i vision of a place where i can travel with ease without any chains or boundaries or limits i need to break to feel good
We went with purpose this night to find the Northern Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, we spent our time under an open sky, on the beach, and in a place we thought would be somewhat absent of light. "You never know till you go", I always say, so Sargeant Bay became our quarry.
Like many that evening, we too were left disappointed considering our thirst for nature's display was a no-show. In its place this attempt at an evening shot served as hope. It was dark enough that I could barely see the clouds, but just light enough to know the direction. Either way, this is what turned out.
Nature is amazing, even in disappointment.
Alternate title (provided by my daughter) - be back soon
As I've been working on trying to improve my photography skills, I have become a light worshiper. I'm constantly aware of the light around me, wanting to understand it so I can manipulate it to make better images. I feel like I am beginning to get a grip on it but now really need to work on creating light too. I've recently read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell and have years to go before I'll get in my 10,000 hours but until then I am happy to keep practicing on daily improvements.

Is this what an alternate universe might look like? Who knows.
at least it's new to me. That means: using this technique with water and oil. I had a lot of fun with it. Thanks for introducing this nice theme. HMM.
We'll shed our skin
We'll walk the other side
We'll brace for it
And conquer everything
We're magical
We'll wake the dead from sleep
We'll shed our skin
We'll walk the other side
We'll brace for it
And conquer everything.
Tear me away
From this fight
Tear me away
Take me to an alternate world.
Make what we believe
Don't we
Make what we can

I must have stood under this tree for about 15 minutes just enjoying the light. I have no idea what kind of tree it was.
Taken at Kirstenbosch Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa.
Another shot from Wibbly Wobbly Land...
The Nottingham & Beeston Canal takes you into the heart of the city, and is a key feature of the vibrant waterfront district...
Also happens to run alongside our local Sainsbury's..
Taken holding the camera one handed...Jonathan and I had just had an altercation as he lets my well trained up dogs pull on the lead. They both walk perfectly to heel for me so a whole series of shots taken in this way..Testament to the Sony and that lens and a good job it has steady shot in camera ;))
Update for any of my comments re the Steady shot in camera..
The lens used for this shot uses the in built Steady shot stabilisation. No stabilisation on the lens. My mistake but at least the Steady shot worked well :))
This is the alternate version with a wider aspect showing the sun, as I could not decide which I liked better!
More my style, I think. For nearsighted people who can use manual focus closely. (Note: this ability does NOT come in handy when driving.)
All is not what it seems in the alternative world of dreams!
Winter reflections in the lake. I turned it round so it looks the right way up.
Big thanks for viewing, favs and comments 😀
