is the crazy directions and angles at which the trees on the opposite river bank are leaning! The North Bend area is notoriously windy in the fall and winter, so my guess is that this is probably due to the winds that roar through here.

Small and Smaller for Macro Mondays

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Looking close on Friday is blue and green. Isn’t that awesome ? For once all my daily challenges are working together !!

At first, I had a very different picture in mind but then I found this green pushpin in my props suitcase (it is more like a tool box than a stylish suitcase)… So why not ? This pushpin is green and I have some cool blue felt for a background and voilà :-) ! I hope you will like it my friends !!

Have a beautiful day !! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!

FYI: because of my renovation project I have to, constantly, move our stuff from one room to another on a very short notice !! This cat walked around the neighborhood all day and night seeking shelter. The next day my neighbor posted a photo of the cat on Facebook and in less than two hours she was back in her warm home ... two miles from our neighborhood. At first, I thought she was one of my neighbor's cats, because she has like three.

Thank you very much for the kind comments and faves, much appreciated!🙋‍♀️

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and I’m very grateful for my photographic archives ! Since we are officially in the « green zone », we had a surprise visite from my parents yesterday… Of course we had plenty to celebrate since I hit my Apple Watch monthly goal of 469,4 km ! Yes, my friends : I did it ! Unfortunately my feet feel like the seashell in my picture and I’m not sure if I will be able to walk tomorrow but tonight I feel awesome !

I just have one very annoying question on my mind: what is the next challenge ?? Honestly this one was very hard to complete and I’m not sure I will be able to walk more lol. I guess we will have to wait until midnight to know the next challenge…

I apologize for not answering all you awesome comments, I had too much wine tonight … I will catch up as soon as possible my friends ! I’m still on vacation, so that is my excuse for now ;-) !

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day my friends!! See you later!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr!!

I have tried to delay the frosts, I have coaxed the fading flowers, I thought I could detain a few of the crimson leaves until you had smiled upon them; but their companions call them, and they cannot stay away.

I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D

After a while, you learn the subtle difference

between holding a hand and chaining a soul

and you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning

and company doesn’t always mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts

and presents aren’t promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today

because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,

and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns

if you get too much, so you plant your own garden

and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure, you really are strong, you really do have worth...

and you learn

and you learn

with every goodbye, you learn!

This is (now) my local crag, and the place my dear old Dad first took me climbing 14 years ago. I often pop up for sunset because it's frustratingly hard to photograph, and I'm never happy with my images!

This made me laugh happy though. Incredible how far we've come in a matter of months:
