About this shot
Scoop nr 1 This is 'The Scoop' next to the modern London City Hall, a great place for photography - If they would let ya. I can't complain though.
Scoop nr 2 Always keep an eye on your shadow when you're out and about, or else you might be ruining your own shots. *cough* Yep! :-)
Scoop nr 3 Don't be afraid to go out on a walk with another photographer thinking "you might end up getting the same shots!" This is not a problem at all. Evidence: This is Scott's shot of me taking the shot above. And this one. Y'see? It's another world, so no problem at all, unless you keep shooting over each others shoulders all the time of course. But then, there's always post-processing. ;-)
Have a nice day!

Haha, this one just makes me smile... I don't think his tongue could be any longer :) We were in the middle of a long walk Barney, Dilly and I went on a few days before I left for France. I only meant to have a short walk, on one of the smaller hills in the background of this pic but wonderful weather meant I was reluctant to go home. We ended up staying out hours longer than I'd planned, eventually walking (or in Barney's case, loping) up to the highest point of the Malverns (not that high - around 1,300ft). I love walking on the hills of course, but even seeing them from a distance makes me happy... They're the first thing I look for when coming home: from miles away you can spot them rising in an orderly line out of the flood plains of Worcestershire, it's a nice sight when you've been away for awhile :)
Barney was ecstatically happy to see me (the feeling was mutual!) when I arrived this afternoon. He was already bounding down the hall as I turned the key and opened the front door. I had to stand outside for 10 minutes while he just leaped up and down, tripping on my suitcase, crashing into my legs, throwing himself on the floor in a wriggling heap and just as I reached down to pat him, leaping up again, to lick my face! When I finally got inside he pounced on his kong, proudly prancing back to show me, shaking his head ferociously and doing a funny little dance with his front paws. Finally, he led the way back to the garden, tail curled jauntily over his back and a cheeky grin on his face that was an invitation (or perhaps demand is the right term) for play :) I couldn't resist...
It's lovely having such a fantastic welcome home but I'm glad I've got no plans to for a long holiday or visit with relatives soon - I hate saying goodbye to him - especially as he knows what a suitcase is. Whenever I bring the case downstairs, he immediately goes into sulk mode (he has bitter experience with me bringing my case down and then leaving for university for 3 months). Unless I'm gathering his bowls, leads, toys etc he will go very quiet and subdued. I call him and he won't come, he just stares at the suitcase, then at me and stays where he is, head on his paws. It is a truly pitiful sight and one that breaks my heart (even though I know, after a day of sulking he's back to his happy self!!) Yes, I had a lovely time but I'm glad to be back and I think Barney's pretty pleased too :)

Nome comune: Ibisco.
Genere: Hibiscus.
Famiglia: Malvaceae.
Descrizione genere: comprende circa 250-300 specie di arbusti, piccoli alberi o piante erbacee, perenni o annuali, rustici o delicati, sempreverdi o a foglie decidue.
Here is a shot of the Eiffel Tower from the fountains in front of Place du Trocadero - Paris, France. For those of you that have visited Paris pre-2000, the Eiffel Tower played host to Paris' Millennium Celebration. On this occasion, flashing lights and four high-power searchlights were installed on the tower. Since then, the light show has become a nightly event. The searchlights on top of the tower make it a beacon in Paris' night sky, and the 20,000 flash bulbs give the tower a sparkly appearance every hour on the hour.

Silence
La brume matinale danse
Dans le plus grand des silences
Laissant paraître
Ce paysage, qui veut naître
Pour cette nouvelle journée
Mes yeux émerveillés
Devant tant de douceur
Où s’éveillent les couleurs
Je me souviens de cette scène
Qui par delà, les monts m’emmène
A la découverte de se Pays
Où tout n’est que magie

Silence
The morning mist dance
In the largest of silence
Betraying
This landscape, which is born
For this new day
My eyes filled with wonder
Faced with such gentleness
Where awake colors
I remember this scene
Who beyond, the mountains take me
Discovering to Country
Where everything is magic

"All you need is faith and trust... and a little bit of pixie dust!"
That quote perfectly describes my feelings about my first workshop yesterday. I was beyond excited to meet my group and see what everyone had to offer, and I was nervous too...that I would suddenly forget how to create an image! So I thought it only appropriate to do a Peter Pan picture :-)
It was an absolutely wonderful day from start to finish. I think that we all learned something, and we definitely all had a laugh at some of my odd techniques both in shooting and editing!! :-P I am bursting with excitement for the next one now!

The Königssee is a lake located in the extreme southeast of the German state of Bavaria, near the border with Austria. It's all part of the Berchtesgaden National Park. Located at a Jurassic rift it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about 7.7 km. The lake similar to a fjord is surrounded by steeply rising flanks of mountains up to 2700 m. The lake is noted for its clear water and is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. For this reason, only electric driven passenger ships, rowing and pedal boats have been permitted on the lake since 1909. Due to its picturesque setting, the lake and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo, which is known for its clarity. St. Bartholomä, a famous pilgrimage church with a small inn nearby, is located on a peninsula about halfway down the western lakeshore. It named for Saint Bartholomew the Apostle Bartholomäus in German. A first chapel at the lake was built in 1134 from 1697 onwards it has been rebuilt in a Baroque style with a floor plan modelled on Salzburg Cathedral, two onion domes and a red domed roof. St. Bartholomä and the southern edge can only be reached by boat or via hiking trails up the surrounding mountains.
A bird's eye view of St. Bartholomä next to the Konigssee in the county of Berchtesgaden - Germany. You can see three electric boats. Photo taken from the Jenner mountain top at the height of 1,870 meters where the beauty of the Berchtesgaden valley and Königssee can be viewed. The lake is noted for its clear water and is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. For this reason, only electric driven passenger ships, rowing and pedal boats have been permitted on the lake since 1909.

The Königssee is a lake located in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the border with Austria. Large parts are comprised by the Berchtesgaden National Park.
St. Bartholomä and Watzmann
Lying within the Berchtesgaden Alps in the municipality of Schönau am Königsee, just south of Berchtesgaden and the Austrian City of Salzburg, the Königssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Located at a Jurassic rift it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about 7.7 km (5 mi) in the north-south direction and is about 1.7 km (1 mi) across at its widest point. Except at its outlet, the Königsseer Ache at the village of Königssee, the lake similar to a fjord is surrounded by steeply rising flanks of mountains up to 2700 m (8900 ft), including the fabled Watzmann massif in the west.
The literal translation appears to be "King's Lake", however while German: König does indeed mean "king", there had been no Bavarian kings since the days of Louis the German until Elector Maximilian I Joseph assumed the royal title in 1806. Therefore the name more probably stems from the first name Kuno of local nobles, who appear in several historical sources referring to the donation of the Berchtesgaden Provostry in the 12th century; the lake was formerly called Kunigsee.
In 1944 a subcamp of the Dachau concentration camp was located nearby where Heinrich Himmler had a residence built at Schönau for his mistress Hedwig Potthast.
On boat tours, it has become traditional to stop and play a flugelhorn or trumpet to display the echo; formerly demonstrated by shooting a cannon, it could be heard reflected up to seven times.

The Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pillar is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. The Basilica venerates Blessed Virgin Mary, under her title Our Lady of the Pillar praised as Mother of the Hispanic Peoples by Pope John Paul II. It is reputed to be the first church dedicated to Mary in history (Wikipedia).

Re-posted ~ The most famous photo of the Loch Ness Monster was taken 81 years ago today.
---------------------------------------------
Dedicated to our inner-child and to all the dreamers like us. ♥
The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid that is reputed to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. The most frequent speculation is that the creature represents a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs. The legendary monster has been affectionately referred to by the nickname "Nessie" since the 1950s.
The earliest legend about the Loch Ness monster recorded is the story of the Irish monk Saint Columba’s encounter with the beast. During is pilgrimage in Scotland to spread Christianity across the land, on his way to visit with the Pictish king in Inverness, he encountered some Picts burying what remained of one of their own people, badly savaged by a creature in the Loch. Columba ordered one of his followers to swim over to the other side of the water and retrieve the dead man’s boat. During this the servant was attacked by a creature. Columba (invoking the name of God) commanded the beast to return to whence it came and it vanished beneath the waters of the Loch leaving the swimming man unharmed.
It was not until 1933 that the monster became world famous as the world newspapers reported the story. So keep your eyes on the loch as you travel around, you never know you may be lucky and spot the monster too.

The Story
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seemed like it would be an easy sunrise to shoot. Merely go around the hot pool, over the top of the rock wall blocking the ocean, and around to the cliffs and lava pools. However, the rocks are extremely slippery and you don't expect that when all of the lava is just a few decades old at most and very sharp. So, you walk along experiencing a reliable grippy surface and suddenly it is as slippery as ice! So if you go here, especially in the dark before sunrise, be careful!
The problem gets worse because I wanted to get close to the little reflecting pools in the foreground, but it was difficult to even move, let alone run from these unobstructed waves which pound this spot every 20 seconds or so.
The weather was warm and about as perfect as it can get, and this can lull you into a false sense of security. I mean, how can there be danger in such a paradise? Well, with no coral reef in front of many Hawaian beaches, it seems like every 4th wave is a sleeper wave, so be careful photographing any non-reef beach. Seriously!
Anyway, even if you do not make it to the beach during the day (the hot-pool lifeguard has a bullhorn to keep people away from the waves), definitely visit this hot pool. It has an opening for the 78 degree (28c) ocean water to mix with the 94 degree (34c) hot pool water. Suddenly, the oean water feels as cold as California! The breeze off the ocean is cool enough so that you can relax in the hot water without getting too hot. It is perfect!

Lots of disappointments
Lots of failures
There are a lot of things I wanted to undo
Things that remained unanswered
Things I want to do for me to become a person that I really want to be
Things that I want to unfold behind all the mysteries in my life
But, at the end, I realized that those things I wanted to change in the past
were just the ingredients and spices of my life
Making me stronger, testing my faith to HIM and making me become a better person
Now, I should say that there is no need for me to turn back time at all! :)
Have a GREAT day my friends!!!
