Pier 39 on the waterfront in San Francisco, with Alcatraz in the background. We were true tourists and took one of the boat rides from this spot to the Golden Gate Bridge and then around Alcatraz and back. Man, was it ever cold! But I'm so glad we had the experience. We had hoped to do a tour of Alcatraz but they were sold out for all four days we were there.

Photos from a September 1992 holiday in Lancashire. Looking back it would appear I took most shots in nearby Burnley so this collection represents a snapshot of the Burnley & Pendle fleet from that time.
Here, Leyland Leopard / East Lancs B47F 39 DBV39W sits in the Burnley & Pendle depot with Stagecoach Ribble Leyland Olympian 2199 J199HFR for company.
The second installation in Bowie’s “Berlin Trilogy”, “Heroes” picked up where Low left off. In terms of format, it follows the same formula: a first side focused on lyrical songs, and a second side focused on instrumentals. “Heroes” traded Low’s neurotic angularity for a more high-powered dance pop energy, but it retained the ambient textures of its instrumental side.

This was the first minilander I completed in the project, during the days immediately following Bowie’s death. I was very happy with the pose, and the 1x1 tooth element seemed to be the perfect part to replicate the flat palm in his left hand.

Here is Bear guarding my flowers. He thinks his job is to chase lizards and little ground squirrels. He will sit and stare at the flowers, lizard hole or pile of sticks waiting for lizard movement. Then the chase is on! He will dig in their burrows and try to get them. He knows he can’t catch the birds or bunnies and some day he may realize he can’t catch lizards either!
Bear is a Landseer New Foundland. He weighs about 150 pounds and he is the best companion and protector I could ever want. Once I stepped backwards and fell over a barrel cactus in the yard. By the time I opened my eyes, Bear was standing over me with his nose in my face. Last I recalled, he was inside laying on the kitchen floor. To this day, I don’t know how he knew I fell, but he was certainly there to help me get up. Whenever there is a stranger around he will stand between me and the person so that they cannot get near me. His ability to judge character is amazing. One time when we were camping he pressed against me sitting on my feet and holding me against a picnic table because he was not sure of the guy camping across from us. Bear is not aggressive, but he is possessive!
He is truly a treasure!
