This was intended to be part of the Stand Up for Peace Challenge last week but it took me a bit to figure out :D It's about the best homage I could to the Indian Holi Festival. For those that don't know and in short it's basically a festival to celebrate love. After I thought about the challenge a bit, I got to thinking: standin up for peace is awesome, but even better if you just applied this to all aspects of your life. Stop hating on others and stop hating on yourself. If everyone took a grip more time putting others before their own insecurities, then maybe there would be no need to stand up for peace. Maybe we would already have achieved it.
Sunrise over the harbour.
9 exposure HDR ranging from 1/30th to 8 seconds exposures @ f/22.
The table and chairs were already there, I did not move them.
Dangerous coastlines.
Lighthouses are already mentioned in ancient times. At that time burning fires were used on heights and cliffs by the sea or possibly, at the harbor of some great sea city, open fires on the roof of a flat tower.
Spectacular job on an already spectacular building: all wooden posts under beach club Zee were removed and replaced by steel ones.
Spectaculaire klus bij een toch al spectaculair bouwwerk: alle houten palen onder strandclub Zee werden weggehaald en vervangen door stalen exemplaren.
Have a nice new week
Thanks for all the nice comments, it is much appreciated

Soul of all souls, life of all life - you are That.
Seen and unseen, moving and unmoving - you are That.
The road that leads to the City is endless;
Go without head and feet
and you'll already be there.
What else could you be? - you are That."

Already longing for Spring
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to view, comment, and fave my photo.
Congéia (Congea Tomentosa) is a woody, branched vine, known worldwide for its decorative flowering.
Native from Asia, particularly Burma, India, Malaysia, Thailand.
At the end of Winter and early Spring the Congéia blooms, showing numerous white flowers, small and discreet, but each surrounded by three helix-shaped bracts, very showy and durable, which change color gradually, from pink to purple and subsequently to gray, over several weeks. Flowering is so dense and abundant that you can hardly see the foliage.
As a vine tropical, enjoys the heat and does not tolerate frost or snowfall. In temperate countries it must be protected in greenhouses during winter.

I love to take pictures of this vine, because even when the little flowers fade the bracts remain with the beautiful pink color and velvety texture, wich enchants me so much.
I never saw the grey color mentioned in the information above and can't give my opinion of the end of blooming. I bet it doesn't be ugly... but my opinion doesn't count because you know that I love flowers, a lot!
In the first photo you can see few little flowers still alive, in the second they already fade.
Double exposure
Once upon a time, the pine tree, that spring is already approaching.
The mole croaked grimly: - He will surely come by car.
The hedgehog turned stern: - Rather on a scooter.
The snake hissed: - I don't believe it, he'll come on a bicycle.
The blackbird whistled: - I know something about it, he will come by plane.
- From where again," said the magpie, "I do not take my eyes off her
and last year in May I saw her on the streetcar.
- Not true spring usually arrives by motorcycle!
- And I will prove to you here that it is by car.
- Not true, because in a carriage!
- In a carriage? - What are you saying?
I can briefly declare that he goes by his own boat!
And spring has come on foot.
Already the flowers are enjoying her , already the grasses are growing before her
And they are humming - welcome spring!

Now, as I have already started with saying goodbye, I will simply go on with that and show some of the left behind photos from my trip to Portugal.
I'm starting with lisbon and to be more precise with one of the two famous bridges of the city and to be even more precise with the Ponte 25 de Abril.
What I did like at this view was, that every corner of this photograph has got it’s own picture, separated and united at the same time by the silhouette of the bridge.

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!
As I already explained in my previous image of similar title, this is what is going on in this Northern Paradise. We passed by watching in horror and pushing the accelerator to the very bottom to get away from this madness as fast as possible. ... Call me selfish, call me a friggin individualist, but I will NEVER stand in a line experiencing such places in a melee ;)
Needless probably to add that their two minibuses were almost blocking a very narrow road while about 500 metres further there was a parking lot! Gosh I hate this new photographic vandalism!
This is a photo which I already Uploaded in colour but I think it also suits black and white very well
I already said goodbye.
Two weeks ago my Father passed away from dementia, today was his funeral, I chose to not attend, as we have been estranged for 32 years. Myself and my siblings had a very traumatic childhood because of this man, he was abusive to us all, including my Mum, and we were shown very little love from both parents due to the way he had conditioned her. We spent a large part of our childhood visiting my Mum in a mental hospital, and my older brother pretty much brought us up. I walked away from my Father when my Mum finally divorced him when I was 18. Trying to be a part of his life was too painful, he didn’t seem to care about us. To others he was a wonderful man and would do anything for anyone, but never his own family, a wife and 5 children. I grew up being told I was thick, which did nothing for my self esteem and affected my adult life hugely.
I have been in two minds as to whether to post about this on here for the last two weeks, I am not grieving him, I am grieving for my lost childhood. I have set this to disable the comments, as I am just putting this here so I have a record of it on my blog, and need to move on from this after today, and I don’t want anyone to feel sorry as I am ok, just a very surreal time, and the end of an era, after losing my Mum to cancer in November 2020.
Today we went to Butterfly world as a distraction, and also because it was too cold and wet to shoot outdoors. We had a lovely day.
The crocuses were taken in our garden a few days ago during the cold snap. They survived the storm, and they continue to bloom. ❤️
Much love to you all, dear Flickr friends.

I already posted www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/31240829477/in/datepo... what was the end view of my hike to Munken. This is in the beginning of the hike, where I came from sea level (somewhere on the left of the picture) and this is after ca 300 meters climbing. The magnificent view here was only the beginning of ridiculously many wonderful shots from which it is hard to choose. More to follow!
Further more you can see that it is still early in spring, where the green grass is just starting to awake.
The Austonian held the crown of tallest building in Austin for nine years until The Independent surpassed it by only seven feet in 2019. Located at 200 Congress Ave., the 683-foot tall, 56-story building is a modern architectural icon in this rapidly growing city.
This post modern skyscraper was designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects of Houston. At the time of its completion in 2010, the Austrian was both the tallest building in Austin, and the tallest residential skyscraper in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Both distinctions are now held by The Independent, although another downtown Austin tower, Sixth and Guadalupe and still under construction, has already topped out at its final height of 865-feet and is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2023.
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.
Violet-capped woodnymph (Thalurania glaucopis)
Portuguese ID: Beija flor de fronte violeta
Its scientific name means: from (Greek) thalos = child, descendant of; and ouranos = sky, celestial, referring to the blue of the sky; and Greek (glaukos = bluish-gray). ⇒ Bluish gray bird, son of the sky blue.
It measures about 11.1 centimeters, and his tongue that when stretched reaches 4 centimeters, feeds on nectar. Sometimes it pierces the flower tuft outside, directly attacking its precious liquid.
But this species has already been observed hunting insects and small spiders as it flies, with rapid maneuvers.

Yellow Admiral (Vanessa itea)
This one let me take a numbers of shots last Sunday but then decided enough was enough, the wings came up briefly and it was off.

Molden, Resetarits, Soyka, Wirth at the Popfest 2014 at the Karlskirche in Vienna. Their performance was the highlight of the festival, and this experience was a real moment of happiness for me. Perhaps you can imagine this if you watch and listen to the following youtube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIvnP6bOSEc This song is about the slide tower in the Wurstelprater, which I showed you in the previous photo.
I've already noticed them poking the heads above the surface of the forest floor...l can hardly wait for their arrival.
On our evening walk, we finished up near the Cliffords Tower. A very historic tower which we had high on our list of places to visit the following day. We had already purchased a one day historic pass. If we visited 3 things we would break even. We plan for a very busy day to make it worth our while.
Romantic mood is already in the air and I'm falling in love over and over again with antique decor. Highly recommend this cozy elegant fireplace set by Soul2Soul, the carved fireplace itself is absolutely stunning. And those figurines!
