We could all do with something warm and stimulating.
Why not Buy Me a Coffee
We went with purpose this night to find the Northern Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, we spent our time under an open sky, on the beach, and in a place we thought would be somewhat absent of light. "You never know till you go", I always say, so Sargeant Bay became our quarry.
Like many that evening, we too were left disappointed considering our thirst for nature's display was a no-show. In its place this attempt at an evening shot served as hope. It was dark enough that I could barely see the clouds, but just light enough to know the direction. Either way, this is what turned out.
Nature is amazing, even in disappointment.
I hadn't been around this side of the rocks at Torquay and quite like the change of perspective. My apologies for being rushed and not taking the time to clean my lens!
The world is indeed small as I met another local photographer Jenni (check out her awesome Flickr feed) without quite realising the connection at the time.
Is this what an alternate universe might look like? Who knows.
at least it's new to me. That means: using this technique with water and oil. I had a lot of fun with it. Thanks for introducing this nice theme. HMM.
We'll shed our skin
We'll walk the other side
We'll brace for it
And conquer everything
We're magical
We'll wake the dead from sleep
We'll shed our skin
We'll walk the other side
We'll brace for it
And conquer everything.
Tear me away
From this fight
Tear me away
Take me to an alternate world.
Make what we believe
Don't we
Make what we can

This is a view of the Colorado River (upper left) from the area near Horseshoe Bend, Page, Arizona.
The river makes its famous bend around the peninsula at top center of image. If one looks closely at the extreme top left an outhouse is visible at the river's edge. The standard viewpoint of the river is from upper left (out of frame).
We made a day hike to get to this viewpoint for something to do and to get a different perspective on the river. We wandered over 8 miles round trip on our jaunt. Very beautiful area.

These remarkable sandstone cliffs are part of the Jurassic Coast and are to the east of West Bay on the Dorset coast. With their alternating hard and softer sandstone layers they remind me of a wafer biscuit. The harder sandstone protrudes from the cliff-face about every three feet, with the softer version in between. It's known as the Bridport Sand Formation, and was deposited about 180 million years ago. Unfortunately, it becomes weaker when wet, and so continuous heavy rainfall can cause landslides.
The cliffs featured in Broadchurch, a British TV crime drama that aired from 2013 to 2017. The show ran for three series and had a total of 24 episodes. Some of the stars include David Tennant, Olivia Colman, and Jodie Whittaker.
I must have stood under this tree for about 15 minutes just enjoying the light. I have no idea what kind of tree it was.

This is the alternate version with a wider aspect showing the sun, as I could not decide which I liked better!
