The Zorki 3M is the follower of the Zorki 3. The 3 had two wheels for slow and fast shutter speeds that caused liability to defects. The 3M has all speeds in one wheel on the top. There were around 85000-90000 Zorki 3 models produced, it's not sure how many 3's and 3M's. Most sources speak about 40000 produced Zorki 3M. The removable back cover allows comfortable film loading and the bright and big view finder includes the rangefinder. A real progress to the Zorki 1 models. The Zorki 3 is the last series with the nice old styled design of the top cover.

I saw these traffic lights at the intersection of Airport Road and Duval Road a short distance from the Days Inn. These particular traffic lights are facing a 2 lane road that runs parallel to the main 4-lane road. For some reason, I can't help but laugh when I see these traffic lights.
Sherman Hill District, Kucamonga City. A set of 3M traffic signals one a standard all ball signal the two both background and foreground are Merge signals the sign on the foreground tells the drivers of the approaching bridge and lane change. Due for an update I may redo this someday.
First time i took notice of this type of traffic signal was in Framingham on rte 9 at the intersection that lets you take a left at the old Caldor . The date im pretty sure was 1976.
since they widened the intersection with the removal of the old Shoppers World the 3M went as well.
The first traffic signal i thought was cool was at an intersection in Lexington on 2a it was a
dirt old crouse hinds. actually remained probably till 1990.

(Other standard lens is Helios-44 (ГЕЛИОС) 58mm f/2)
Mount: KMZ's ZM39 screw mount. It looks like M39 Leica mount but due to the mirror space, the rangefinder M39 mount lenses do not work properly on this camera. You can use them only the close-up focus range
Aperture: f/3.5-f/16setting: ring and scale on the lens
Focus range: 0.65-20m +inf
Focusing: via ground-glass screen, ring and scale on the lens
Shutter: rubberized silk double cloth curtain, horizontal focal plane
speeds: 1/30-1/500 +B, setting dial on the top plate
Shutter release: on the winding knob, w/ cable release socket
Cocking lever: also winds the film, short stroke, on the righe of the top plate
Frame counter: manual reset, additive type, beneath the winding knob
Viewfinder: SLR pentaprism
Mirror not instant return
Re-wind knob: on the left of the top-plate
Re-wind release: by a small knob, beside the winding lever
Flash PC socket: on front of the camera, X sync 1/30
Cold-shoe
Memory dial : on the re-wind knob
Self-timer: activates by a small knob above it
Back cover: hinged, opens by a latch on the left side of the camera
Engraving on the back of top plate: Made in USSR and serial no.
Tripod socket: 3/8"

RS-3m #9989 at Niagara Falls, NY on August 31, 1977. Earlier rebuilds done at the Dewitt , NY shops such as this one had the squared off hood top to accommodate EMD's engine. Later rebuilds done at Altoona, like the 9941 in the previous picture, retained the curved roof line.(cr1064)
