I baked this cake today for my grandma's 81st birthday! (And yes there really are 81 candles... I double checked!)
It was a lemon/white cake with blackberry filling and cream cheese frosting... Yum!

Avui, al saber que el tren herbicida de Sintra que pujava cap a Ripoll feria nit en aquesta estació, he agafat a la família i hem anat a dinar a Ripoll i de pas a fer-li fotos al tren amb doble de 310. Però el dia no ha estat com esperàvem, a la capital del Ripollès no ha parat de ploure en tot el dia i en ocasions ho feia amb molta força. He anat amb el xubasquero de la càmera i el meu i li he fet sis o set fotos, només aquestes tres son una mica passables. Al menys tinc una foto del Sintra nª 4.
Hoy, al saber que el tren herbicida de Sintra que subía hacia Ripoll haría noche en esta estación, he cogido a la familia y hemos ido a comer a Ripoll y de paso a hacerle fotos al tren con doble de 310. Pero el día no ha sido como esperábamos, en la capital del Ripollès no ha parado de llover en todo el día y en ocasiones lo hacía con mucha fuerza. He ido con el chubasquero de la cámara y el mío y le he hecho seis o siete fotos, sólo estas tres son un poco pasables. Al menos tengo una foto del Sintra n º 4.

Newport Bus, 310 [YX12 DME]. Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 - B39F. New in April 2012. Photographed in late afternoon autumnal sunshine, heading towards Newport along the coastal road at St. Brides, working route 31A from Marshfield.
I went out for a drive to find a new location. When I found this pretty area, I realized I forgot my tripod. Bummer! So, a low shot today. :)

Eclipse Gemini 2 number 310 (SN09 CUG) pops out for the first time with its
new coat of paint featuring the new colours for Service 26 in Weinrot und
Weiss with a red topping. Buses 301 to 329 will all wear this livery and the
pace to complete this fleet group is marching along at an impressive rate.
Some vinyl brandings for the flagship route are expected shortly which will make
this service instantly recogniseable for passengers travelling between
Clerwood and Seton Sands and Tranent, a journey time of a little over an
hour and a half.

January 22, 2016: Testing the latest Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. Checking for updates to have some EXIF data uploaded to Flickr again. Still lacking the ability to load coordinates to Flickr.
The subject is just some dried hydrangeas in my back yard using the setting of Bettie XL Lens and Ina's 1935 Film. I haven't used some combinations in a while and want to use them again.

I'm not sure this makes me giggle, but every time I take notice of it, I do shake my head a bit. What would inspire someone to make two voluptuous female praying mantises the symbol of our town? The lilies above them I understand -- the direct translation of our stop on the Odakyu line is New Lily Hill. But the mantises? I've got no idea.
Newport Bus, 310 [YX12 DME]. Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 (B29F). New in April 2012. Photographed on an inbound 73 from Chepstow to Newport, which follows the A48 via Caerwent, Parc Seymour and Langstone.
Having researched this long standing route I have discovered it was originally provided by Red & White (as service no.1), it was later renumbered 13, operating from Gloucester to Cardiff. When the Severn Bridge opened in 1966 it was renumbered 73 and truncated to Chepstow. The Chepstow to Cardiff section was taken over by the 300 from Bristol, a joint Red & White and Bristol Omnibus operation. However this didn't last long and it reverted to Gloucester to Cardiff. Later in NBC days it was cut back to Gloucester - Newport. After take over by Stagecoach the route was briefly extended to Cheltenham, before being cut back to Chepstow. If any of the above detail is incorrect, then please feel free to correct me ;o)
