After doing my daughterly duty of dropping my dad off at JFK, I drove down the shore to spend the rest of the weekend beaching it up.
Jamie and I went to the Boardwalk at Seaside, and because we are both fun people, we literally scrounged up our last quarters to buy a book of tickets to go on the rides. I think we're about to go on the roller coaster at the end of the pier. The music scramble ride thingie was the next ride over. The "DJ" thought it was cool to fade out his own voice, because he clearly didn't know how to do it electronically.
The roller coaster was fun as hell though! :D
Packing for the National Sales Training Meeting is tough work! These are all of the shoes that will be accompanying me, and believe it or not, I do actually need all of them. This year's meeting is in San Antonio and has a fair mix of business days and fun activities. The boots are for the fun activity they have planned on the last night, flip flops for if we have a moment to stop by the pool, comfy walking shoes for the River Walk, 2 pairs of shoes to pair with business clothes (need to switch those out to make sure my feet don't get too sore), and finally, the fancy pair of shoes to go with my cocktail dress for the big award ceremony. Sigh...if these are the shoes, you can imagine the clothes part. And, because I'm going to be among a bunch of sales people who pay attention to clothes, I have to look good, even in the casual moments. Ahh, well, it should be a fun time (now that I'm finally done packing)!
307.365 - November 3, 2013 - It's Sunday which means I take my post in the TV control room at my church, which is also my place of employment. Part of my job is overseeing the TV/Video ministry. We just renovated our sanctuary and as part of it got all new video equipment.

today i learned it was going to be a long weekend,
got two cookies (a heart and an elephant),
snuck out to meet d. in the afternoon.
this evening, a quiet evening in.
There's nothing like tradition with good friends even when you live half a world away.
John, Li, Michael and Palin live in Hong Kong, but we get together every summer to go camping.
Plus Quincy is eager to ride in John's jeep.

Still in the back country of North Oman, visiting old Nizwa, its fort, its souk, and... that's pretty much it. Very pittoresque fortified city. The fort gives a beautiful view over the city and surroundings. The souk is so big it is split in different enclosed spaces of different styles. Again, very pittoresque. Beware, everything closes round 1.00pm, not opening again till 4.30pm by which time both the souk and the fort have closed. Best time to visit: 9.00-12.00.

Took the new camera for a little walk on the beach. Watching the kids rock pooling in the rocks as the clouds rolled by....

Raindrops keep falling...
After a busy day today, I got home late to fast fading light! As i pulled my car into the drive I noticed the raindrops, in near military precision, lined up on the fence in front of the house.
I dashed inside and grabbed my camera, tripod and CJs amazing macro lens - oh and a waterproof jacket!!
After setting up and waiting for some time to catch a falling raindrop - I didn't - I wished my jacket was a little longer, as I felt the rain drip down the backs of my legs...
