Dorothy tries to start off the year getting ready for work in a timely fashion. She has her hair halfway done, she still doesn’t have on her nylons or shoes, but she DID get her coffee prepared, she DID get to sit outside in the fresh air and sunshine for a little bit . . . now if she could just get out of the “lap cat trap” 🤔

i look like a monkey -.-
you don't even know how hard this was to do! i set up my camera, got the focus and everything ready. i put it on timer for 10seconds, i hit the button, i ran over to the ice, went onto the ice, grabbed a bunch of FREEEZING snow, ran back over to the camera, just in time to take the photo. and i did that 4 times, haha all in the name of art! my hands are still cold, and i did it like 30 minutes ago.
so last night at my run club, i was talking to some people are we are going to be doing this challenge. the challenge is to run 2500 km in 2012! a bunch of us are doing it, and each week we send in the distance we've run and we get a spread sheet of what everyones done, who's in the lead, etc. im really excited and i cant wait to beat the boys :) including the hot scottish guy, hahah.
NEW ONE DIRECTION VIDEO DIARY, WOOT WOOT. p.s the one in the reindeer sweater is my boyfriend.
IMPORTANT
okay, so i've made a seperate flickr page. i am not abandoning this one, i'm still going to use it like always (continuing with my 365 etc.) im simply using it to just upload extra photos and things i wouldn't normally upload to this stream.
i'm also just kinda using it as a stream to show family and friends just simple photography (probably mostly my dog lol). as this stream is really busy and i think they will be able to appreciate that stream more. i probably wont upload on it very often, but if you would like to add me as a contact feel free, this is it
On the descent of Castle Crag I spotted, near to the path, a part of a boot, no sign of any other part of the boot, nor the other boot....and you wonder, what was it's back story, but there's no way of ever knowing.
The Nottingham train station turned out to be a rich place for numbers. This is #39. I cheat later and use the opposite platform for another number, but they were such great numbers I couldn't resist. One of the great pleasures of this project is going somewhere and looking around, and suddenly finding numbers where you don't expect them.

After work I had to rush to get dressed up and drove over to a field right next to my apartment for this shot, to catch the sunset and coulds before they slipped away into the winter night. This was my first test shot, hence the coat. But I loved how it turned out!
Blog!
Super spontaneous shoot today, the light was so great at 5pm, I grabbed my camera and took plenty of photos and it went soooo well! I'm super happy with the results. I really feel like I'm learning these days, it feels so satisfying. I want to share several photos from this shoot, some of them are really interesting and different from this one, I think. Perfect time to make my first diptych, isn't it? In any case, the guy was quite happy.
What I learned today: Mixing diffuse and direct sunlight did not turn out as catastrophic as I imagined. Putting the extra effort to have that line of reflected light behind the model, it changes everything.

There was just *some*thing about Susan that drew me towards her to say 'would you mind if I took your photo?'
She had style, she had a gentle and friendly air of confidence about her, she looked quirky, but above all she looked like she had a story - something which never fails to draw me in...
...trouble was, she was in a hurry - already late meeting a friend. I rushed the photo and said,
'Think of something that you would like the readers to know about you.'
There was a little pause.
'I'm a recovering alcoholic, and haven't had a drink for 2 years.'
I congratulated her, gave her a little hug and said she looked absolutely great. I only wish she'd had more time, but I was grateful for the 5 mins she shared with me. Photo in the post as Susan is one of those lucky people that isn't online!
Apologies for the ANNOYING man in the blue coat. It really distracts the eye away from my lovely stranger :( I was in such a rush that I didn't notice him at the time otherwise I would have yelled at him to shift. Or I could have moved myself I suppose ;)
Susan is #39 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
