1. I used my camera and two toys.
2. I wanted to show them meeting and the intimidation between both of them before they fight.
3. I got low on the floor and shot behind the grey toy. I used rule of thirds and leading lines.
For the afternoon of Day 2, I had booked a tour with O'Brien's (www.obriensboattours.com) out of Bay Bulls.
A fantastic tour with great sights.
I didn't do too well with this one. These juvenile Bald Eagles were out of my camera range, but I had to share; they were fighting in mid air and it was something epic to see.

I created a digital print from my painted drawings of a three headed Salem girl on photoshop, which I then had printed onto fabric. Prior to this digital print I had never used photoshop, henceforth I am fairly pleased with the result (December 2014)
Fact #2: I LOVE BABIES!
Ha, this wasn't intended to be my fact, but I had a busy day today. I woke up at 8 am to go babysit the most adorable baby I know, LucyVee Jaime Watson. I really do love babies though. I don't want one anytime soon, but it's going to be so much fun when I do. It's hanging out with cute babies like Lucy that are incredibly well behaved that remind me my biological clock is ticking. I don't think that the alarm will go off for another ten years or so.

Overnight: Namaste Lodge / Snowland Cabins.

1. I think this photo shows rhythm because the color emphasis on the red apple
2. I think the red apple contrast is visually appealing.
Just had to take this due to two main reasons:
1. It was raining and I wanted to spend some time outside
2. I love water droplets! =]

#2. I was in Rotterdam this afternoon and saw some interesting things. It's sort of an impression of Rotterdam and it's industry.
There are three more pictures in this serie.
1. My essential question was, How dangerous does something have to be make someone concerned?
2. I arrived at this question by thinking of fear and what makes someone scared. I also was thinking about how long does it take someone to be cornered for the person in danger.
3. Another question I came up with were, What makes something dangerous? The question I ended up using gave me a bigger challenge I feel like.
4. My photos is answer my essential question by causing fear because she is hanging from a fence and not being able to see the ground causing concern because she looks higher up than she actual is.
5. My photo could have been better I should have worked more with angles and tried not to show the ground as much. But there are some photos that I do like.

Sharon Hayes’ Revolutionary Love 2: I Am Your Best Fantasy is presented by Creative Time with the Walker Art Center and the UnConvention. Revolutionary Love 2: I Am Your Best Fantasy is a part of Democracy in America, a national public art initiative organized by Creative Time. The UnConvention is a collaboration by many organizations initiated by Northern Lights.
1. Depth of Field - I really wanted to try and get just about everything in focus (mainly the background through the "frame" of the tree) and have the branch of the tree be slightly in focus. I think I accomplished this pretty well, in my opinion.
2. I didn't use a tripod for this shot, and luckily is was a pretty bright day so I didn't need that slow of a shutter speed. If I knew about this in class assignment beforehand, i'm sure I would've brought a tripod to use, but you gotta work with what you have.
3. My focal point in this photograph was the two small trees and two small rocks in the "frame" of the big tree. I wanted these to be basically in the center of the frame. They have a nice balance between the two rocks and two trees. I like it.
4. The forground played a big part in this photograph because I wanted to have the tree branch leading you into the trunk of the tree, as well as wrapping your eyes around the "frame" that the branch itself created.
5. I had a few other photos that really showed off the amazing sky that was out there today, but I ended up settling on this photograph instead which really doesn't show much of the sky. I made sure to have the sky in this image, but my main focus was the bright colors of the grass, as well as the crazy texture of the tree trunk. I wish I would have utilized the sky a bit more though.
6. Going back to number 4, I really like the way the tree branch is utilized as a line to guide you around the "frame" and into the tree trunk. It starts you up at the top of the image where all the branches and pine needs are and slowly wraps you around the "frame" to the center.
7. I didn't capture relatively any noticeable movement in this picture. It's a pretty calm day outside when it comes to the wind, and there wasn't much activity going on. There were a few cars that drove by that I couldve used to capture movement, but I really didn't want any vehicles in this photograph.
8. Though it might not seem like I was dealing with any intense weather, the sun really made it easier to take some great shots. The warmth outside (though unnoticeable on camera) made it a lot easier to shoot for longer periods of time, and also my hands wouldnt shake when I took a picture, like it would have if I was in the cold. But anyway, the intense sunlight really illuminated the tree trunk and brought out its nice texture and rigidness.
9. Dealing with the "Golden Hours", I really didn't have much of a choice with this photograph. The small time frame dealt with us trying to use what we had. I can't complain though. It's a beautiful day and the sun was out lighting up the ground in front of us. It turned out pretty nice in my opinon, though I do think some shots wouldve turned out amazing with a nice setting sun in the background, or some intense shadows.
10. I like that the horizon of this photograph cuts right through the center of the tree's "frame." Usually, like you said, the center isn't the best place for the horizon. But I think with the tree being one of the main focuses in this photograph, it doesn't really feel abnormal to have the horizon in the center of the tree's "frame". I feel this is one of those scenarios where it looks right.
11. For the point of view for this shot, I tried many different positions actually. I settled on this one because I liked how close I was to the tree branch, and it felt as thought the tree branch was kind of pulling you in from the top and leading you to the tree's "frame" and the tree's trunk. It almost feels as if the tree branch is leading through the photograph and hanging right over your head. I really like that branch in this image.
1st of 2 I pulled out of a vacant home. They seemed to have gotten lost as I found them huddled together in the living room.

I love the DOF and bokeh I get out of this lens. It isn't exactly a sharp-lens-joy when its opened wide, but the effect can still be pleasing.

I had fun with this. I made the half white and half black background on purpose. I thought it'd give it a bit of depth to it. I like it. *Shrug*
I ended up being stuck deciding between two pictures.
I’ve Been “Tagged”
1.I’m 52 years old. I will be 53 on September 11. No one knew exactly when my birthday was until that day in 2001 when the world changed.
2.I started working when I was 19 years old for what was then “Penelec” and have seen a lot of changes thru the years to where the company is now a part of FirstEnergy Corp. You can do the math as to how long I have been working. I am fortunate to have survived many downsizing and still work in the same building complex as when I started so many years ago.
3.Much of my career I worked with Harry Hunt (he turned me on to Flickr) so we go way back.
4.I live in rural western Pennsylvania near the Quemahoning Dam on the family homestead. I was fortunate to purchase 18 acres so I have a part of my history. Most of my time now is spent taking care of my 82 year old mother who lives with me.
5.I began taking photographs around 30 years ago when I bought my first camera, a Vivitar 2200SL. I still have the camera and use it occasionally. Also have approximately 3 dozen antique and other cameras.
6.Other activities include golfing and hiking (not as much as I’d like to). Gardening and cooking. Love hot peppers and grow them every summer. Also do woodworking. I remember going to the local High School with my dad when he built furniture in their shop. Must be where I picked that up.
7.Used to ride bicycles with a group of friends. We used to go on rides in Lancaster County, PA and other places. I remember the time Harry and the others left me to die on the trail. (Ask Harry about this. He likes telling the stories).
8.I used to take wedding photos but have gotten out of that and just take portraits and photos for me now. I love the digital cameras so now I can enhance them myself.
9.I’ve met some good friends on Flickr and get so many ideas from the photos posted. I need to get to West Virginia soon to take some photos of all the waterfalls I see.
10.Almost forgot, I started to download my album collection to CD. It will take quite some time to complete but it will be worth it.
