Took this yesterday, scanned today. It was absolutely freezing last night. I had gloves on, took my hands out of my pockets for 1 minute to take this, and my fingers were cold and throbbing staright away :(
Oh, and the quality isn't very good because the film jammed in the machine and don't know what happened with it soo....

A pretty perfect 3rd birthday. First there were presents... then breakfast; then grandma arrived; then more presents; then grandad turned up and took the birthday boy out for a walk and to see the hole being dug in the road (gas leak) - Joseph was invited to press the button on the cable tracing machine; then lunch with cake and candles; then more presents; then a nap; then one last present; then daddy appeared, then a birthday tea at Carluccio's; then a walk home in the dark being followed by the moon ("I think it waited for us while we were in the restaurant"); then milk & Octonaughts; then bed.

This is a sequence of three images taken over 39 seconds. The guitarist is Derek Trucks of The Tedeschi Trucks Band; the sequence shows the tale of the demise of his E string, which I managed to capture just at the instant it broke (middle image). Certainly not deliberate, but very fortuitous with the timing.

ڊيل ڪارنيگي 24 نومبر 1888ع تي آمريڪا جي رياست ميسوريءَ ۾ ميري وِل منرويءَ جي ماڳ تي ڄائو. هُن جيتوڻيڪ 1955ع ۾ وفات ڪئي، پر اِها ڳالهه صحيح آهي، ته هو لکين، ڪروڙين بلڪ اربين پڙهندڙن جي دلين ۾ پنهنجي نرالي لکڻين جي روپ ۾ هينئر به جيئرو آهي. هن جي اَبدي زندگي ۽ مشهوريءَ جو اندازو انهيءَ ڳالهه مان لڳايو، ته ڪارنيگي جن ادارن ۾ پڙهيو، تن جي عزت ۽ وقار ۾ نه رڳو واڌارو ٿيو، بلڪ علم ماڻيندڙ شاگرد اُنهن ادارن کي ڏسڻ، ۽ منجهن پڙهڻ کي پڻ پنهنجي لاءِ شانَ سمجهن ٿا.
ڪارنيگي، اسٽيٽ ٽيچرز ڪاليج وارنزبرگ ۾ 1904ع کان 1908ع تائين، آمريڪي ڊراميٽڪ اڪيڊمي، نيويارڪ ۾ 1911ع ۾، ڪولمبيا يونيورسٽي اسڪول آف جرنلزم ۾ 1913ع ۾ ۽ نيويارڪ يونيورسٽيءَ مان صحافت ۾ 1914ع ۾ تعليم ورتي. هُن لازوال مشهور ڪتاب لکيا، جن جو سَپنو ته هر ليکڪ ڏسي ٿو، پر اهڙي تعبير ڪارنيگي جهڙن ماڻهن کي ئي ملي ٿي. ڪارنيگي نه رڳو پنهنجا ڪتابَ لکيا، بلڪ پڙهندڙ کي متاثر ڪرڻ جي طريقن سميت ڳالهه ٻولهه ۽ تقرير جي فن ڄاڻڻ جا ادارا به هلايا، جتي اهڙن فنن ۽ علمن تي عملي تعليم ڏني ويندي هئي. ڪارنيگي آمريڪا جي ستر اخبارن ۾ خاص موضوعن تي ڪالم پڻ لکندو هو. هُن جي سمورن ڪتابن جا دنيا جي اٽڪل سڀني ٻولين ۾ ترجما ڇپجي چُڪا آهن. هُن جي ڪتابن جي مشهوريءَ جو هڪڙو سبب اِهو به هو، ته هو پنهنجي ڪتابن ۾ سوڀُ ۽ ڪاميابيءَ جا راز، تجربن ذريعي پڌرا ڪندو هو. هُن جي ڪتابن جي مشهوريءَ جو اندازو انهيءَ ڳالهه مان به لڳايو، ته جڏهن هُن جو ڪتاب ”دوست بنائڻ ۽ ماڻهن کي متاثر ڪرڻ جا گر“ 1936ع ۾ ڇپيو، ته انهيءَ جون رُڳو انگريزي ٻوليءَ ۾ هڪ ڪروڙ ڪاپيون ڇپيون.
ڪارنيگي جي لکڻين ۽ تقريرن جو مرڪز اِهو رهيو آهي، ته هو چوي ٿو، ته يقين ۽ ڀروسي جي ڏورَ کي ڪڏهن به پنهنجي هٿن مان نڪرڻ نه ڏيو، پوءِ توهان جي خواهشن جو لغڙ، نيري آسمان جي اوچائين کي ڇُهندو رهندو. هو ماڻهن سان مُحبت ڪرڻ جو سبق ڏئي ٿو. هو پڙهندڙ کي پنهنجي گُرن ۽ فنَ جي ڄاڻُ ڏئي ٿو، جنهن سان اُهي ماڻهو، جيڪي ٻين جي آڏو تِڇ ڏسڻ ۾ اچن ٿا، ۽ سندن چؤڌاري نفرت جو گهيرو مضبوط ٿيندو وڃي ٿو، تن کي هو ٻين جي دلين ۾ پنهنجو گهر ٺاهڻ ۽ کين اُتي سدائين لاءِ رهواسي ٿي وڃڻ جا اُپاءُ سيکاري ٿو. پنهنجي ڀرپاسي ۽ سماج توڙي ملڪ ۾، پنهنجي عزت توڙي احترام ۽ وڃايل وقار۽ لُٽجي ويل ساک جي ڍير مان ٻيهر اڏاوت جا بنياد رکڻ لاءِ، پاڻُ اڏاوتي ماهر جيان مختلف پاسا، طريقا ۽ هُنر سيکاري ٿو، ۽ جيستائين پڙهندڙن اُنهن ڊَهٿل کنڊرن مان نئين عمارت نٿو اڏي، تيستائين هو پاڻ به همت نٿو هاري ۽ نه ئي پڙهندڙ کي هنيانءُ هارڻ ڏئي ٿو.
ڪارنيگي ايڏو وڏو نفسياتي ماهرآهي، جو هُن اهڙا موضوع چونڊيا، جن مان ئي اندازو ٿي وڃي ٿو، ته هُن مايوسين ۽ محرومين جي ڌُٻڻ ۾ ڦاٿل ڪروڙين ماڻهن کي ڪامياب زندگيءَ جي واٽ تي آڻي بيهاريو. ڪارنيگي ناڪاميءَ، نامُراديءَ ۽ مايوسيءَ جهڙين اونداهين جي پيٽ مان، ماڻهوءَ کي خوشين جي سَحر تائين پهچائي ٿو. هو همت ۽ حوصلي تي ايڏو ڀروسو رکي ٿو، جو هو وڏي کان وڏي جنگ کٽڻ لاءِ، مات کائڻ ۽ مايوس ٿيڻ جهڙن لفظن کان اڻواقف آهي.
