From the archives....I can't remember the name of this lake, but I do remember it was somewhere along the Icefields Parkway, which is one of the most beautiful drives in North America, at least in my opinion. And in just six short weeks, we will be headed back to this area for a two week adventure :-) Thanks to many of my contacts for helping to identify this lake....Bow Lake; next time around I will be using the GPS so I don't have to worry about remembering :-)

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and Father's Day....off to start my new job this week; have a good one, and as always, thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!

Did you wake up this morning with a sense of hope in your heart? I did. I was listening to one of the Sunday talk shows and my favorite economist seemed to have a bullish sense for America in 2012. Good news. This little doe is bounding about with joy in a pristine world and she just seems to symbolize hope to me.

She is pretty large if you've time today.

A title escapes me! Took this at Rowerdennan not so long ago. It was a wonderful morning then and I was lucky to still meet the ice.

Song dedicated to my dear friend MAG

You still have time left, please be strong, wake up my dear friend!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Somewhere over the rainbow

Way up high

In the land that I heard of

Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow

Skies are blue

And the dreams that you dare you dream

Really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star

And wake up where the clouds

Are far behind me

Where troubles melt like lemon drops

Away above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me

If happy little bluebirds fly

Above the rainbow

Why, oh why, can't I ...."

It seems everything coming from my sewing machine lately is blooming! My sweet daughter wants more table mats. This one was fun! It's just shy of 20". And another piece for my collection challenge set. Details on my blog: freezeframe03.blogspot.com/2012/05/blooming-dresden-table...

She was a real beauty and looked so majestic as she passed by, the sun on her fur and on the long grass was incredible.

The many layers of Alabama Hills. Located just west of Lone Pine, CA.

this was the last day at Arunachala and I asked someone to take my photo in front of the holy hill.

At this time I had completed 50 rounds around the hill, coming close to 800km in fifty days.

This isn't a very exciting image but is special for me as it's the closest I have ever managed to get to a butterfly to photograph it. Last year many of my butterfly images were taken with my 300mm lens as it enabled me to stay a little further away from them and so not disturb them. I took this with my 105mm macro lens and was able to get shots from different angles. I wonder now if it was newly emerged from its chrysalis.

La Ceja, Colombia; 2.300 meters above sea level.

The Red-bellied grackle is endemic to Colombia where it is found in all three Andean ranges at altitudes of 800 to 2,400m (2,600 to 7,900ft) above sea level.

Its natural habitat is tropical forest, but the trees are increasingly being felled for timber and to make way for agriculture, and little virgin forest remains within its range.

H. pyrohypogaster was formerly classified as "endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature but in 2012 the threat level was lowered to "vulnerable". This is on the basis that, although its forest habitat remains under pressure, it has been found at some new locations where it was not known before. The total population is now estimated to be in the range 2,500 to 9,999 individuals.

Looking through some "old" files, from 6 years ago, I came across a bitter cold day that GSP and I were treated to a red carpet day on the Grafton & Upton. Former TP&W-BLE F-7A 1501 was an instant celebrity once it had entered freight service on the 15 mile former interurban line in 2012. The railroad was fortunate enough to so many great people working there, all of who I am proud to call lifelong friends. Funny thing was, I had either worked with them, or did eventually. The guys always treated me great and if I made a request, they always helped out. This day, the daily freight was heavy to Upton, requiring 3 units and the "slug". Aside from a great heater in the F-unit, they crew was gracious enough to put it on the lead for us. Here the 1501, leads Geeps 1751-1801 and slug 1800 on its trek through the snow covered landscape on its' way to Hopedale, MA on February 7, 2014.
