I normally don't like to mess with iconic and life-changing natural wonders. But, in my dreams...this is the incredible Monument Valley of northern Arizona. Everyone should go there just once.

call me Michael I like your suggestion to crop out the sky, Michael, it does emphasize the subject, and unfortunately the sky that day was very plain.
This is a photo of three colourful vertical stripes whose florescent intensity strongly differentiates them from the background of light blue cracked paint. The striking contrast was created by the application of a preset in Photomatix. I love the effect. The actual stripes are painted on a storage shed on the Yarmouth bar, and are more matte in appearance.
I am photographing things that I normally wouldn't as an exercise to spark not only creativity, BUT to also sharpen my minds eye.

Beyond our earthly bounds, in a dimension unfamiliar, we find reflections of ourselves, brilliantly alien and yet intimately familiar.
I stacked this image with 3 different exposures to improve my dynamic range, combined in Lightroom. Exposure and color contrast adjustments to represent the natural image also in Lightroom. This shot was actually supposed to be of the larger/closer portion of the San Juans to the right. Heavy clouds were covering the peaks unfortunately. Moving around to alter the perspective, we found this peak in the distance "peaking" out of the clouds. Quick change from wide angle to my telephoto and ...BAMM!
