Between rain showers the sun was shortly coming through the clouds, the next heavy weather ahead of us. This moment was the chance for catching the nice colors of the tree.

Getting used to the FoV on this 25mm Milvus lens.
Due to the weight/size of the Milvus 25, it was ever so slightly bending the add-on F to EF mount adapter I was using to mount it to my 5DSr. This lack of alignment was resulting in sub-standard sharpness and uncharacteristic Chromatic Abrasion for this lens.
I ended up getting the lens mount hard changed by Duclos in Los Angeles and am happy to finally be able to use it in my kit.
Another place I had been ~25 years ago is Yosemite, and it too was very enjoyable seeing it again as an adult and with loved ones.
Special thanks to the delivery fella in nearby Oakhurst who brought treats to enjoy.
Some viewpoints were blocked off to visit and there was smoke in the valley brought on by controlled fires but overall it was a beautiful day to visit and I'm thankful for the shots brought back.

BW conversion of a shot of the rocks at Killcare beach NSW Central Coast. Single shot with Canon 5DSr and EF 16-35mm F4 IS L.
My closest Hawfinch shot to date, uncropped.
They do have the most amazing lilac/pink eyes, especially when catching the light at an angle, almost like a piece of amethyst.
Nearly overlooked this chap because he was so close, but had to carefully and extremely slowly move my lens round 90 degrees, thankfully he wasn't spooked. The silent shutter mode on the 5DSr is very good too, wouldn't like to try the same thing with a 1DX!

It was my dream to visit the Ladakh region of India. A region I visited 30 years back with very fade memory. The landscape there is so surreal and those rocks start burning with the golden light of the sun. On top going to a that altitude is also an attraction in itself!
This particular day was super windy and cloudy. I still went to the location in hope of a break and there were some breaks. The golden light was hitting the mountains after every few minutes through the breaks of the cloud. The scene was ineradicable. I did capture some timelapse and there it is more clear on how the the light ans shade moved through. Overall a good decision to get to that location even with not that favorable weather!

Burano used to be pretty empty when I went there 10 years back. But it has raised the rank of popularity with time. Now with Venice and Murano both getting very crowded during summer months; tourists are flowing more to Burano to see the authentic fishing village of the region.
However; just after the sunset the place becomes pretty empty as not many tourists actually stay in Burano. That is the perfect time to explore the corners and small streets of this spectacular and colorful village.
Due to my bad habit of photography; I do take time to explore places. Burano was not an exception. So I decided to stay one night there and explore the place in my own way and pace. The day when I reached there; I was a bit disappointed to see the crowd. I was in Venice already for couple of days before arriving to Burabo. The crowd in Venice was suffocating. I was expecting a bit of relief in Burano; but that was not the case. It was super hot as well. So I took it easy and checked into my lovely hotel room and took an afternoon nap in the cool air condition. Yes; that is very important because I can only have few hour of sleep at night due to late sunset and early sunrise during summer moths and I had plan of dusk and dawn photography.
Little late in the afternoon I went out to find that the number of tourists decreased dramatically. The day trippers are all back to Venice. Perfect time to explore the tiny island by foot. So I walked around and spotted the photo locations. Also took some images in the process. I spotted this location as my dawn photo spot. The sun was supposed to rise behind the canal and was expecting some color to complement the composition.
So early morning at 4:30 AM. I got ready and went out to find rain. My god; I was so disappointed. I only had this one morning and I need to capture this composition as this was my best spot of Burano. Anyway; I always see things till the end. So I took the umbrella and went out. When I reached this place; the rain became super heavy tropical down pour. The sky started turning blue. Tensed moment. So I used the old trick. It is summer and we are water proof; but the camera is not. So I kept the camera bag under a shed of one of the restaurant; setup the camera and went straight to the location protecting the camera with the umbrella to avoid it being soaked. After that I have spend next 45 minutes photographing different angles in pouring rain. Thank god the umbrella was big enough to shade the camera and part of me. Finally it was fun photographing under heavy rain without damaging the camera.
Just before the sunrise the rain and wind both stopped and the sky started becoming spectacularly colorful giving me the opportunity to capture this image without the hassle of holding the umbrella. It was still pretty early and the lights were still on with the sky turning red gave a lovely moody light to go with.

This is a bit less popular side of Grand Canal viewed from the Rialto Bridge. However I found this as interesting as the other side of the. There are normally 100s of people trying to fight each other to photograph the other side of the bridge with their mobile. But this side has only few people. Indeed, some of them stopped by after watching me taking image of this with with a relatively larger setup. But it was still much more comfortable than what I faced the day before trying to photograph the other side.
This is no doubt one of the most popular location of one of the most popular tourist spot of the world. So no wonder there will be some crowd. But the interesting part for a photographer is to photograph the beauty by keeping the crowd a bit out of the frame.
I really likes the way the canal turns here. Even though this side doesn't have that longer view of the canal as it is on the other side, the buildings are more interesting here. I have added one of the boat passing by to make some movement in the image and those water buses are something that one can frame as soon as the thought of Venice arose. Off course the gondolas are the most famous ones, but they are not as well lit as these ones. So I actually included the water bus instead of a gondola.

May 28th with the dual tornadoes near Seibert, CO was a nice surprise...I so badly wish I had been on the Daniel Shaw side of them, but it was amazing to witness my first ever two-tornadoes-on-the-ground moment. This was shortly before they completely dissipated for the day.
Some unfortunate camera shake made this not really worthy of printing, but still such a fun shot for me personally!
The final night of my recent 2 week drive across Australia from Sydney NSW to Margaret River WA and back again. This is a roadside rest stop 80km's east of Willcania NSW. A single 30 sec exposure at ISO 3200 with Samyang 14mm F 2.8 MF lens and Canon 5DSr . A road train came barreling down the road and through my shot to add an extra dimension to the shot. Still cannot believe just how bright the milky way is out west.

Well, a bit of different image than what I normally take. However; in Venice it is customary to capture some images of those different canals. I did plenty of walking to find our some good locations that could be interesting for capturing a typical Venice Gondola shot. This is one of such location. I went there in summer; which is normally pretty full with tourists. So finding some Gondola in the shot was easy. But getting a right composition took some time. But after few attempts; I did manage to get what I was looking for.

Finally I found the setting I was looking for. Few years back I went to Seychelles and found similar setup. This time I went to the same place and couldn't find it. The ocean came in and probably grasp the tree. I found this suddenly looking for a different location. Off course I did spend some time capturing it at the right time during day with camera, drone as well as during sunset.
Ok. If you have already reached till here; may be you will be interested to see Seychelles in a bit more detail!

Langkawi, a cluster of 99 islands separated from mainland Malaysia by the Straits of Malacca, is a district of the state of Kedah in Northern Malaysia and lies approximately 51 km west of Kedah. The total land mass of the islands is 47,848 hectares. The main island spans about 25 km from north to south and slightly more for east and west. The coastal areas consist of flat, alluvial plains punctuated with limestone ridges. Two-thirds of the island is dominated by rain forest-covered mountains, hills and natural vegetation.

The famous Shanti Stupa of Leh. A place that gets super crowded with tourists and also locals. However, that day was a bit different. It was cloudy and super windy. So there were not too many people and that gave me the opportunity to capture a postcard like image. Normally there are white and bright halogen that illuminates the Stupa. However this time they used some of these colourful lights for a change. It is very common to see image of the Shanti Stupa in bright while at dusk. But I found the light in this much more appealing and matches the ambiance. On top the fast moving cloud added up to give some dramatic movement.

I am still a bit in shock at what we were able to witness. My friend and I went on a spur the moment trip to Big Island of Hawaii to document a bit of the Kilauea Volcano action going on right now. The first day, June 16, 2018, we chartered a helicopter with Paradise Helicopters and the second day we did the Lava Boat Tour. It was an incredible experience, to say the least, but also very eye-opening and pretty sad. Seeing the area where over 400 (over 600 now I believe) homes were taken out was pretty crazy. Seeing how fast the lava was flowing out the fissure 8 was even crazier, as seen in this collection. But seeing Kapoho Bay completely filled within days and Leilani Estates practically gone, was definitely the most shocking part. I guess we have to still remember these islands were formed by lava to begin with.
“Since May 3, 2018, Kilauea has erupted more than 110 million cubic meters of lava. This fissure has produced a lava fountain pulsing to heights of 185 to 200 feet (55 to 60 meters).”
These shots was taken on June 16 & 17, 2018.
