Two years ago today My Sister's Closet Blog was formed, with the hopes of one day being a well known blog. I'm not sure if it's well known or not, but what I do know is it has been one hell of a ride. It's a lot of work and yet so rewarding and that was compounded by the friendships made over the years. Without you all, the sponsors, the followers, and even the naysayers this blog would have died by now. You all kept me going and I appreciate all the support and love I have received. I poured my heart and soul into this blog, because of my love of fashion and photography. I can't believe it's been two years, the time passed so fast. I still enjoy blogging and I plan to continue on for as long as it's fun.
Many many thanks xoxo Indigo
D123 Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry brings up the rear “top and tailing” a “Santa Special” approaching Loughborough, Great Central Railway, 2nd December 2007.
Locomotive History
D123 was built at Crewe Works and entered traffic in November 1961. Like most of the class, it was initially allocated to Derby, where it worked express trains on the Cross Country and the Midland Main Line routes. The engine was allocated close to the Midland Main Line all its life. In 1973 the Midland Main Line services started to migrate from steam heating to electric heating of the coaching stock and D123 was one of fifty class 45 locomotives selected to have its Stone Vapour 4625 steam heating boiler replaced with electric train heating equipment (a Brush BL100-30 ETH auxiliary alternator) and emerged from Derby Works in April 1974 as 45125. It was withdrawn on 7th May 1987, and was towed for storage at March on the 20th May 1987. The engine was stored with a number of others for four years before purchase for preservation. It was towed to Hull Dairycoates depot in late 1991, where it stayed for the next seven years until D123 moved to Loughborough, arriving on April 2nd 1998.
EL 2nd NY100 stopped in front of the Port Jervis NY station on 11-17-1973. Train #54 had just departed eastbound for Hoboken as this freight rolled up to the station and stopped. Stillwell coaches for the Port Jervis-Hoboken commuter trains are on the left. Where were Delaware Division/New York Division freight crew changes conducted at this time, at Sparrowbush or near the station? U36C 3326, GP35 2571, SD45 3614. Howard Kent Jr.
The last days of sun have come and gone and we are now in a quick change with temps dropping like a guy with cooking utensils.
SOO 4402 works the yard at Rices Point, making a healthy transfer for Superior. Note the CP safety tank "CP 911".
There was a stunning milky sky and a warmth to the autumnal light this morning as I dropped the boys at school. I had spotted a composition which showed promise a couple of days previously over on Coniston Water so decided that the light would be just about right for it so headed straight over. Rather pleased with the result!
This was shot with a crop sensor Fujifilm X-T3 with kit lens, nothing fancy. I shot it as a 13 frame panorama and stitched each file together in Adobe Lightroom. Slight contrast and tone tweaks, plus a couple of grubby spots removed, and this is the result.
Life is a journey.
A lot of my photographs over the past 18 months have featured roads, tracks and paths. I think there are two reasons for this, firstly due to being in recovery from a prolapsed disc I haven't been able to get too far from where I park (although this is something I am working on for 2020) and the second is more subliminal with my thoughts being about moving on to something new which is drawing me towards these kind of images.
Today it was a bit dull out so I just went for a short walk around my local mini loop with Roki. It is one of my attempts at a resolution to get out more this year, the other is to be more positive and (try) to find a bit of self confidence....
Today I'm away to the Christmas-market on the castle Marienburg.
I'll comment your nice pics later.
Have a peaceful 2nd Advent!
