This mural is on the side of an upper floor of a building. I assume it was painted from the roof of the lower building next to it. I think it’s pretty - but a shame it isn’t in a more prominent place, as it’s easy to walk past without noticing it.

German Feldwebel (Sergeant) Panzer Crewman passing an 8,8cm Panzergranate 39 through the escape hatch of a Tiger. (Eastern Front, date unknown)
The 'Panzergranate 39' was one of the most common German armor-piercing rounds of World War 2. The round is an "APCBC-HE-T" (Armor-Piercing-Capped Ballistic-Cap, High Explosive, Tracer) design meaning it had a ballistic-cap tip to improve aerodynamics, hardened-steel projectile with a soft iron cap to help with sloped armour penetration, a small explosive charge and a tracer fuse in the base. The round had a muzzle velocity of 780 metres per second and was capable of penetrating up to 110mm of armour at 1000 metres. "FES" rounds were introduced from 1943 on wards, these rounds had the 'driving bands' made of "Feuereisensinter" (FES) or 'sintered iron' instead of copper due to resource shortages. The driving bands provide the tight seal of the projectile within the barrel rifling, switching to steel bands increased the wear of the gun barrels and required barrels to be changed more often.

Almost 39 weeks now.
We went to our first ante-natal class about a month ago and never came back.. I was okay with it but Niki was appalled by the matter of fact approach and how we were constantly reminded of pain and tearing and all the things that can go wrong… We felt if things do go wrong, we will trust ourselves to doctors who are there to give us the best treatment. We certainly do not want to be shocked into it.
So, we took up an alternative approach called Calmbirth. In the US, I believe it is called Hypnobirth. I came into the class expecting Niki to be hypnotised into a pain-free birth. However, the classes were very educational in explaining how the body behaves through labour and how the mother can calmly do controlled breathing to managed the discomfort (note: the word pain should never be used, when you are asked how painful, you will focus on the pain..).
Well, we’ll see how this approach goes soon I guess. For Niki, this is a more acceptable approach to labour and I believe a more encouraging one.
As for me:
I have been in hibernation for a little while now and obviously have not done much photography. The last several months of change - moving cities, changing jobs and preparing our household for a new member.. preparing to be a family for the first time.. Well, I hope you can understand photography is slipping to the side for a bit. I hope to rectify that now we've settled down in our little town on the border of Melbourne - this is quite a beautiful place and there are so many opportunity for beautiful photography here. Plus.. there's going to be plenty of baby photos coming up.. Still, I may squeeze in the odd artistic nude photography when I get the time to.

I don't actually know what week I should be up to with DDW, but hopefully this is about right!
Yeah, I realise this is nothing special, but I was experimenting with the idea of a watermark for my photos. Thoughts?
- Taken with the borrowed SLR. I like the focus much, much better.
- Yes, my real name is Louise. And my middle name is Anna. Belladayys is a long story.
Tagged to do the 'one paragraph about me' thingmy. This is the only other upload you'll get today, so here goes.
I'm seventeen. I can't drive. Cars scare me a tiny bit. I love english literature. I can understand most of Shakespeare. I have to conquer Ian McEwan's Enduring Love over the holidays. Today has been the worst day of my entire year, no doubt. It's a shame, when there's only a week and a half of 2010 left, that I can no longer say this year's been amazing. I have my fingers crossed that everything's going to get better, and that 2011 will be amazing. Harry is the second boyfriend I've ever had, and the first I've ever cared about. (That has nothing to do with today going wrong, by the way) I find red hair a blessing when so many others find it a curse. I've been insulted so many times because of it, mostly jokingly, but there are also some genuinely horrible people out there that use it against you. I'm a summer child, I enjoy the sun. I love winter, but I'm already bored of it, and I'm not really looking forward to christmas anymore. Ummm. I'm usually a ridiculously positive person. Constantly. I smile too much. So I don't know why this paragraph is so depressing. Well, yeah I do. Umm, I'm like five foot four, which is short compared to everyone I know. I can walk in four inch heels over black ice carrying a saxophone. I'm a terrible saxophone player, true fact. I'm from England, but I lived in Germany for a year, with the armyyy. I adore watersports. Going to train to teach people to sail. Errrm, I'm done.
If you read that you deserve a medal.
- Tagged the first people from each letter.
It's so many miles and so long since I've left you.
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you.
But suddenly now, I know where I belong.
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long.
I can't wait.
This little fellow was a gift for our wedding. I actually really like this little fellow.
My wife is using the big camera - so I shot this with the iPhone - Only natural light (and there wasn't much).
I then tweaked the colors and cropped it in Snapseed for the iPhone :-)
I know a lot of people think the iPhone's camera isn't good for anything - but I think the possibilities are abundant. A shot like this proves it, I think. I know there's a bit of grain on the photo - but sometimes it adds nicely to the photo itself.
In the darkness you will find
Dirty little secrets we all hide
Cause we all have a darker side
A place we keep where no one else will find.

Yeah, I changed my picture for the week. Oh well. Read the tags! :D
USSX SW1000 #39 sits at the old Bailey Generating Station (now Mittal Steel) yard along the South Shores mainline just west of the Dune Acres Station on July 26th, 2022. View is looking north from route 12 near the Brown Bag Sandwich Shop. The only info I can find on this locomotive is the model. There is no background info anywhere I have looked. Built by EMD. Just over the hill is Lake Michigan and Indiana Dunes.

I really like the colors in this one. There's a warm tone coming from the mixer, and the reflection of the lights plays off of the headphones.
