A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.
- Proverbs 17:17
My brother when we were kids used to speak about these big words.
But I think he was missing the point. I can't blame him, we were very young.
Now that we are three decades older, I know he can see that after
the hundreds of friends we had...
it is us, the five of us, who have stood at each other side
at our lowest... in adversity.
...come to me, when I hold tight
the little control knob of my delight~
my camera lens has you well within sight..
This was a real capture, processed into BW in PS CS4. No special effects added.
The shadow lines are caused by the sun coming up over a mountain, shining slanted rays of light down into the valley, which are caught in the fog. These line, of course, are visible to the naked eye (natch).
Short answer: Awesome!
Wish you all a very nice and sunny weekend, stay safe

Prequel:
Eden is a girl who prizes truth and nobility of spirit above all else including riches... she has had a very privileged upbringing though so she has never had to want for anything in her life... except a mother. Her mother died from a post natal infection* shortly after Eden was born and she was brought up by her father on his own. Now they have moved to a horse ranch in the Rockies, Eden is hoping that he will meet someone special...
*Her father and mother, a talented obstetrician, were doing Voluntary Service Overseas when her mother fell pregnant. Her mother insisted on giving birth in the same conditions as the local women, with tragic consequences...
...so, Rory is the father I have in mind for Eden <3 He is a hugely talented horse veterinarian and a horse lover just like his daughter. Having had a very high flying career taking care of some of the top horses in international horse racing and travelling the world, he is tired of living such a fast paced existence and above all feels he needs to give Eden some roots. His wife was beautiful, talented, feisty stubborn... he misses her terribly. He has raised Eden entirely on his own but now she is sixteen and he wants her to have a more settled existence.
When he is not riding one of his beloved horses he likes to take to the mountain passes on his Honda Valkyrie Motorbike... yes, he has a few 'boy toys'!
Will he find love in the small community he and Eden have chosen to settle in...? I have two candidates in mind for his love interest, who are quite a contrast to each other...
If I say it in May, I might seem impatient. If it’s next June, it’s obvious you’ll be busy..

Hope you're not getting bored of Robins - here is another recent shot from my local walks. This one looked particularly well groomed.

In the forge again armed with the Nikon Z6 and a Nikkor 105mm f/1.8 AI-S.
The lens came from fleabay as a box of parts. The previous (late) owner pulled it down and was apparently unable to rebuild it. Such a shame for the guy - the lens has around 5mm of left hand thread that works counter to the helicoid. If you don't know it's there you just can't see how it's put together.
He'd clearly given it everything to get it apart, drilled holes, mounted it in a vice, given it heaps with a pipe wrench etc... As it was I had to heat it with the propane torch to get it to let go and then spend several hours lapping the slightly deformed helicoid with toothpaste before cleaning and re-greasing to make the focus smooth as silk again.
The optical block was perfect. Fabulous lens to use in the forge. Plenty fast and just the right length to get in tight but not get in the way.
This frame is a discard from a series for publication that I'm also working on a palette for.

I find her to be such a striking girl. She's an interesting juxtaposition of haughty coolness and warm sensuality.

Or "home in the warm".
This weekend was gloriously bright and sunny, but numbingly cold to be out walking. It was good to get home to warm croissants and coffee.
Hello my friend! This morning is gorgeous, isn’t it?

The last few seeds to parachute off of this ornamental grass seed head...set against Winter's tones and fleeting light. Always love the elegance and symmetries of the underlying structures of plants.
I have not taken many shots over the last few weeks and as Spring is casting her soft veil over Bondi I have been doing a spring clean of the 'archives' - so interesting for me to go back to my early photos from when I started late last year. I had no idea of when I got my first camera what I was going to take shots of , all I knew is that I wanted to start. I called myself Rosiebondi as it seemed simple when I signed up to flickr and I had no idea that I would fall head over heels in love in a whole new way with the area that I live in and the beaches and even more so the ocean which I have always loved being close to and being in.
This shot was taken on one of the first days that I brought my camera to the beach and took shot after shot and when I got home and uploaded the shots I suddenly really understood the photographic term 'capture' . When I look at this particular shot , there is a point right where the wave is curling that I get lost in and where time stands still and where, to me, the very soul of the ocean expresses itself. Since that day I have been captured by photography and specifically taking shots of the ocean, the light and the beach - I am a very willing and happy slave :).
Located in Southern Alberta, the Bethlehem Luthern Church of Dalum is a favourite prairie church of mine, still seeing useful activity. This early 1900's Danish architecture is magnificent every season, it's impossible to drive past the Dalum intersection where it proudly stands without walking the area. It's attention grabbing for you'll discover little else in the area.
I can only imagine it decorated within a wintery hoar frost afternoon, the reds blazon against those pure snow whites. That's another prairie chapter.
[Dalum is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada. It is situated 15 kilometres south of Drumheller, Alberta, at the intersection of Highway 569 and Highway 56, at an elevation of 875 meters (2,871 ft). It was established by a Danish group called the Dansk Folksamfund. The settlement is located in census division No. 5 and in the federal riding of Crowfoot. It is administered by Wheatland County.]

Another sunset seascape for you all. There were some good waves, not particularly big but enough to keep the rocks wet (and very slippery) so reflect the light from the sunset. I welcome criticisms, so if you feel anything could have been improved, don´t hold back.
I have officially made the move to Lightroom 4, after a month trial period I just made the purchase. Its a very impressive program. I never thought you could improve on LR3 but the new version just blows me away.

Season of Touit - picture 17
Week 41, Wednesday
I’ve been using the Zeiss Touit 2.8/50M in different scenarios and while it is a lens with great versatility, it is also difficult to come up with right kind of pictures that demonstrates its marvelous macro capabilities and still be interesting enough from photography’s point of view. To demonstrate these macro capabilities I wanted to do at least one picture at minimum focusing distance just to have a concrete example how close one can get with 2.8/50M and what kind of magnification does it offer. So here is a regular housefly, the most common of all domestic flies at minimum focusing distance (and as filthy as they tend to be in the real world visible with human eyes). I had to approach this one very carefully not to scare it away and because of that I cannot say this picture is exactly at minimum focusing distance, but it’s there at least by 95 percent (the fly was about 8 mm long and I’ve cropped the picture just a little bit for better composition). I kind of like how this turned out even with as ordinary subject as this. With the original unresized file one can see individual photoreceptor units of the fly’s compound eyes and expect even greater details with newer sensors like the 24 mpix sensor inside the Sony Alpha 6000 (I’m working with older generation Sony Nex-5N which only has 16 mpix sensor). Not only does this picture exemplify the Touit 2.8/50M’s great 1:1 reproduction scale, it also shows how nicely the lens resolves even at aperture of f/14 where most other lenses would already had a diffraction kicked in. Also, notice the very smooth and buttery background bokeh which I absolutely love with this lens.
Looking at this picture as a simple photograph it brings up an interesting recollection from my childhood in me. Being a five or six years old I remember sitting in from of TV and watching a nature documentary about houseflies. The voice from documentary told that houseflies are very difficult to kill with a flyswatter because they see much larger field with their compound eyes and perceive time differently. Then the documentary showed a slow motion scene of typical apartment room where woman is trying to kill a fly with the flyswatter. Everything is slowed down to extreme and I remember seeing at least a flickering TV-screen and some people talking with their pitch lowered to unrecognizable sounds. Then the woman swings her hand with flyswatter and it takes from 10 to 20 seconds – of course she misses and the fly gets away. For some reason I remember that the claim about fly’s different perception of time had to do something about having so much more eyes than human. Despite of being all grown up today this sort of question of subjective perception of time has certainly fascinated me ever sense. Particularly one thing in this slow motion analogy intrigues me: it makes it look like the fly sees outside world in ‘slow motion’, but at the same time is able to think and reason within its inner cognitive world in ‘standard time’ – otherwise the explanation that the flyswatter misses because the fly has so much more time to see it and react to it, would be false. This sort of paradox of two different times filled up my mind as a child, but today I see it just a bad example of popularization of science. However, I’m still not sure how one should conceptualize it, but I’m pretty sure – if the phenomenon exist – it has nothing to do with eyes. Still, makes me wonder how this particular fly perceived me photographing it in that particular moment..

Pictured left to right are Gortok, a Phantom Guard, Mia, Empress Xyndera, a Phantom Guard and Heir Aybel.
Here, Xyndera is pictured with the reforged sword of the Gazuman King Zurgoth. It was broken in his legendary duel with the Captain of the Vieran King's Guard during the war for Attenor in 50AV. The shards were retrieved by Cassandrian physicians and brought back to the library. Now, the sword is carried as a symbol of the intelligence of the most learned scholar in Cassandria. It was Xyndera's fathers before her. Aybel is pictured wearing the Eagle's Helm. This helmet was once worn by the last pure white-haired pure Vieroccan High Chief over 500 years ago. Since then, it sat above Attenor's throne, waiting for the next worthy Vieroccan to wear it.
Gortok is an Orc that was very young when he was kidnapped from the Plains of Bones by the Phantom Guards in 710AV. This was done on the orders of Xyndera's father. He sought to study the orc, to raise him as a human so he could fully understand the limits of their race's civility and intelligence. When Xyndera's father died in 720AV, she took over the study. Gortok is incredibly loyal to Xyndera, seeing her as his sister, but there are very few people that trust him. Several times, the Empress has had to stop executions of her orc friend. In recent years, since Oberajhi has had his sights on Esterdame, he has become more interested in Gortok. He knows the importance of the orcs on the peninsula and that the Attonights can't hope to fight the men, Vieran and Orcs all together. Oberajhi has proposed inserting Gortok back into Orc society so that he can convince the Orcs to attack Vierathan in full force from the north, while the Attonights attack from the south. Xyndera is not keen on this plan because regardless of Gortok's immense strength and size, she believes he would not be able to function in an orc camp, as he's been raised by humans.
Mia is a mountain lion from the mountains south of the Bloody March. She was collected as a cub and gifted to Oberajhi by the scholars of Cassandria as part of the wedding ceremony, because his love of cats is well known. Oberajhi trained the cat to guard his wife whenever he isn't around.
The Phantom Order was established at the same time as the library of Cassandria. The order began as a group of scholars whose mission was to go out into the world and collect knowledge of any kind. As the knowledge began to amass, the order transitioned into being a group of warriors whose mission was to defend the knowledge within the library. The Phantoms are traditionally the children of older Phantom Guards and female scholars and scribes who live in the library and have sworn off marriage. They wear white face paint to distinguish themselves and they are highly respected fighters. It is partly due to their commitment that the Island of Cassandria has never been successfully invaded. When a scholar of great prominence, like Xyndera, leaves the library, the Phantom Guard are responsible for protecting them, and more importantly, the knowledge that they hold in their minds.

Sunsets are not a rare commodity
they come and go every night
so i compare you not to a sunset
for you come once in a life
your beauty surpases the colors of the sky
painted anew each night by angels on high
for god himself has sculpted you
he made it so your only seen by few
and you do not hide from the moon
as all the sunsets do
rather you shine bright under its silver light
and you dance all night
you do far more than any sunset would
more breathtaking than any sunset could
sunsets have moved and inspired all man kind since forever
but you move me each moment, to a love that sunsets could never

An abandoned McDonalds cup is left at the foot of the busy slope leading to what used to be the Pallasades Shopping Centre located above Birmingham New Street station.
Never the most appealing of malls you barely encountered daylight from the moment you entered to the moment you left. In the last few years it has been significantly redeveloped into a much brighter, airy and open environment and was reopened in September 2015 under the name "Grand Central". As well as John Lewis, you'll find some decent snack places, including a sushi spot if that sort of thing takes your fancy.

Swallows fly in random and dynamic path, like a bullet but randomly changing direction. It's hard to get them in the frame, and if did, then an instant auto-focus is a must to capture a clear image on its maneuver in air. Photographing fast moving bird not only is an excitement in art but also an opportunity to relook into science (aerodynamic). I guess that’s one of the reward in birding. Hope you like this one. As always, thank you for the comment and/or faves.
