bad focus, because 1) I was drunk 2) I relied on the eye-controlled AF of my EOS 50E (without controlling it with my eye, apparently)
taken while lying on these.
desaturated a bit in PS, because it was crab red.
I don't like the Superia for its colors, or the grain. But it is the only color film with ISO800 I can get here.
"If you can't excel with talent, triumph with effort"- Steven G. Weinbaum
1. I chose this quote because it inspires myself and others to strive to their goals and it helps people realize that hard work pays off no matter what.
2. I chose this photo because I thought it accurately displays this quote, as we see a woman in the gym working hard and giving effort.
3. I think the red tape on the woman's fists is the most visually striking in the entire image because it shows extra grit and accentuates the punch and the effort
Note to self.... never do a firmware update at 12:00 am. In my attempt to update my camera to firmware 1.2, I have now render my camera dead. The idiotic Olympus firmware update process can so easily break your camera. I thought the firmware was complete and press the Next button but apparently it is still updating. So after pressing Next it says it can't detect my camera. So I thought my camera went to sleep, so I turn it off and turn it back on. BAD MOVE! I think next time I need to stare at the camera and see when the OK screen come up. I mean what if you went away and come back and the screen is still black... you would assume that maybe it is done and it just went to sleep given the Next button on the software. Now I'll have to probably send it in to Ontario to get it fix. Panasonic firmware update process is so much better. Download and put on sd card, go to camera and go update firmware. While it is updating, you see a freakin progress bar or some text telling you when it is done!
First day trying out my new Lensbay. Went to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and took some flower pictures with the lens wide open at f/2. I will play around with some other f-stops to try for a sharper center next time, but boy this was fun.
On my way north, from Patagonia to Phoenix, I had just time for one stop. I chose Madera Canyon for a few reasons:
1) It had the right geographical location.
2) I knew I could get photos of the Mexican Jay there, and I had not one acceptable from the days of yore.
3) I glimpsed the Arizona (former Strickland's) Woodpecker there, once upon a time in the distant era of 1998. So short a glimpse that I of course didn't even get a bad shot of it, we barely managed to ID it.
So, to Madera Canyon I went and had some very nice hours at the feeders of Santa Rita Lodge. Ticked off my items, starting with the Jay and ending with the Woodpecker! Time spent very well :-)

EMP Frozen Delight
Three coins (2 US quarters and a US penny) frozen in layer one, and two safety pins frozen at right angles in layer 2. I actually allowed layer one to freeze a ''shell'' and then broke a hole in the middle of it and suspended one pin down through the shell and laid the other on top of the shell. Then I filled it deeper to create a cube larger than everything.

I wish I could show you the INSIDE, but I saw a man get his media card taken away by security guards when he took a picture of his child in a stroller in the lobby. They are VERY strict about photos, cell phones, videos, etc., in the inside of the house
1. Fallen Leaves, backyard
2. I wanted to show how I felt isolated and wanted to just be alone at the time
3. I scattered leaves on the ground and made sure to keep one far from the group. I tried going as low as possible and took the picture
My boys were dancing around the kitchen singing "I'm too sexy for my shirt" and it was hysterical. Everyone joined in singing the songs and the boys danced with abandon!

2 of 2
I've been pretty rushed of my feet recently, hence the lack of posts. I've got a ton of pics to post though!
For the afternoon of Day 2, I had booked a tour with O'Brien's (www.obriensboattours.com) out of Bay Bulls.
Puffins, baby! PUFFINS!
I've been wanting another crack at these guys for years. My telescopic still wasn't quite good enough. I need a bigger lens.
I used to do nails. You'd think that I'd take better care of my own. Nope. I'm not that high maintenance or that interested in that much pampering.
I took this in the cafeteria of the local hospital. My mom is here again. Dad thinks she'll be home in about five days.
Made by Strunal and manufactured in Luby, Czech Republic on the 6th April 2001 - serial number 5454. I love this guitar! :-)
I bought it when I went on a tour of (as in a trip around) the Czech Republic. By day 2, I was getting itchy fingers to play some music, so we went looking for a cheap toy guitar. When I found this, I was initially concerned that it was the equivalent of £30 (because I assumed it was going to get trashed carrying it all around the country) but it had such a lovely sound that I had to get it. Funnily enough, I don't think many days have gone by since then when I haven't played it - that £30 was one of the best investments I've ever made! Ironically the strings which I bought back in the UK to replace the original ones (that had, admittedly, become trashed) cost about 2/3rds the price of the guitar itself! My dad also helped lower the action making it the super-mean superfine machine it is today! I couldn't be without this guitar!
Update : Strunal sent me a Christmas card via e-mail last year (2005) after I sent them a nice e-mail saying how much I love their guitar! I think I'm also on their website saying as much with a copy of this daft picture! "I'm a grown man and I like to play a tiny guitar intended for a tiny child"

Brachychiton hybrid "Bella Donna"
B. acerifolius x B. populneus
Australian native.
I love Brachychiton, so no wonder I've chosen it to plant in my front yard, and it has not disappointed.
I have this sick obsession with buying books. I love to read and I'll buy anything that I can get my hands on. All four corners of my room are full of books...I think I own well over 200 of them.
My mom wants to smack me because I won't put them on shelfs and they are collecting dust.

These things are probably going to be in my 365 photos a lot because:
1. They keep me going.
and
2. I'm not very creative when it comes to this 365 thing. xD
Today was freaky for me and I needed one. The cats went to the vet today and I was very stressed because the last time one of our cats went to the vet...
...well. D:
When they came home safe and sound (yet somewhat angry) I definitely needed something to get me unstressed!
(Detail 2) I should have been more careful, more careful with you

1. I am thankful I stopped to speak with Carmen Holding when she was cheering on the men in the See Dick Tri (athalon).
2. I am thankful that I get to flow generosity! :)
3. I am thankful for the little girl that showed me that sticks are magical. She even showed me how to wave it like a wand. I don’t think she was even three but she is an ace with her wand waving wrist action! She could totally give lessons! :)
4. I am thankful for the added pleasantness to my Sunday walk.
5. I am thankful that the way I talk about people behind their backs is the same way I do on my appreciation lists because then people I allow into my life know what I am saying about them when they are not in my presence! :) I think people like that knowing! :)
6. I am thankful for skirts on hot summer days.
7. I am thankful that the grape tomatoes I planted are in the yellow and orange stages of ripeness! :)
8. I am thankful for using Ani Phyo’s fudge cake recipe for the crust portion of my raw chocolate pie. Oh. My. Goodness! It was so fudgy and chocolatey tasting! [drool]
9. I am thankful for the increased amount of writing I am doing this week.
10. I am thankful that I have decided to be okay with the fact that my work is currently in a transition state because it means I am growing, evolving, changing and moving forward in that work. I also recognise that it is often in a transition state in some part .. and maybe that is a very good thing.
11. I am thankful for the light between 6:00 and 8:00 in the morning. I love that the sun is low in the sky and gently sneaks in to say, “Good mornin’ Darlin! Time to get up and go play outside! :)”
12. I am thankful for the commissionaire at the Legislative building that contacted the proper authorities to let them know there is a Canada Goose with a dislocated leg. Apparently the goose has been that way for years. Glad I inquired anyway because I found it interesting speaking with the commissionaire.
13. I am thankful for the letters of appreciation that magically showed up this week! :)
Thank you for you. It is okay if you don’t know all the answers right this red-hot minute, they will come. Keep on keeping on, this unfolding and revealing of you is beautiful to watch. It will make sense soon. Take care of you and your loving ones. :)
Everytime I am feeling shitty, I look at this photos and
1) I can't stop laughing
2) I wonder what I was thinking.
Personality wise I am quite a serious person. Photos is my way of having fun in a trashy manner
:D
(Say hello to my nosehairs!)
project 1 ideas
For project 1 I chose the play A Little Night Music.. I have not really decided the style of art I want to use, but Art Nouveau is the one I like better (I like the abstract style of the colors).
For #1 I want to incorporate Victorian font to the poster.
For #2 I would like to have it complete in Nouveau style.
For #3 I also want it Nouveau style but it feels more like Arts and Crafts style.
