The glacier was said to be advancing downstream at a rate of between 1.50m and 3m per day, under the pressure of the mass of ice accumulating at the top, and is crumbling and breaking as it meets the Rico River.
The glacier crumbles and breaks up when it meets the Rico River, but in the centre of the picture is the area where the glacier occasionally blocks the flow of water from the left-hand branch of the Rico, and the water accumulates in the upper branch and the flow decreases in the lower branch, which flows into the lake. The water then accumulates in the upper arm, the flow decreases on the lower arm which joins the lake. The water gradually digs into the base of the glacier..... which, at the critical moment, collapses, releasing enormous masses of water.This sudden influx of water rushes downstream, tearing away part of the banks in the process....... To this end, the footbridges do not go down to the bottom of the slope from which the photo was taken...

Se dice que el glaciar está avanzando río abajo a un ritmo de entre 1,50 m y 3 m por día, bajo la presión de la masa de hielo que se acumula en la cima, y se está desmoronando y rompiendo al encontrarse con el río Rico.
El glaciar se desmorona y se rompe al encontrarse con el río Rico, pero en el centro de la imagen se encuentra la zona en la que el glaciar bloquea ocasionalmente el flujo de agua de la rama izquierda del Rico, y el agua se acumula en la rama superior y el flujo disminuye en la rama inferior, que desemboca en el lago. El agua se acumula entonces en el brazo superior, el caudal disminuye en el brazo inferior que se une al lago. El agua va cavando poco a poco en la base del glaciar..... que, en el momento crítico, se derrumba, liberando enormes masas de agua.Esta repentina afluencia de agua se precipita río abajo, arrancando parte de las orillas en el proceso....... Para ello, las pasarelas no bajan hasta el fondo de la ladera desde la que se tomó la foto...

The Junkers Ju 52/3m (nicknamed Tante Ju ("Aunt Ju") and Iron Annie) is a transport aircraft that was designed and manufactured by German aviation company Junkers.
Development of the Ju 52 commenced during 1930, headed by German aeronautical engineer Ernst Zindel. The aircraft's design incorporated a corrugated duralumin metal skin as a strengthening measure, which was very unusual at the time. The Ju 52's maiden flight was performed on 13 October 1930. It was initially designed with a single engine, however, it was produced in quantity as a trimotor. The primary early production model, the Ju 52/3m, was principally operated as a 17-seat airliner or utility transport aircraft by various civil operators during the 1930s. Following the rise of Nazi Germany, thousands of Ju 52s were procured as a staple military transport of the nation. The Ju 52/3mg7e was the principal production model.
The Ju 52 was in production between 1931 and 1952. In a civilian role, it flew with over 12 airlines, including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa, as both a passenger carrier and a freight hauler. In a military role, large numbers flew with the Luftwaffe, being deployed on virtually all fronts of the Second World War as a troop and cargo transport; it was also briefly used as a medium bomber. Additionally, the type was deployed by other nation's militaries in conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War, the Chaco War, and the Portuguese Colonial War. During the postwar era, the Ju 52 had a lengthy service life with numerous military and civilian operators; large numbers were still in use by the 1980s. Even in the 21st century, several aircraft have remained operational, typically used for purposes such as heritage aviation displays and aerial sightseeing.

This pretty cosmic cloud lies some 1,500 light-years away, nested securely within the boundaries of the southern constellation Fornax. Recognized as a planetary nebula, it spans about 3 light-years with its shape and colour being reminiscent of a blue robin's egg. NGC 1360 doesn't represent a beginning though. Instead it corresponds to a brief and final phase in the evolution of an aging star. In fact, visible in this image is the central star of NGC 1360 is known to be a binary star system likely consisting of two evolved white dwarf stars, less massive but much hotter than the Sun. Their intense and otherwise invisible ultraviolet radiation has stripped away electrons from the atoms in the surrounding gaseous shroud. The predominant blue-green hue of NGC 1360 seen here is the strong emission produced as electrons recombine with doubly ionized oxygen atoms.

Maryland & Delaware 1203 runs light from Federalsburg, MD to the DCR interchange at Seaford, DE. After a similar experience on the Batten Kill, I sensed a "light engine move" theme developing earlier this summer. The crew would thankfully return with loads for Dart Container.

Sometimes we lose context in our critiques and judge these cameras like they are all new models on the shelf. It shouldn't matter what the comparisons between them were 50 to 100 years ago, or how they may compare to cameras made today. Now they are all beautiful collector items that we still enjoy using, learning from, or just looking at. From first to last, they are a very important part of our history!
