🍃 NGC 281 – The Pacman Nebula 🌌✨

Meet NGC 281, famously called the Pacman Nebula due to its distinctive shape. This bright emission nebula lies in the constellation Cassiopeia, showcasing glowing clouds of hydrogen gas sculpted by young, hot stars.

📍 Constellation: Cassiopeia

✨ Distance from Earth: ~9,200 light-years

📏 Apparent Size: ~30 arcminutes (about the size of the Full Moon)

🔭 Apparent Magnitude: +7.4

📡 Coordinates (J2000):

Right Ascension: 00h 52m 59s

Declination: +56° 37′ 19″

💡 Did You Know?

NGC 281 is an H II region, rich in ionized hydrogen that emits light when energized by nearby O- and B-type stars.

The dark patches and lanes are dense regions of dust and gas, potential birthplaces for new stars.

The name “Pacman” comes from its resemblance to the classic video game character, with a “bite” taken out of its circular shape.

Part of the IC 1590 star cluster is embedded within, powering the nebula’s glow.

I was at the market and could not remember the last time I had a root beer, so I bought me one.

I apologize for giving anyone the heebie-jeebies, but I just had to upload this - a black widow with either her prey or egg sac (I can't be too sure which it is!)... I was so itchy for the rest of the day after this encounter. ;)

for me, tomorrow is my first day,

so please, don't tempt me in the wrong way.

it's almost after midnight;

i can see the city lights, we're here.

change your mind tonight;

you belong to the city now.

and you're closer now, I know;

'you belong on the radio'.

i will not disturb you:

i was just returning you a compliment.

Boy did I need this tonight, what a long working week!! I'm off tomorrow so hopefully can catch up with everyone's streams over the weekend :-)

Arriva Yorkshire made some major service changes in May 2017. With the 282 being withdrawn and the new 280 service between Dewsbury Town Centre & Thornhill Edge, some services on week day evenings and sundays on the 281 have been extended to Birstall Retail Park.

About 3 years ago, Arriva did run to Birstall Retail Park from Dewsbury in competition with SGI Buses but both of their services where withdrawn.

ooh man, it's been a while since i've uploaded anything.

then again, that isn't a surprise. haha

but yeah, i've had a pretty hectic week last week and I'm trying to find a day i can literally just bum out and not do anything. I'm thinking that's today.

i've also went on a shopping rampage this past week because of all this stress...it was not good and i feel kind of guilty for spending so much money but whatever! haha

anyways, my boyfriend went up to Redmond, Seattle yesterday for a job intern interview today with Microsoft and he got it! and its a really really good pay for him! so happy for him! the only bad thing about it is that he'll be gone for 3 months in the summer :'[ hopefully it'll only be up in norcal so he can come home on some weekends...but it'll probably up in Seattle. haha. boo :[

but it could be worse so i'm trying not to complain about it. haha

but on the bright side, i'm glad he got the job!

oooh and i also got accepted to the UCI medical center volunteer job!

the only downside is that i'm gonna have to get a TB skin testing :[[

plus, with this volunteering job, i don't think i'll have much time for a social life. siiigh.

not like i had one in the first place with school and work anyways, so why not throw another load onto my busy life! yaay..
