“The mountains were his masters. They rimmed in life. They were the cup of reality, beyond growth, beyond struggle and death. They were his absolute unity in the midst of eternal change.” ~ Thomas Wolfe

A dreary spring day in the Tetons...still beats any day in the Midwest :-) Not sure what the yellow ground cover was, but it provided a nice splash of color against those dark skies. One week from today we will be be enjoying some glorious mountain views in Glacier....can't wait to get there!!!! Lost my position at work today thanks to good old union bumping rights, but fortunately for me, I had another position to take; not exactly what I want to do, but in this day and age, I have to be thankful for even having a job :-) Have a great Friday, and as always, thanks for your visits and support. I will catch up with everyone soon.

Very poor lighting with a cloudy day and tree cover hence was high ISO, low shutter speed (1600 @ 1/60). Was pleased however for the opportunity to see these guys and get some shots of them.

The Sand Artist created this really nice swirling pattern during the creation he made on 21 February 2012. He just managed to get the final edge finished and seconds later the sea started to wash it away. Nature is a fickle friend. The piece was called "Watching, Waiting".

My interest in the building attracted the attention of somebody within the structure, who sent a security guard out to forbid me from taking pictures while on their side of the street. He personally was of a different opinion, but felt his job security had a higher priority.

from my trip to NY in october.

EXHIBITION "Terre promise" from October 1st to November 2nd 2013

My next exhibition will take place from October 1st to November 2nd 2013, at Obamo Café, 124, rue du Dauphiné 69003 LYON.

The vernissage will be held on Saturday, October 5th 2013 at 7pm.

The exhibition shows a series of black and white photographs taken in Lomé (Togo), between december 2012 and january 2013.

I travelled with my wife, being of Togolese origin, for a wedding in her family. I left without defined subject, trying to avoid the stereotypes about Africa.

Walking in the streets of Lomé, I collected a serie of symbolic scenes, that interrogates what Togolese people call "Democratorship".

Before leaving, the choice of black and white had come self-evident. A mean to resist the temptation to exoticism often induced by the color. A way to focus on the meaning.

Photographs were taken with a Leica M6, a Summicron 50mm objective and a Ilford FP4 film. The development and printing (digital, 40x60 cm) have been done by Gris Souris (Lyon). I scanned the negatives with an Epson V700.

This is the 1000th image I have posted on Flickr since I joined in June 2014.

The original photo was a tail light from a 2012 Toyota. I mostly just experimented with color variations and this is the result.

Two Together 22nd-July-12 (30/52) - The theme for Week 30 is... Double Exposure / Composite Photography - this is my take on it :-) the first is Alister and Jamie walking also the sunset just a minute later blended together to give what I think is a pleasing image :-)

Much emphasis is placed on knowledge and memory,

intelligence is worshipped and information is mankind's god.

Yet these too are trivial and shall turn to dust.

People cling to memories yet these too are mortal

and shall fade with age and die with death.

No, what is immortal, and is important

does not age, does not die, and is rarely sought.

Wisdom and love are the fruit of the soul

and these do not age but grow with time.

Yet these treasures are ignored and mocked.

Many people believe they possess wisdom,

yet they do not seek it.

Many covet love, and wish it for themselves,

yet are reluctant to give it,

sharing it only with close friends and family.

Wisdom and love are the food of the soul

yet people stuff their souls with hatred and ignorance,

and while their bodies live healthy and well,

souls suffer and starve.

Wisdom often comes with age but

wisdom does not come from age.

Indeed, there are children who are wise

and elders who are fools.

No, knowledge and wisdom are enemies.

Knowledge is of the world and for the world,

wisdom is of the soul and for the soul.

Knowledge is nothing more than trivial facts

that help make us feel good about ourselves,

but wisdom is true understanding of life and what is life.

Only when one has wisdom, rather than knowledge,

can one truly understand the purpose of dying,

and more importantly, the purpose for living.

White-throated Sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) on territory in the woods near the large gannet colony on Bonaventure Island of the east coast of Quebec, Canada.

This bird was observed while hiking from the wharf on the west side of the island through the interior to the large nesting colony of gannets on the eastern edge where the cliffs exist.

The Cabbage White butterfly is common species in England. Lots of photographers may not bother to photograph them. This image is one of my hundreds butterfly photos which I took this summer and had been igrored. But I found it isn't bad at all when I looked back.

it looks far more dramatic now.

After capturing a few hundred shots of leaves passing by as the stars passed overhead, I decided to try another location with a less definite current. It turned out great! I can't wait to show you the time-lapse video.

I often think about how incredible things are from a distance. Mountains, cities, clouds. They look so massive and intimidating. But when you get closer, you lose that perspective. You start to see every detail, everything that the object is made of, and the mystery can be lost. To be wrapped in a cloud would be the most magical thing in the world to me, and so I decided to create that reality for myself.

I am updating from my hotel in Amsterdam. I am having a great time in this city. It is so quaint and laid back, healthy and lively, but also calming at the same time. I think all of the canals help. I taught a workshop yesterday and it went great - I met some amazing people, some who I already felt like I knew for ages. I really believe that the heart of a city lies with the city's inhabitants, and this city is beaming with life and love. I am so happy to be here.

I have been thinking of shooting firefly for a couple of days. However, the weather condition is not steady and rains a lot. Yesterday I decided to go to Hsinchu to shoot them but it kept raining. Still tried to get a snap shot~

Who knew that traveling to new places could be so much fun....we really did have the time of our life in Glacier and the Canadian Rockies. This was taken from the shore of Two Medicine Lake as we waited for our sight seeing boat tour to leave; couldn't have asked for a better morning!!!! Great boat tour and hike to Upper Two Medicine Lake....more pics to follow one of these days. Have a fabulous week, and as always, thanks for all your visits and comments :-)

It was spring! The "Kawazu cherry tree" of my garden has begun to bloom!

Kawazu is a kind of the early blooming to bloom in February.

Perhaps, this will be in full blossom in about 4 or 5 days... :)
