This lens is my latest 58 acquisition. I had been seeing how great the 58/1.2 lens looks, but after looking for a MC 58/1.2, I knew I couldn't afford one of those. Then I discovered the MC 58/1.4, Perfect! I really like the 1.4 lenses as I feel they are just a touch sharper wide open, maybe... at least that's what I want to believe.

I really wanted to try a Minolta Rokkor lens and so I started out with the 50mm f1.4 and was a little blown away by how beautifully it renders. Its a stunning lens for sure, so I was hoping the 58/1.4 would be very similar to the 50mm.

To be honest, I like the way the 50/1.4 looks more so than this 58. It's still a good lens, but its not better than the Konica 58 and it doesn't focus as close as the Konica and I like the way that lens looks better.

the Minolta MC is a great handling lens, very easy to use and find the two rings easily without having look at the lens. The rings are large and easy to use. The focus ring is smooth to turn and the aperture ring is solidly clicked and good to turn. I often shoot this lens at f2 because like the Konica 57, shooting this lens at f2 also results in very round bokeh balls.

I guess I just prefer my Konica 57 over this Minolta 58. Not entirely sure why, but I do. Even still, its a beautiful lens and I'm happy I own it!

The Metéora (Greek: Μετέωρα, pronounced [mɛˈtɛoɾɐ], lit. "middle of the sky", "suspended in the air" or "in the heavens above" — etymologically related to meteorology) is one of the largest and most important complexes of Greek Orthodox monasteries in Greece, second only to Mount Athos.[1] The six monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. The nearest town is Kalambaka. The Metéora is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List under criteria[2]I, II, IV, V and VII

The Theopetra caves 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of Meteora had inhabitants fifty millennia ago.[4] The oldest known example of a man-made structure was found within a prehistoric cave in central Greece, according to the Greek culture ministry. The structure is a stone wall that blocked two-thirds of the entrance to the Theopetra cave near Kalambaka on the north edge of the Thessalian plain. It was constructed 23,000 years ago, probably as a barrier to cold winds. “An optical dating test, known as Optically Stimulated Luminescence, was applied on quartz grains nested within the stones. We dated four different samples from the sediment and soil materials, and all provided identical dates,” Nikolaos Zacharias, director of the laboratory of archaeometry at the University of Peloponnese, told Discovery News. According to a statement by the ministry of culture, “the dating matches the coldest period of the most recent ice age, indicating that the cavern’s inhabitants built the stone wall to protect themselves from the cold.” Excavated since 1987, the Theopetra cave is well known to palaeontologists as it was used and inhabited continuously from the Palaeolithic period onwards (50,000 to 5,000 years ago).[5]

In the 9th century, an ascetic group of hermit monks moved up to the ancient pinnacles.

They were the first people to inhabit Metéora. They lived in hollows and fissures in the rock towers, some of which reach 1800 ft (550m) above the plain. This great height, combined with the sheerness of the cliff walls, kept away all but the most determined visitors. Initially the hermits led a life of solitude, meeting only on Sundays and special days to worship and pray in a chapel built at the foot of a rock known as Dhoupiani. As early as the 11th century AD hermit monks were believed to be living among the caves and cutouts in the rocks.[1]

The exact date of the establishment of the monasteries is unknown. By the late 11th and early 12th centuries, a rudimentary monastic state had formed called the Skete of Stagoiand was centered around the still-standing church of Theotokos (mother of God).[1] By the end of the 12th century, an ascetic community had flocked to Metéora.

In 1344, Athanasios Koinovitis from Mount Athos brought a group of followers to Metéora. From 1356 to 1372, he founded the great Meteoron monastery on Broad Rock, which were perfect for the monks; they were safe from political upheaval and had complete control of the entry to the monastery. The only means of reaching it was by climbing a long ladder, which was drawn up whenever the monks felt threatened.

At the end of the 14th century, the Byzantine Empire's 800-year reign over northern Greecewas being increasingly threatened by Turkish raiders who wanted control over the fertile plain of Thessaly. The hermit monks, seeking a retreat from the expanding Turkish occupation, found the inaccessible rock pillars of Meteora to be an ideal refuge. More than 20 monasteries were built, beginning in the 14th century.[1] Six remain today.

In 1517, Nectarios and Theophanes built the monastery of Varlaám, which was reputed to house the finger of St John and the shoulder blade of St Andrew.

Access to the monasteries was originally (and deliberately) difficult, requiring either long ladders lashed together or large nets used to haul up both goods and people. This required quite a leap of faith – the ropes were replaced, so the story goes, only "when the Lord let them break".[6] In the words of UNESCO, "The net in which intrepid pilgrims were hoisted up vertically alongside the 373 metres (1,224 ft) cliff where the Varlaam monastery dominates the valley symbolizes the fragility of a traditional way of life that is threatened with extinction."[7]

In 1921, Queen Marie of Romania visited Meteora, becoming the first woman ever allowed to enter the Great Meteoron monastery.[8] In the 1920s there was an improvement in the arrangements. Steps were cut into the rock, making the complex accessible via a bridge from the nearby plateau. During World War II the site was bombed.[citation needed] Many art treasures were stolen.[citation needed]

Until the 17th century, the primary means of conveying goods and people from these eyries was by means of baskets and ropes.[9]

Six of the monasteries remain today.[7] Of these six, four were inhabited by men, and two by women. Each monastery has fewer than 10 inhabitants. The monasteries are now tourist attractions.

LOCAL NEWS OF THE WEEK

The date of the arrival of the steamer E. H. Gary, with the first cargo of iron ore to the port of Gary, is not yet definitely known, but it will probably be July 17 or 18. The revenue cutter Tuscorora and the Illinois naval reserve ship Dorothea have been secured to take part in the naval demonstration. The Gary Tribune says that before the end of the season of navigation on the lakes it is expected that about 1,000,000 tons of iron ore will be unloaded from the ships into the great ore bins at the mills. The steamer E. H. Gary, to which has been assigned the honor of opening the port, is 500 feet long and carries about 12,000 tons.

The following news item appeared in the July 16, 1908, issue of The Chesterton Tribune:

The date of the arrival of the first boat with a cargo of iron ore to enter the harbor of Gary has been fixed for July 23. The Gary Commercial club has arranged for an elaborate celebration of the event. At a meeting of this club called for the purpose of arranging plans for this celebration, Captain Norton made the following striking statement:

"In the organization of a steel plant there are three important events: The turning of the first spadeful of earth, the arrival of the first cargo or [sic; of] iron ore, and the lighting of the first fire. In the construction of the plant in Gary we have reached the second stage, the arrival of the first cargo of iron ore."

The following news item appeared in the July 23, 1908, issue of The Chesterton Tribune:

FIRST GARY ORE TODAY

BIG CELEBRATION WILL BE HELD AT THE NEW STEEL MANUFACTURING CITY.

Steamer E. H. Gary Will Bring In the First Cargo -- Government Vessels Will Convey the Ore Carrier -- Prominent Speakers.

The three great events in the construction and opening of a steel manufacturing plant are always the breaking of ground, arrival of the first ore, and the lighting of the furnace fires. Today Gary and hundreds of visitors are celebrating the arrival of the first ore for the big steel mills under way of construction at that place. Besides the ore arrival event, the celebration of the formal opening of the Gary harbor will also be observed. The arrival of the first cargo of ore will be the feature of the opening. The big steamer E. H. Gary will bring the first cargo. The steamer will go into South Chicago and there await the arrival of many guests of the occasion from Chicago. When all are aboard the steamer will then set sail for the new harbor of Gary under convoy of the United States warship Wolverine, the Illinois naval reserve ship Dorothea, the revenue cutter Tuscarora and the light house steamer Sumac. The Illinois naval reserve band will furnish music aboard the steamer Gary and luncheon will be furnished on the trip from South Chicago to Gary. The boat will arrive at 1 p. m.

The four convoying ships will form a semi-circle off the harbor and each will fire the national salute of 21 guns as the Gary steams into the harbor to her dock. The steamer will be welcomed by Superintendent Gleason and heads of departments. Addresses will then be made from the steamer bridge by the Hon. John W. Kern, democratic nominee for vice-president; Congressman James R. Mann of Illinois; Congressman E. D. Crumpacker of this district, and H. Coulby, president of the Pittsburgh Steamship company. Responses will be made by a representative of the Indiana Steel company.

At the conclusion of the addresses an exhibition will be given of the vessel unloaders and the great iron ore bridges swinging the ore a hundred feet in the air for a distance of some 600 feet to the furnaces.

Under the direction of guides detailed by Superintendent Gleason an inspection of the mills will then be made with the rendezvous in front of the foundry. Then a procession will form with the Illinois naval reserves and a company of 100 naval reserves at the head. Next will come Superintendent Gleason and the heads of the following departments at the mills. Following them will be the distinguished guests of the day. The members of the Gary Commercial club will follow. The line of march will be south on Broadway. the procession breaking up at the Gary hotel.

At 4 p. m. a reception will be held at the Gary hotel for the distinguished guests. Mr. Kern, Mr. Crumpacker and Mr. Mann will make short addresses at the conclusion of the reception from the balcony of the hotel. Music by the naval reserved band will be interspersed with the speeches.

Howrah Shed, 31 January 1980

After our two days on the Darjeeling line, we took the Darjeeling Mail back to Calcutta. Phil, Grahame and I went to Howrah shed to see steam. In addition to a good number of Indian Railways Standard WP 4-6-2s, Howrah also had older BESA HGS 2-8-0s and SGS 0-6-0s, IRS XC 4-6-2s and a WT 2-8-4T. I even photographed one of IR's comparatively rare EMD export GT16s, IR's Class WDM4.

After our time at the shed, we watched trains for a while next to the main line from Howrah station. An HGS 2-8-0 came by light engine. Freights pulled by a WAG4 electric and WP 4-6-2 were also seen as was a commuter train with a WG 2-8-2. I guess I didn't shoot a lot of the EMUs, which were probably the more common commuter trains, but I did get one going by with the catle wandering down the ROW.

Eventually, we took another train back to Howrah station to board the Coromandel Express for points south.

I am so excited for Round 2. I told myself that I was going to stay away from swaps this year in order to concentrate on other projects, but I just couldn't pass this one up!

My solid choices wouldn't necessarily be what I would normally choose, but I have a special reason for choosing them! I am going to be changing our guest bedroom into a sewing room! How exciting, right?! I am hoping my partner will be able to make something that I can use in my sewing room, and the wall color is going to be a neutral so these solids will match wonderfully especially paired with white or kona bone.

Looking at the pillow covers in picture #6 and #14, I also think those color combinations are perfect! I absolutely love them!

1 OF 2

I had to escort this little guy across the road. He was sunning in the middle, and 2 cars were coming from both directions.

The last of my shots with my EOS 5D mkII and amazing Canon 85mm f1.2... I sent the camera body back today, I will sell my lenses on eBay. I just don't like the noise the mkII produced, it's too digital and too easy to perceive in shadows. I didn't give it a chance really, but had only one day to return it in line with the shops terms and conditions. I was most concerned that it would show the vertical banding in low key studio shots - maybe it doesn't but I haven't the time to read any more forums or to set up more test shots.

I'm kinda sad to have to sell the lenses, the 85mm 1.2 is stunning and cost me an arm and a leg. The 70-200 2.8 is awesome. The Nikon versions aren't as good apparently. That said, I doubt I'll notice the difference in the shots I take. I just don't like digital noise when it looks as unnatural as the mkII produces... it's a matter of taste of course but there simply shouldn't be any noise at ISO100.. I should be able to pull 2 stops and there still shouldn't be any noise, let alone vertical banding.

*sigh*

Assuming they accept the returned camera, I have asked them to send me a Nikon D700 instead. I've also asked them to send me some new Nikon glass too... 70-200mm f2.8 VR, 24-70mm f2.8 and 85mm f1.4

I Still have my D300 and many DX lenses, all gonna be sold on eBay soon. At least I can keep hold of my Nikon strobes and battery grip.

Not great shots but wanted to upload something today ;) This is my Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/2 I think it dates to 1937. My father got it in the 1950's and gave it to me about 30 years ago.

Castillo de Castellet i La Gornal, Alt Penedès (Barcelona)

patmapa.gencat.cat/web/guest/patrimoni/arquitectura?artic...

Day 42

+2

I walked to the burned-down-house's lot today. It burnt a few years ago and you can't even tell where the house was. This place is amazing, I know I'll be going back.

The monasteries are now tourist attractions.

because I felt like playing along. *smile*

1. I had sugar on my berries for breakfast - it felt decadent and childish.

2. I'm addicted to Top Chef - I'm not sure if it's Tom's bald head or Padma's slight distain for everything.

3. I thought my camera was stolen from my car yesterday for two hours and I freaked. Turns out, my brother put it under the back seat to keep it from being stolen.

7. I love the number seven because my birthday has three sevens in it.

8. I miss music from the early days of alt-rock. Today's pop is too poppy, rock is too repetitive, and country has gone pop.

9. My left forefinger was bit by a spider about a month ago and it gave me a weird nail. Is that TMI?

10. I really stretched to find 10 things about me - I'm totally boring.

So the game is to tag your Pullip friends if you want them to know some information about you to the hopes that they will share some information about them too. Since you have been tagged in this photo you have to post your photo and write 25 random things that you wanna to share about yourself. Don't forget to tag me too!

After meeting with Erzsi (stranger #2), I went to the same square where I have found my first stranger a two days before - there are often a lot of people sitting on benches there, so I thought it would be a good place to engage strangers - that are not in a rush to get anywhere :)

Indeed the benches of the square were full of people, but Andrei stood out from start, being in a suit and also younger than most of the other people around. So again, after a short hesitation (yes, still there :P ) I have approached him. Maybe I hit the right opening line, or I have just found a right person, but Andrei was my first stranger I had a more lengthy discussion with.

Andrei is originally from Arges but works in Cluj since four years. He's a financial analyst and also writes a weekly financial column in a local newspaper. We have discussed about the project and he told me, that he would need a photo for a publication of his and that maybe we could just do that one as well, if I have a camera and doing pictures of people anyway. So while I've kept this - more informal - shot for my 100 strangers project, we did a few for his publication as well - he arranged his tie and we've found a less busy background. Later I've emailed him all the pictures (this time I took like 5 altogether :) and thankfully so, as the first try didn't turn out that nice :) )

This picture is #3 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

16 Things about me…most of it is fluff!

1. Today is my birthday.

2. I think I took my first photo when I was in grade 6 with a box camera – a picture of my favourite teacher. My first SLR was a Canon FTb – still have it – loved the match needle ring metering system. I was a photographer for our high school yearbook.

3. I am the oldest of 3 children – all girls. I've been married to Keith for almost 36 years. We have 2 girls and now my girls have girls of their own. (Hard to believe my dad had 5 brothers and only one sister!) Neither of my two sisters has children so our kids got spoiled by their grandparents.

4. I possess common sense – a rare commodity these days it seems.

5. I also have a strong sense of right and wrong.

6. I am a procrastinator. I was asked 2 months ago to write these 16 things about me (just kidding). “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” – I am responsible for a good portion of that construction job! I’ll tell you about it later…

7. It was over two years ago that I promised myself to learn PhotoShop – just installed the program and started my course last week!

8. I’m a dawdler – occasionally I am not on time; no wait, let's say I am often tardy; okay the truth is I’m habitually late!!

9. I wish I could write as eloquently as Chip, Katrin and Monica. I am amazed how they can always say the most wonderful, heart-felt things in their comments. I also wish I had a quick wit like Sandy and Tammy and Lynn.

10. I fell in love with the 1967 Mercury Cougar the year it came out (even though I couldn’t drive yet). I was totally seduced by those sequential rear signal lights and the concealed headlights. The first car I bought myself after college was a used ‘67 Cougar 4-speed with a 289 4bbl. Sold it when I got married and bought a Volvo!! In 1986 my husband bought me a 1968 Cougar XR-7. The sound she makes when she starts up still excites me – pure muscle! She lives in our garage, although she doesn’t get out as much – and only in the summer – needs a few minor fixes to make her good as new.

11. I LOVE the sound and feel when the engines roar as the green flag flies at a NASCAR race (especially when you’re there in person). Ditto with jet engines on take-off.

12. I used to scuba dive but now can’t fit into my wetsuit. I was about to take hang gliding lessons in the late 70s, but found out I was pregnant so I decided not to take the risk. I was on the gym team, the track team and the badminton team in high school. Too short for basketball – I was only 4’-11” entering grade 9! I grew 7 inches taller before graduating. Also learned to ski when I was in high school.

13. Generally I hate housecleaning, but I usually keep the driveway close to spotless (free of ice and snow) all winter. A good snow shovel and an ice breaker/edger were items on my Christmas/birthday lists. Family and friends KNOW BETTER than to come into my driveway with snogs on their vehicles that might drop off and leave a mess. (Snogs are those icy or slushy chunks that build up behind your wheels.) We do not own a snow blower. As far as household chores go, I do windows willingly.

14. I never tire of sunrises or sunsets – each is unique.

15.I have been wearing my glasses a lot lately. Need to get new contacts…bifocal contacts!!

16. I have 2 beautiful granddaughters, Mattie and Payton – you may have seen a few photos of them here on Flickr. I have never taken good “people” pictures but I will now be forced to learn, especially with such gorgeous subjects to practice on!

Get Well Soon card received after my oral surgery on February 2. I'm saving it until I actually AM well. I've mostly recovered from the surgery itself, though I'm still working on regaining full range of motion in my jaw. I can barely open it wide enough to eat a banana. I've had various complications that are annoying and troubling. Healing is turning out to have its ups and downs, rather than being a straight-line upwards. So far, I've had to go back twice to have pieces of surgical mesh removed from my gums (they were sticking halfway out).

Thank you, by the way, to the person who sent the card. :)

I've only been on one X26 before and it was an ugly single decker one, so when I saw this Wright Eclipse Gemini 2, I jumped at the opportunity to take a photo of it.

last night the temperatures dropped and it was a very frosty morning. apparently our house dropped in temp too because the hot coffee created a lot of steam-- can you see the heart? can't believe i captured this-- i do love coffee.

we enjoyed a relaxed sunday with morning pancakes and p.j's-- the kids' last day of vacation.

In anticipation for Boondocks 2, I decided to make some figs, as purist as possible, of the original Boondock Saints.

West German postcard by Kolibri-Verlag G.m.b.H, Minden-Westf, no. 1592. Photo: Divina / Gloria- Film / Bayer. Peter Carsten in 08/15 - Zweiter Teil / 08/15 Part 2 (Paul May, 1955).

Peter Carsten (1928-2012) was a German actor and film producer. He appeared in 90 films between 1953 and 1999.

In the German production Scampolo (Alfred Weidenmann, 1958), Romy Schneider starred as a young, poor orphan who lives on the Italian island of Ischia, with Peter Carsten as the policeman Cesare. Scampolo works as a tourist guide and as a laundress (Elisabeth Flickenschildt). She falls in love with a handsome but poor architect (Paul Hubschmid) who hopes to win a design competition. Scampolo intercedes on his behalf with the minister (Viktor de Kowa) and helps him to make his dream come true. Scampolo (translation: remnant) was loosely based on a play by Dario Niccodemi. It was not the first film adaptation. In 1917, there was already an Italian silent film directed by Giuseppe Sterni with Margot Pellegrinetti as Scampolo. Silent film diva Carmen Boni also played her in a 1928 Italian production directed by Augusto Genina. This version has been recently rediscovered and restored by the Bologna cinematheque. Four years later, Hans Steinhoff made a sound version in Germany starring Dolly Haas, Scampolo, ein Kind der Straße/Scampolo, a Child of the Streets (1932). This time, Scampolo has nowhere to live in Berlin and must sleep rough. Steinhoff also directed a French-language version, Un peu d'amour/A Bit of Love (1932), starring Madeleine Ozeray. In 1941 followed another Italian version, Scampolo (Nunzio Malasomma, 1941), with Lilia Silvi and in 1953, yet another new Italian adaptation, Scampolo 53 (Giorgio Bianchi, 1953), starring Maria Fiori. The 1958 version with Romy Schneider was the last film adaptation till now.

Scampolo was only the second film young idol Romy Schneider made after the hugely popular Sissi trilogy. The cast included well-known actors as Paul Hubschmid, Georg Thomalla, Eva Maria Meineke, Franca Parisi, Elisabeth Flickenschildt, Willy Millowitsch, Walter Rilla, and Viktor de Kowa, but Schneider was the heart of the film. Marcin Kukuczka at IMDb: "Romy Schneider is great! The fact that Scampolo was filmed just after the third part of Sissi is too significant not to be skipped. Romy was considered to fit best in 'royal roles' by a number of people. Partly, thanks to Scampolo, she proved that she was talented at multiple levels." The comedy was shot on Ischia Island in Italy with wonderful cinematography by Bruno Mondi, who had also shot the Sissi films. Mondi had already started in the silent era as a camera assistant for Fritz Lang's Der Müde Tod (1921). During World War II, he worked with director Veit Harlan on the anti-Semitic propaganda film Jud Süß (1940). After the war, Mondi went on working on films without any problems and shot socialist-style re-education films in the Soviet zone like Wozzeck (Georg C. Klaren, 1947) and Rotation (Wolfgang Staudte, 1949). State of Things at IMDb: "Bruno Mondi is a luminous example for a brilliant and inventive cameraman and a frightening example for a perfect technician, not asking for the aim of his work."

Hello, my name is Ian Carine.

I'm 2 1/2 years old and I'm living with a very rare lung disease called Neuroendocrine Hyperplasia of Infancy (NEHI for short). I am currently very stable and hope to stay this way as my body gets stronger day by day battling this disease. From birth to around age 2, I spent 50% to 75% of my life in the hospital (Dayton Children's mostly). I was very sick starting out and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. I continued having blue spells, my oxygen wouldn't stay up, not more than a month would go by without me being sick, I was weak and very cranky along with not being able to take regular fluids down so I went to thicken liquids for awhile. The doctors tested me over and over for CF but it kept coming back negative. My X-rays came up abnormal every time with no explanation for my family, as they sat there watching me suffer wishing they could make it go away.

At that point Dayton Children's was my second home now. It was a different type of life for me growing up in the hospital and not at home. Instead of friends and family coming to see and play with me at home, they went to the 3rd floor to my hospital room and was only aloud when I was strong enough to deal with the excitement. My nurse's and doctor's became my friends. I knew nothing else other than the hospital. I still go back and visit with everyone still knowing who I am. It's a good feeling through knowing I can come visit but can leave when I want to now! As I became stronger my mother was taught how to care for me at home. We had all of this medical equipment dropped off and from there prayed one day it would all be picked up again. I went from taking 20 plus medications a day to only a few now unless I'm sick, then I take a few more. I'm only on oxygen when I get really sick now, compared to all day everyday like before. Me and my brother now are able to run and play and for now I can be a normal kid. There is no cure for this very rare lung disease and only a few people in the entire world have it. With the oldest I know only being around 20 years old.

We have lost precious souls to this disease but also are watching many grow and hope they will overcome this and live well into there elder years. For now I have full time nursing at home and I'm not able to adventure into the preschool world yet due to my immune system being compromised due to my disease and all of the medication's I have taken in the past. One day, I hope soon I will get on that big yellow school bus and be off on my way with the rest of the kids. For now I'm happy to just be living at home full time with my family and yes FRIENDS, such an awesome word! Well I'm of to go play and enjoy this great life I was given. Thank you all for your support and help! God bless.... Ian Carine~~

Stopped shooting when I noticed quite early what was going to happen. In a few seconds (felt a lot longer) there where two people checking on her and she moved her arm

Was some long minutes before she got up and walked out...

James McNeill Whistler American ( 1834-1903)

Detial from: Cremorne Gardens, No.2 , Ca. 1870-80

Cremorne Gardens was a popular London amusement park that offered music, dancing, and spectacular fireworks. Unlike his friends among the French Impressionists, who also portrayed outdoor public entertainments, Whistler sought to create a harmonious world on the canvas, not simply to record the world of appearances. As Cremorne Gardens was associated with the demimonde, the painting may refer to an encounter between four prostitutes and a potential customer. Rather than recounting a legible narrative, however, Whistler merely implied the ephemeral charm of an evening’s gathering in an indistinct setting.

I'm basically a domestic now

BBMF April 19 2009 Batch 2

I was so fed up of being stuck indoors feeling ill, so decided i may as well feel ill in the fresh air, and can think of nothing better than sitting photographing the BBMF's first public appearence of 2009.

Ah, the sweet magical sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine..... best tonic in the world :)

Tagged by:Tu Sabes Blythe (first)Hilary,Virginie,Blythetastic and Nat.

Old pic from this summer.

1-He had my drive licence only at 30 and I had to fake a flu to find time for studying from my job.

2-I'm divorced from 3 years and half.

3-Almost 10 years ago I went two times to Seoul for 10 days to collaborate with a clothing brand there. Was my first overseas flight,I was alone, the only female and the only person under 40 yrs on the flight ( later I have found out that the situation wouldn't changed in the hotel,I passed all the journey having dinner in room cause I was too shy to go by myself to the hotel's restaurant).

4-I eat my finger nails from when I was 6.

5-My Fashion Design School final thesis was on the connections between Pret A Porter and Clubwear. For months I went around in night clubs taking pics and being the only one not under drugs.

6-I'm terribly emotive and cry very very easily, often for happiness or for emotional things I see in the streets.

7-My second name is Beatrice.

8-I have 5 tattoes.

9- I hate my legs and arms skin.

10-My mother calls me Guaia, who is an italian joke between the words "Gaia"and "Guai"(troubles) ^_^.

11-I start to listen only classical Christmas songs on 1st december every year.

12-I loved to do the Pogo at gigs.I have a scar on my lip caused by pogoing while biting my bottom lip.The song which I was dancing was "Freakscene" by Dinosaur Jr,I'll never forget it,obviously.

13-My nose has a little hump caused by wearing glasses from when I was 11.

14-I just can't stand patterns on my clothing except for striped ts.I could live in a striped b/w tee.

15-I'm always doing too many simultaneous things and I always look for new things, adventures, friends, ideas. So sometimes I spent one or two days completely "OFF"in bed, being tired even to take a glass of water in the kitchen.Sometimes I need to cry without any reason apparently, too.I call these days"fuel",now.

16-I love love to dance and I won two cups in the past years for being the best "Mod girl dancer"and the best"Northern Soul dancer"...LOL:Obviously they are both super kitch but I'm SO proud of them. Now I don't have breath enough, but I'll show them to my nephews..haha.

Long day...this is all I have for today. I apologize if my creativity sucks today. I am soooo tired, woke up at least 3 times last night.

This is too much like this shot -----> here

Sorry really tired tonight probably because I had difficulty sleeping last night. So going to bed early - meaning - now. Will have to catch up on comments tomorrow. xx

In the evening Guru Malavika Surukkai took the audience to completely different plane with her energetic and intense performance - shiva, krishna, roothi woman and bala krishna..

Finally Ravi Kiran with his felicity in both vocal and chitra veena enthralled the audience

This old log cabin is out in our woods about 650 feet from our house. I think it’s an old hunting cabin. It has a small doorway, you have to duck to get in at least I do. It’s just a small cabin, only 14 feet by 9 feet. The door is broken off and it’s unfinished. Someday my husband and I hope to finish it; I’m looking forward to that. I have a picture in my mind of how I’d like it to be and can’t wait till it’s a reality. We just want it to be a quiet place; where you can sit with a cup of tea and a good book or just sit and look out the window and watch the horses. I think I may have to put a sign on the door ‘no cell phones allowed’ :)

I think often times we fear silence and solitude especially in the presence of someone else. It’s like we have this need to fill the air between us with words and noise. We live in such a busy, noisy world it’s like silence scares us.

Couple things about me:

1. I’m not so great with silence when I’m with someone else unless it’s my husband or my kids, but I am working on this. It’s funny how slow times seems to go when you’re uncomfortable with silence in the presence of someone else.

2. I tend to talk really fast when I’m nervous.
