28/52: The weekly challenge - Long exposure
Two Jack lake, another beautiful lake in Banff. Less crowded than Lake Louise so made for a much more pleasant experience.

mockingbird wasn't happy with where the heron was perched, kept chirping and flying by, to no avail
Landscape: Simplify - Simplify the scene to make your primary subject stand out.
18:52 Broken
I found a pile of broken branches on the neighbours nature strip and took one with the intention of using it for this theme. And today I was airing out the picnic basket in the sunshine and thought they might work together.
I'm slowing catching up :))
27:52 Leaves
Taken on our my recent Flickrcation in Sechelt during our one rainy day. Loved the intensity of the colours in the diffused light.
in need of a bigger mirror or longer arm =)
Portrait: Headshot - You shot a selfie, now shoot a "selfie" of someone else!
&
Story: Mirror - Tell a story using a mirror.
Landscape: Nature up Close - Get up close and personal with nature in this natural beauty shot. Flowers, bees, bugs and spiders might all make great shots
25/52: The 52 week challenge - A Tree – Some of the most famous landscapes in the world feature a tree.
I had wanted to get a shot of my favourite solitary tree for this theme but just haven't got time at the moment so this one is from our trip to NZ. This is overlooking The Ngatarawa vineyard. Taken whilst on a wine tour around the Hawkes Bay wine region.
Also #60 in my 100 x challenge - photos from my travels.

23/52: The 52 week challenge - Take a photograph that is strong and necessary of something which is not photogenic.
I'm struggling so much with this challenge, don't think I've really grasped the theme but ran out of time to get the shot I really wanted. Had another go at light painting.
45/52: The weekly challenge - Something found in the kitchen
So many things in the kitchen to photograph and it still took me ages to think of what to do...another high key!
Thought I have a break from mountains for now!
Ok, I don't normally eat doughnuts, you can guess why...it's not because I don't like them! When strolling around Larkspur over the holidays we enjoyed a coffee, sitting outside, and a freshly baked doughnut of course!! Yep, twice in fact, well it was Christmas after all!! :))
3.52. Begins with the first letter of my name
32:52 Something I’ve never shot before
I’ve never shot a life size bronze of the 3 wise monkeys before..
Week 15 For The 52 week project...Try to transform our world into an abstract image.
Also 19/30 For April 2016: A month in 30 pictures
Using ICM (in a circular motion) I took photos of the daffodils in my garden. I then merged 3 photos in Photomatix.
You can just about make out a few daffodils at the top of the image. I'm not sure if I have interpreted the challenge correctly but I am pleased with the abstractness (is that even a word?)

43/52: The weekly challenge - Communication
How times have changed, from the written word to the majority of our communication being done by smartphones or computers. I know the cup isn't anything to do with communication but everything is better with a cup of tea.
48/52: The weekly challenge - Water motion - The waves gently rolling in. This was taken on day two of our holiday in Malta. A totally different outlook to the previous day with that dramatic dark sky.

44/52: Project 52 - self portrait
45/52: The 52 week challenge - Recreate a famous photograph – one that you greatly admire.
Ever since I saw an exhibition of Horst's work, I wanted to do my version of his image 'Round the clock'. So I knew exactly what I would do for this weeks 52 week challenge. Then when Project 52 theme was self portrait, I decided to do this as a self portrait. Originally I had converse in mind and a friend had agreed to model for me but we hadn't got around to arranging a time for a photo shoot. I don't own converse so thought I'd use my walking boots. I also took a version wearing high heels but preferred this version as it's closer to the image I had envisaged. Here is a link to the original...I absolutely love it...and no, there was no way I was going to dress up like that...especially not for Flickr...I don't usually show my legs, so this is very brave of me! ;)
Peter Forsgard 52 Challenge - Week 40 Speed
I couldn't figure out why I was getting bright blurred high-lights. I tried switching off and on, repositioning and then the penny dropped ... my lens ... a nice big smeary mark, probably from a dog's nose :)
Anyways, the chances of another vehicle with blue and yellow going by, to match the bollards, was pretty remote, so I'm sticking with this snap and the bright blurry high-lights.
Landscape: Nightowl - A tripod is going to be handy this week... time to shoot a night landscape. Look for some light for the scene! Car lights, city lights, or maybe just moonlight.
&
Artistic: Purple - Your inspiration this week is purple. Purple is the color of royalty, magic, and mystery.

Sorry I am not commenting much at the moment, I am busy making my son's wedding invitations...hope to catch up soon.
347/365:
50/52: The weekly challenge - I made this.
Making some progress with my Christmas wreaths...very slowly...but I thought I'd try to do some more to them for today's photo.
I am trying to catch up with all your photos...in fact I did some last night while I was wide awake in the middle of the night! :( I am out this evening but really hope to catch up soon.
15/52: The weekly challenge - Out of my comfort zone
Any photo of me is totally out of my comfort zone so a self portrait is way, way out! Hence the focus on the lenses, I am 'reading' a photography book in the background.
I had a serious mishap with my 50mm lens today, I dropped it on the solid wood floor, it seems to be working okay but I hope it doesn't have a delayed reaction...it's my favourite lens.
I am already behind with commenting but I'm afraid I will probably get even more behind as we are going away tomorrow, for the weekend. We have a caravan (trailer to the non Brits) on the North Norfolk coast where it is an internet blackspot. Will try to get a pic taken before we go so I don't get too behind with posting as well as commenting.
21/52: Hands – usually the face is the strongest element in the frame, with the hands being the second. Make the hands the most important element in your image.
Just realised I hadn't got my 'hands' shot so quickly grabbed this one of my son using his phone.
Also for Monochrome Bokeh Thursday. HMBT
going for a bit of an "Inception" vibe
Artistic: Fantasy - Is this real life, or is this just fantasy... Your artistic inspiration this week is fantasy.
&
Story: Back Yard - Tell the story of your immediate surroundings. Give us a glimpse into your daily life.
6/52: 2018 52 week challenge - Clouds
One from the archives for this challenge...New Zealand isn't called Land of the Long White Cloud (Aotearoa) for nothing! This was one of many photos taken at Lake Tekapo. Bringing back wonderful memories from a year ago.
35/52: The 52 week challenge - Patterns – Get inspired by the rhythms that patterns bring to your images.
These are the plastic spoons I brought back from Gran Canaria, a couple of years ago, as photo props. They have been useful on a few occasions so I thought I would give them another outing. Maybe now is the time to say goodbye, I hang on to far too much stuff...just in cases.
After seeing this on the screen I wished I'd used a smaller aperture but didn't have time to go back to the drawing board. Oh well, it's all a learning curve.

33/52: The weekly challenge - An everyday item
When you do a 365 a camera is an everyday item, I don't very often photograph it though.
16:52 Texture – Find your artistic inspiration in textures – you should almost be able to feel the image.
223/366: 2016
32/52: The 52 week challenge - Take a photograph that reveals something about yourself that you’ve never shown before.
I couldn't think what to do for this weeks theme until I decided on my hairdressing scissors and clips to show that I am a hairdresser, although I only do very few people's hair now, just a couple of friends and family.

Portrait: Street Candid - Candids on the street, show us life in your town through the lens.

4/52: The 52 week challenge - Abstract and Conceptual
This was so far out of my comfort zone. I had the idea but had to ask my husband aka Mr Technical for his advice on how to put it all together.
The 52 week challenge 8/52: Amuse Yourself – however you want!
This amused me so I thought it might do for the theme.
#25 in my 100 x challenge - photos from my travels
39/52: The 52 week challenge - Letters – use your imagination, there are 26 in our alphabet, or….they used to be something that people wrote to each other.
My place setting at our goddaughter's wedding. I thought this may be okay for the theme as there are plenty of letters on the menu card and my name card.
first time playing around with split toning, to bring out some blue and red
Landscape: Reflection - Find a way to show your landscape/natural beauty in reflection. The mirror world revealed.
&
Technical: Split Tone - Split Tone is an editing technique where the shadows are toned one color, and the highlights a second color. Split toning is often used with color grading in the media to give a scene a desired look and feel.
the mysterious colander
Artistic: Shadows - The opposite of light is dark, the absence of light is shadow. Interpret this into a masterpiece.
&
Artistic: Still Life - Your inspiration this week is Still Life. A couple of pieces of fruit on a table won't impress in the advanced challenge though... so really be creative.
