* "suddenly, like a jet of water
your tears came
out of a split chest
this passionate stream
drowning my will to live"
"mujer o agua"
"De pronto, surtidor
de un pecho que se parte,
el chorro apasionado rompe
la sombra
como una mujer
que abriera los balcones sollozando
desnuda, a las estrellas, con afan
de un morirse sin causa,
que fuera loca vida inmensa.
Y ya no vuelve nunca mas,
mujer o agua
aunque queda en nosotros, esatallando,
real e inexistente,
sin poderse parar.
Juan Ramon Mantecon aka "mantequa" to his friends is considered one of Spain's greatest poets
of the 20th. century, writer, painter and inventor of the Latin American concept of "Poesia Pura"
/pure poetry/ In 1956 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Millions of followers mourned his death at the age of 99. Many still do.
p.s. most of his works have been translated into dozens of languages; the above, to my
knowledge was not.
His works have been the inspiration for many of my humble paintings and drawings in the past.

www.lonelyplanet.com/jordan/sights/other/lot-s-cave
Lot, the nephew of Abraham, features repeatedly in the colourful annals of the Dead Sea’s southern shores. Lot’s Cave, just past the Lisan Peninsula, is where he and his daughters apparently lived after fleeing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot’s wife famously turned into a pillar of salt after looking back at the smouldering city. In an eyebrow-raising incident of incest that’s remarkable even for the Bible, Lot’s two daughters spiked their father’s drink, had sex with him and then nine months later gave birth to his grandsons/sons Moab and Ben-Ammi, the forefathers of the Moabite and Ammonite peoples. The cave, a 10-minute climb up a steep flight of steps, is surrounded by the ruins of a small Byzantine church (5th to 8th centuries), a reservoir and some mosaics, which were excavated by the British Museum. Remains from the cave date to the early Bronze Age (3300–2000 BC) and an inscription in the cave mentions Lot by name. The cave is 2km northeast of Safi and well signposted from the Dead Sea Highway. Regular minibuses run between Karak and Safi (550 fils, one hour). If you’re relying on public transport, be prepared for a 2km walk from the highway.
African Wild Dogs
South Luangwa NP, Zambia
Photographing African Wild Dogs is always a bit of a challenge. Besides the greatest challenge of finding them, it´s tricky to get contrast in their face because it´s mostly totally black. You have to find a compromise as you don´t want to burn out the bright parts.

“In life one has a choice to take one of two paths: to wait for some special day - or to celebrate each special day.” ~ Rasheed Ogunlaru
As we were nearing the end of our hike, this scene caught my attention....afternoon light playing off the trunks of these big old trees, a lonely, yet inviting bench, and gorgeous autumn colors reflecting in the lake....as tired and worn out as I was, I just had to stop for one last shot :-) Have a great Tuesday, and as always, thanks for stopping by to visit!!!!

The Winchester Mystery House is a mansion in Northern California, once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester. The property and mansion have been claimed to be haunted—including by Winchester herself—since construction commenced in 1884. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around the clock, without interruption, until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased.[3] The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million (equivalent to over $75 million in 2012). It now serves as a tourist attraction.

Jumping with the Union Jack! Yes, I'm feeling Diamond Jubilee inspired. :)
It was great to do this Union Jack Flag jump without pouring rain like another time - in fact we even had time to do two different types of jumps, so look out for another upload (Processed in Lightroom 4 with Whipped Cream Lightroom Preset / Queen Pack) - it's been ages since we did a jump, and we're so close to the big one hundred too!

Previously centrally located in a 19th C. pavilion in the Vondelpark, Dutch Film Museum incorporated in 2009 three other film institutions and has been renamed into The EYE Film Institute Netherlands. At the same time construction of the new museum started. In April of 2012, the Queen opened the new museum. Located on Amsterdam’s waterfront just behind the Central Station, therefore easily accessible with a free ferry and open until late at night, The EYE Film Institute has immediately become one of the main attractions of the Dutch capital.
Designed by the Viennese architectural firm Delugan Meissl Ass., which had numerous successes in architectural competitions and which became famous for their Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, the EYE building corresponds in its design with the located nearby high-rise Shell Oil tower. Constructed at the Ij Lake in the years 1965-1971 and now called Overhoeks Tower since Shell is no more the building’s owner, it is today regarded as the classic example of the Dutch architecture of 1960-ties. While the Overhoeks Tower is a rather modest building turned at 45 degrees to the lake, the new Eye edifice strives to emanate power and modernization. It brings to mind architecture of steel and concrete of the Soviet era of 1970-ties. Then again, a tourist will be pleasantly surprised upon entering the building, where intelligent division of 1,200 sq. meters of exhibition space, beautiful lighting and a simple white modern finish captivate visitors.
Re-Upload of this amazing sunset i've witnessed from the balcony of my former house, back in 2012. Cloudy sunsets are always the best, the sun rays turn the clouds into massive fire balls in the sky, creating a jaw-dropping atmosphere.
This re-upload contains a few improvements on the editing. Unfortunately I have lost the original file and had to edit the already edited version of this image. That's why my old watermark style is still in there.

ISO 100 f/11 1/200s 1 SB-800 @ 24mm 1/64th power inside of pocket softbox with black construction paper flagging the middle.
Nothing exciting here, typical dark field lighting of a piece of glassware. I set this shot up, because I don't see setup shots for these very often. Some people might include a sketch of the setup which is not always easy to understand. I tried this shot back and January in my dinning room, but I was not happy with the result that I got. The two large pieces of foam board on the sides of the glass are used to prevent the glass from picking up any reflections from anything else in the room. This shot was the first one I took. I tried stepping up the power, but I preferred this shot at 1/64th.
until tomorrow,

Fort Lauderdale /ˌfɔərt ˈlɔːdərdeɪl/ (frequently abbreviated as Ft. Lauderdale) is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, 28 miles (45 km) north of Miami. It is the county seat of Broward County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 165,521. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census.
The city is a popular tourist destination, with an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C) and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. Greater Fort Lauderdale which takes in all of Broward County hosted 12 million visitors in 2012, including 2.8 million international visitors. The city and county in 2012 collected $43.9 million from the 5% hotel tax it charges, after hotels in the area recorded an occupancy rate for the year of 72.7 percent and an average daily rate of $114.48. The district has 561 hotels and motels comprising nearly 35,000 rooms. Forty six cruise ships sailed from Port Everglades in 2012. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts.
Fort Lauderdale is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the Second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale (1782–1838), younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel James Lauderdale. William Lauderdale was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort. However, development of the city did not begin until 50 years after the forts were abandoned at the end of the conflict. Three forts named "Fort Lauderdale" were constructed; the first was at the fork of the New River, the second at Tarpon Bend on the New River between the Colee Hammock and Rio Vista neighborhoods, and the third near the site of the Bahia Mar Marina.
The area in which the city of Fort Lauderdale would later be founded was inhabited for more than two thousand years by the Tequesta Indians. Contact with Spanish explorers in the 16th century proved disastrous for the Tequesta, as the Europeans unwittingly brought with them diseases, such as smallpox, to which the native populations possessed no resistance. For the Tequesta, disease, coupled with continuing conflict with their Calusa neighbors, contributed greatly to their decline over the next two centuries. By 1763, there were only a few Tequesta left in Florida, and most of them were evacuated to Cuba when the Spanish ceded Florida to the British in 1763, under the terms of the Treaty of Paris (1763), which ended the Seven Years' War. Although control of the area changed between Spain, United Kingdom, the United States, and the Confederate States of America, it remained largely undeveloped until the 20th century.
The Fort Lauderdale area was known as the "New River Settlement" before the 20th century. In the 1830s there were approximately 70 settlers living along the New River. William Cooley, the local Justice of the Peace, was a farmer and wrecker, who traded with the Seminole Indians. On January 6, 1836, while Cooley was leading an attempt to salvage a wrecked ship, a band of Seminoles attacked his farm, killing his wife and children, and the children's tutor. The other farms in the settlement were not attacked, but all the white residents in the area abandoned the settlement, fleeing first to the Cape Florida Lighthouse on Key Biscayne, and then to Key West.
The first United States stockade named Fort Lauderdale was built in 1838, and subsequently was a site of fighting during the Second Seminole War. The fort was abandoned in 1842, after the end of the war, and the area remained virtually unpopulated until the 1890s. It was not until Frank Stranahan arrived in the area in 1893 to operate a ferry across the New River, and the Florida East Coast Railroad's completion of a route through the area in 1896, that any organized development began. The city was incorporated in 1911, and in 1915 was designated the county seat of newly formed Broward County.
Fort Lauderdale's first major development began in the 1920s, during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The 1926 Miami Hurricane and the Great Depression of the 1930s caused a great deal of economic dislocation. In July 1935, an African-American man named Rubin Stacy was accused of robbing a white woman at knife point. He was arrested and being transported to a Miami jail when police were run off the road by a mob. A group of 100 white men proceeded to hang Stacy from a tree near the scene of his alleged robbery. His body was riddled with some twenty bullets. The murder was subsequently used by the press in Nazi Germany to discredit US critiques of its own persecution of Jews, Communists, and Catholics.
When World War II began, Fort Lauderdale became a major US base, with a Naval Air Station to train pilots, radar operators, and fire control operators. A Coast Guard base at Port Everglades was also established.
On July 4, 1961 African Americans started a series of protests, wade-ins, at beaches that were off-limits to them, to protest "the failure of the county to build a road to the Negro beach". On July 11, 1962 a verdict by Ted Cabot went against the city's policy of racial segregation of public beaches.
Today, Fort Lauderdale is a major yachting center, one of the nation's largest tourist destinations, and the center of a metropolitan division with 1.8 million people.

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill - Stumbled across this lovely place by chance. Did not realize it was such a prominent landmark. Located just couple of miles from woodland, WA – this mill still holds the original structural integrity, grinds with stones even today and is water powered. Being a little more than a century old, the place is definitely rustic. The stream of water, the covered bridge and the colors of the fall season definitely adds to the splendid scenery. If you are around here is the pacific north west, now is the best time to visit the place, as the fall colors are at peak. If not, you can always enjoy the same thru my shots !
Yesterday I was lucky enough to not be working…. I went to Bondi bright and early, I was using my housing properly for the first time. So much fun! This was taken just after sunrise whilst paddling out the back…
Loved the colours that the backlit wave produced. More photos to come!

Waterfilm is a series filmed since 2012 based on the idea of filming with a freehand camera for a period of exactly one minute. This series illustrates the meditative qualities of water in an urban environment. It is my belief that the close observation of this essential element has the ability to influence our perceptions. Each film is intended to be a short meditation – take your time to feel it, but don’t swim away too far...
