At the top, where the old analog channel 2 antenna stood for most of the tower's history, is KDOC/56, radiating on channel 12. Below that is KCBS/2, radiating on channel 31. Below those are KCBS/93.1 main and auxiliary antennas (the white stacks of bays), one a Dielectric and one a Jampro.

Bear #2 on our adventure to the Arctic Circle

The first one was a black bear on the side of the road.

There was only one bear that was walking up and down the creek where there were lots of salmon going up stream to spawn.

The rangers were saying that this one had been there for about 3 hrs. We were there for only about 30 min in which time the bear got close to the platform which allowed for good pictures.

Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

This is stranger #2 on my 100 strangers project. Well, in fact, after the initial success with stranger #1, I asked a man holding a stall selling roasted chickens if he would take part. His name was Pascal and he suggested I photograph his wife too. Unfortunately, both photos came out slightly blurred... I'm using a manual focus lens so this adds to the difficulty even if I use f/4, even f/5.6 before taking a few at f/2.8 even f/2. At home I manage quite well, but in a different environment it's a different story.

So, to get to Jacqueline ! I went back to the market on Sunday morning. I was nervous and walked around a bit before going up to anyone. I noticed people's eyes going to the camera as I passed them. There must be something in having a smaller camera but I love the quality I get with my dslr. A couple of people turned me down and I was ready to give up, when this lady saved my day! I told her I loved taking photos and she told me her son in law took photos too! That was the ice-breaker, and she went on to tell me she is 74, her husband was a professional cyclist (no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking). She used to live in town but moved to the country, her daughter lives in London at the moment and is having a great time learning English. We just had a great conversation! It was no problem to get a couple of shots, all in focus! As we parted, she told me she'd tell any friends she met in the market to come to me for a photo. Thanks Jacqueline!

First day flying my kites after a five month absence and there is no wind. What a let down. But this sunset made it all that more bearable.

Technically nowhere near what I wanted but love her expression/emotion!

‘SCENE’ IN SCOTLAND AGAIN 2

on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

From time to time, I publish blog a day for a limited period.

In the past it has been at a holiday time or to report on the Coach and Bus show at the NEC.

So for no other reason that it is Easter and maybe we all need a bit of cheering up, I will publish this blog today (Easter Saturday) and further blogs on Easter Sunday and Monday.

I had been wondering what to publish when out of the blue came images from friends Peter Rose and Stuart Montgomery.

It is their work then that will be on show over the next few days and of course with their co-operation and permission.

Both of these gentlemen are supporters of the ‘Buses/Trains in the environment’ concept so out of respect for their views, the images have not been cropped by myself.

Peter’s first contribution to this exercise is a selection of Class 40 locomotive images taken in 1975.

At that time Coronavirus would have been the the stuff of science fiction nightmares and social distancing was unheard of.

The Cunard cruise ship Queen Mary 2 on her trip to Hong Kong on 28 February 2007.

Because of its vast size, Queen Mary 2 could not be moored at Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, the normal berth for cruise ships. It was mooored in Kwai Chung Container Port. It was impossible to get a decent shot of the entire ship.

A lovely town where even some months after the Skrypal affair there was a lot of security on the streets.

Fortunately there were a few buses as well!
