Spotted @ local thrift.
She matchs a doll I received on my birthday ~1971, except she has a purple kimono (mine is orange), but the same pattern. Priced at $4.94 - reluctantly passed on buying since I have run out of room in my doll case.
Day 51/365
Took this on my way to work -- the fog was so thick you could almost feel it as you walked through. Luckily it was a holiday, so the roads were not a complete disaster. #365project #columbus
I understand these things will actually shave whiskers... but I have little experience these days ;-) The joys of working at home... 266. As a note I am sure I have seen a similar shot before and it stuck in my head, I will do some research later and post a link it I can find the image that my snapshot tries to replicate. Thx bg
Matt Woods is one of those modern day bards aka road warriors with the voice of an angel playing a bar near you tonight. It's mind boggling how many awesome musicians are slugging out across the world tonight to share their songs with you. Hope you went out to a show tonight.
JAWBREAKER - "Tour Song"
Seven hundred miles to play to fifteen angry men.
I need some sleep.
They hate the songs.
We hate them too.
This show is free.
Twenty minutes in broke another fucking string.
Just call it luck.
They start to leave.
I start to plead.
Someone yells you suck.
Suddenly that joe kicks hard in my veins.
I cool down.
Things sound good right now.
Suddenly fists turn into brave ears, move as one.
Funny how no one knows we came.
They wouldn't come anyway.
Should I feel grateful to play.
I'm living life my way.
I fell in love with my enemy.
I let go of everything I had left at home.
Two cool people came.
They're hiding by the door.
Eyes wide with fright.
A guy, a girl, in love with the whole world.
It almost makes it right.
Every little thing must go wrong.
364.365 - December 30, 2013 - Well I can't believe there is only one more day left of this project! It only took me five attempts to finally complete one. And now that I've gotten used to doing this on a regular basis I'm seriously considering doing it again in 2014. I'm actually thinking about doing a couple different projects in 2014, but I'll say more about that later.
Nothing too special about today's photo, just a quick self portrait now that I'm feeling a little better. I was beginning to worry I wasn't going to feel well enough to finish the project strong!
Fudge! Each year for the Christmas carry-in at work, I bring homemade fudge. This year, I won't be able to eat any of it because it's definitely not corn, gluten, or dairy free, but oh well! It will still be tasty for others (and I am bringing some fruit for me). The recipe I use is probably the easiest fudge EVER to make. You can find the recipe on my blog. Enjoy!
(why do all of my titles go "___ and ___"?)
last day of summer.
today is yesterday's tomorrow and today is tomorrow's yesterday;
but tomorrow is the only tomorrow so let's make it better than today.

This week the theme for my 365project is "still life." I submitted this photo for today:
This is a still life watercolor that my dad painted back in 1984. When anyone mentions "still life", this is the image that comes into my mind's eye. It's been hanging on some wall in every house I've lived in for the past 26 years and is now faded with age (thank you, Photoshop for letting me bring some color back to it!).
My dad was a banknote engraver at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a profession which required a high degree of exactitude. Those of you with a bit of age on you have seen his work on currency and postage stamps in the United States. However, being exact by profession worked against him in his leisure time passion for painting. He was so highly trained to be specific that he had difficulty creating artistic interpretation. You can bet that every fold in the backdrop in this painting really was there, as portrayed!
He died 7 years ago this week, so this week's theme provided a perfect opportunity for me to think about him and remember what a fine person, father, husband and, yes, artist he was!
