I first would like to say thanks to Aaron M. for getting my Timberland boot out of the mud that was like quick sand. Aaron, just make sure you don't tell anyone that I had to drive home in my ballerina tights.
Also to all the photographers that were at Badwater this morning, the guy that was all the way out in the middle of the salt flats, in the water, that was me. So if I was in any of your frames, I do apologize, but the early bird catches the worm!
The title of the image speaks for itself. The salt flats were under water. The further I went out the deeper the water got. It was strange, but it was pretty cool seeing water out there. And a rare sight also.
Oh, and before I forget, to my co-worker Jim R., you missed out on an amazing sunrise, so I hope that Sizzler dinner you had last night was good!

Life is a journey, it’s been said.
It is a story of failure, but also of victory.
It is an experience of sadness, but also of joy.
It is a sketch of despair, but also of hope.
It is a painting of war, but also of brotherhood and friendship.

Hope you find your own, beautiful path :)

Went on a little photowalk downtown last Thursday and got some pretty cool shots! This is the front of the Steel Building in downtown Pittsburgh. I have a few other shots of this building, but I never was able to get the front!
This was actually taken during rush hour, but I was able to get my 7 exposures with only a few people in in that I was able to clone out.
Thanks for stopping by my friends!
I don't mind invitations, but please no big, shiny, flashing, glitter graphics, they will be deleted. Thanks!

I just got back from a long day on my bicycle. I woke-up to a white world because it’s been snowing last night and I thought this was a good time to go out hunting. I never realist that we had so many goose here in The Netherland. I was actually going for a more dramatic shot, with al the goose flying away. So here I was flapping with my arms and making a lot of noise but only tree of them were scared of me (or had sensitive ears) but I’m very satisfied with this result.
Technique:
1/200 exposure
f/5.6

I set the aperture as wide as possible and focused on the flying gooses. The farm is nice and sharp because of the distance of these gooses and made the ones that are at the front so vague. I only just discovered an extra bonus and that’s that there feet and beaks stand out against the white snow.
I watched these little birds foraging amongst the rock pools on the beach & running back & forth to escape getting wet from the tide :) I've no idea on the ID but sure one of my many bird expert contacts will identify it for me..........Ray, Lorraine????
Thanks to JohnM54 for the ID of a Turnstone :)

The Oostvaardersplassen is a nature reserve in the Netherlands. Despite its young age, it is in a polder which was only created in 1968, it already has international importance as a European wetland. The Oostvaardersplassen can be divided into two areas: wet and dry. Before the establishment of the reserve, the dry area was a nursery for willow trees, and in the first year hundreds of seedlings could be found on each square metre. This led to concern that a dense woodland would develop, significantly reducing the value of the habitat for water birds. To avoid this, the park's managers brought in a number of large herbivores to keep the area more open, including Konik horses, Red deer and Heck cattle. These large grazing animals are kept out in the open all year round without supplemental feeding, and are allowed to behave as wild animals without, for example, castrating males. The ecosystem developing under their influence is thought to resemble those that would have existed on European river banks and deltas before human disturbance. Twelve hundred of the estimated thirty-six hundred cattle, horses, and deer have perished from today's winter starvation. Scientists and managers have deemed the deaths normal. People are not very happy that the government is letting the animals die. They see the Oostvaardersplassen as more of a zoo than a wild space. Well, I think the managers are doing the right thing to maintain a healthy population within the park’s carrying capacity.
A bokeh photo of Red Deer in the harsh winter taken at the Dutch nature reserve Oostvaardersplassen between Almere and Lelystad. I did enter the park at the Kottertocht entrance. It is hard to survive the winter. All animals are kept without supplemental winter feeding. Many Red deer and Konik horses already crossed the frozen water in search for food. Some horses were stucked due to their weight did crush the too thin ice. These konik horses where consuming the fibres of tree trunks, because food is very hard to find, although it is not there daily nutrition. Especially when there is deep snow, lack of food causes starvation among the weak and the strongest will survive . So the survival of the fittest keeps the herds strong and healthy. Also Foxes, which are quite common in this reserve, profit from carcasses of deer, cows and birds in winter. Maybe in future a pack of Wolves could do a great job as natural predators in this part of Holland.
Uniek in Nederland én in Europa.

San Diego (pronounced /ˌsæn diːˈeɪɡoʊ/), named after Saint Didacus (Spanish: Diego de Alcalá), is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest city in California, after Los Angeles, with a population of 1,306,300 (Jan 2010) within its administrative limits on a land area of 372.1 square miles (963.7 km2). The city is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. The urban area of San Diego extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of 2,880,000. San Diego is also the county seat of San Diego County[2], the 5th largest county, by population, in the United States.
The city is the economic center of the San Diego–Carlsbad–San Marcos Metropolitan Area considered congruent with the county. The city was rated the fifth-best place to live in the United States in 2006 by Money magazine.[3] According to Forbes magazine, San Diego is the fifth-wealthiest city in the United States and the 9th safest city in the top 10 list of safest cities in the U.S.[4] San Diego's top four industries are manufacturing, defense, tourism, and agriculture.[5] San Diego's economy is largely composed of agriculture, biotechnology/biosciences, computer sciences, electronics manufacturing, defense-related manufacturing, financial and business services, ship repair, ship construction, software development, telecommunications, wireless research, and tourism. The presence of the University of California, San Diego, (UCSD) with the affiliated UCSD Medical Center promotes research in biotechnology.[6] San Diego is also designated as an iHub Innovation Center by Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Office of Economic Development.[7][8]

A high mountain hairpin turn makes for a neat setting to shoot the starry night sky in winter. Glow from Denver's lights appears on the left (from 50 some miles away!) while the darker sky on the right reveals the Milky Way (woohoo!). This long exposure image (102 seconds) was taken near the top of Berthoud Pass in Colorado.

Do we humans pass by time which is fixed, or does time pass by us. That has been debated for centuries. I don't know the answer, but I do know a place ...where the present meets the past.

I was starting to get cold after seeing so many winter photos, so I decided that we all could use some warmth these days.
I made this shot during my South East Asia travels. This shot was made in Thailand on the island of Ko Samet.
Koh Samed is one of the Eastern Seaboard Islands of Thailand. It is located in the Gulf of Thailand it’s approximately 220 kilometers (140 mi) southeast of Bangkok. Ko Samet is the largest and westernmost of a cluster of islands not far from the coast.
The island derives its name from the cajeput tree found throughout the island, as the Thai language word for cajeput is samet. In the past, this island has also been referred to by its colloquial name, Ko Kaew Phitsadan.
Technique:
1/160 exposure
f/8.0
ISO 100
70 mm
I focused on the person to get a sharp silhouette and set the aperture on f/8.0 to get as much details on the fire as possible. The longer I look at the fire the more things I’ am starting to see.
So let you imagination run wild.
I am back from amazing, wonderful, mind-blowing, fantastic, indescribable Thailand. I had such a wonderful journey, met fantastic people, had wonderful new impressions, saw so many amazing places, spent the days on the islands at the sea and soooo much enjoyed life.
I started off in Bangkok, stayed there for 4 days, then continued traveling to the south, took the catamaran to Koh Tao, continued after some days to Koh Phangan, partied on the beach on christmas, took the plane on Koh Samui up to the north to Chiang Mai, stayed there until new years eve, continued to Sukkothai, then to Cha-Am, went to Phetchaburi and had the last days on the Beach at Hua Hin before flying back from Bangkok again… these 3 weeks went by so amazingly fast…
Now I have 50 GB of images and video to process so you can guess I am rather busy… this is why this shot is a post and run, will have a look at your fantastic pictures in some days.
I am in love… with Thailand!!

Picasso and Braque which created "Cubism"!!.
The trial of their beginning.
A desire that the invisible side wants to watch it.
They took in multiple viewpoints in a picture.
I respect them.
I tried their imitation without using the composition processing.
I added one new work to conventional technique.
The camera turns to the ground first.
The LED lights up the front of the flower.
I point a camera to the sky next.
The LED lights up the back of the flower.
I focus on the stars and change a position of Aperture ring from F22 to F2.8.
The Milky Way exposes it afterwards for 60 seconds.
This shot may resemble early Cubism.
Perhaps this photograph resembles still life of the Cezanne.
He told a lie with the picture of the apple a little.
How do you think of this technique?.
Will this be composition processing? .

Heavy snowfall hits Amsterdam. Winter arrived in the Netherlands. It snowed continuously in Amsterdam for over 3 hours and other parts of the country. It was sticky snow so lots of snowmen and beautiful trees coated in snow! The children and adults were all out playing in the snow most of the afternoon and the street. Besides the joy there was irritation. The whole ring highway of 32km were totally jammed during rush hour. All cars were driving slowly step by step. Most cars don't even have winter tires here. Schiphol airport closed all except 1 runway and many planes were cancelled. Some people hoped that the snow and chill would permit the Elfstedentocht the famous Eleven Cities, 125-mile ice-skating canal race, the weather must remain cold long enough. We'll have to see about that. The Weather hasn't permitted that to happen in many years. Tomorrow extreme low temperature of -15 degrees Celsius is expected.
Last evening I did walk around the canals and made some photos of the snow in of my neighborhood. When it snows it’s light dusting and really beautiful. The steep bridges over the canals in Amsterdam are really slippery. ...especially for cars. The best way to travel in the snow is by bicycle, tram, walking or better by sleds like these kids. Tonight extreme temperature of -15 degrees Celsius is expected. The heavy snowfall is too bad for ice skating. Photo taken here at the corner of Brouwersgrachtand and Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. More snow expected these is coming weekend. It's a handheld streetshot at 1/10s, ISO800 and F2.0 .

A long exposure of a reflection with reflections of more reflections.
Some of you may remember my picture called “Space Dock” - www.flickr.com/photos/31246066@N04/4139298285/ - and the picture I had enclosed with it. It looked very similar to this one. I conducted a night photo shoot inside the top of the Oregon City Municipal Elevator because of all of the cool reflections. This version is from the other side of the “saucer”. I think I like this one even better. You can see the traffic passing over the Oregon City Bridge to the right.

Attempting to capture an image that has been taken so many millions of times, takes a lot of thought and preparation. Reaching this area on the Marin Headlands, is not the difficult part; however adding my personal touch was somewhat harder.
Observing for about an hour before shooting, I noticed a couple of fairly large boats pass under the bridge. My thought was that if a boat or ship would pass through the frame at the right moment, it would create a motion of the water. This in-turn would cause the light reflection of the bridge to move in the water, and thus spreading the glow and reflection out just far enough to be a defining part of the image.
Well, about 30 minutes after sunset, it happened. Combined with a 30 second exposure, this was the result.
While, I didn't get much sleep bundled up in my vehicle that night, I really enjoyed this experience, and am looking forward to returning to the area with the hope of capturing more of it's beauty.
