One of the main routes into the Forest of Bowland from the north-west is the road from Caton in the Lune Valley. This is signposted to the Trough of Bowland. It is a picturesque road that passes several farms with their associated buildings, on the way to Dunsop Bridge and Slaidburn, which is one of our favourite villages. The Forest of Bowland is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering some 310 square miles.

Hier passeert trein 327 naar Berlijn Gezondbronnen het buurtschap Dijkerhoek tussen Bathmen en Holten.

NS heritage unit N&W 8103 leads train 310 across the ugly arch bridge in Letchworth State Park in Portageville, NY on May 9, 2020. Photo angles around the bridge suck with all the deer fencing they put up around the ends to protect all the trees they planted to restore the "forest". Funny thing is that 40 years ago this was all wide open, so what would have been wrong with leaving it open. The vegetation would take over on its own soon enough.

I took way too many pictures today and I don't have time to edit them all so here, have a random one.
White-Tailed Deer.
From between 27 to 45 inches tall and 6 to 7 feet long and weighing 150-310 pounds (male) and 90 to 211 pounds (female). Tan or reddish brown in summer and grayish brown in winter. Belly, throat, nose band, eye ring and inside of ears are white. Tail brown and edged with white above often with a dark stripe down the center and white below. Black spots on side of chin. Buck's antlers can spread to 3 feet. Does rarely have antlers. Fawns are spotted.
The White-Tailed Deer inhabits farmlands, brushy areas, woods, suburbs and gardens.
They range throughtout the southern half of the southern tier of Canadian provinces and through most of the United States except for the Southwest.
