Today is January 12, 2011 and I was *supposed* to have a baby today! My midwife had to cancel my induction due to a scheduling problem, so now if this baby doesn't decide to come on her own, I have to wait one more week. It might sound like just a few days to the rest of you, but it's a long time from my point of view!

::i finished three big projects at work this week.
::one of my best friends is arriving for the weekend in about 15 minutes (she's never been here before).

::in one week from today, i'll be in california getting ready for my cousin's wedding (which my dad is officiating!).
::i'm beginning to feel a lightness that i've not felt in weeks and weeks.

Took this photo on the famous San Francisco's PIER 39
From the pier one can see Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge. Blue & Gold Fleet's bay cruises leave from Pier 39.
Pier 39 was first developed by entrepreneur Warren Simmons and opened October 4, 1978.

This bus was new to Lothian buses as 37 in 2008 to replace the Dennis Darts with Dash bodys.
This bus is seen on Duddingston Road.

My son fractured his arm in two places recently. He was proud that he too was able to wear a cast like his older brother has twice before him; but this soon turned to quiet disgust as he couldn't do all the things he wanted to because of the 'heavy' cast...well that lasted about a day. As I rode my bike behind him the other day I marvelled at how resilient kids are and how they adapt and don't let things weigh them down. If I was going to be really corny I could say he is literally my shining light...but that would be a bit too heavy don't you think?
Pier 39 is a shopping center and popular tourist attraction built on a pier in San Francisco, California. At Pier 39, there are shops, restaurants, a video arcade, street performances, an interpretive center for the Marine Mammal Center, the Aquarium of the Bay, virtual 3D rides, and views of California sea lions hauled out on docks on Pier 39's marina. The marina is also home to the floating Forbes Island restaurant. A two-story carousel is one of the pier's more dominant features, although it is not directly visible from the street and sits towards the end of the pier. The family-oriented entertainment and presence of marine mammals make this a popular tourist location for families with kids.
The pier is located at the edge of the Fisherman's Wharf district and is close to North Beach, Chinatown, and the Embarcadero. The area is easily accessible via the historic F Market streetcars.
