L'ancienne carrière de La Troche (parc Eugène Chanlon, rue de Corbeville, en limite des communes d'Orsay, 91400, et de Palaiseau, 91120, Essonne) permet d'observer la superposition des Grès de Fontainebleau sur les Sables du même nom. Plusieurs propositions ont été avancées en ce qui concerne le(s) mécanisme(s) de la cimentation des sables stampiens (Oligocène, 34 à 23 Ma), parmi lesquelles on retiendra les travaux de Henriette Alimen (1936), Claude Klein (1975), Daniel Obert et Charles Pomerol (1985), Médard Thiry (1988 et 1991).

Au-dessus du niveau gréseux plurimétrique, les argiles à meulières ("Meulière de Beauce") et les Sables de Lozère sont le plus souvent masqués par la végétation.
Exploitée pour la production de pavés, mais abandonnée depuis 1937, la carrière de La Troche offre un front de taille de 5 mètres de haut pour 150 mètres de long, propice à l'escalade et à la varappe.

Awful quality shot, taken handheld with (for some reason I now don't recall) the dodgy 2 x telephoto 60mm phone lens attachment, but serves as a memory for me! Ludhiana WDM3A 16127 at Mansa with train 54046, the 14:40 Firozpur Cantt. Jn - Jind Jn Passenger, on Sunday 18th March 2018. A great engine and a good driver providied an entertaining run down the now double track mainline, wired but not at the time fully energised, thankfully.

Despite the older appearance of this boat, it was built just a year or so before this photo was taken, in Sydney, to an old design. The owners, From Newcastle, had brought it up to Forster for a few days of fishing and cruising around Wallis Lake.
Sunday 18th March 2018. As the Kisan Express (train 14520) to Delhi was another WDP4 my plan to do the track via Sirsa and Bhiwani to Rohtak was again scuppered. No matter, free from the shackles of a definitive plan I made it up as I went along; starting with a new WDP3A.
Almost bang on time train 12482, the 05:55 Shri Ganganagar Jn - Delhi Jn InterCity Express, arrives at Bathinda Junction with Tughlakabad WDP3A 15514 up front, the usual link. Another TKD DP3, 15526, sits in the platform waiting for the single line to be cleared - it's working the Howrah - Shri Ganganagar "Udyan Abha Toofan" Express, always a poor time keeper and, fortunately for me, running late by 260 minutes on this occassion. LDH WDM3A 16122 was in the bay platforms.

Bellagio, More details on Wcities.com. Built in 1998, and located on The Strip, Bellagio is the definition of luxury. The guest accommodations are tastefully decorated with European-style art and furnishings. The large bath with Italian marble and soaking tub adds to your comfort. Restaurants at the hotel are numerous and diverse, including The Buffet, Le Cirque and the fabulous Picasso. Olives and Michael Mina. The huge gaming area is reminiscent of Monte Carlo and hosts table games, sports book and slot machines. Botanical Gardens and the choreographed Bellagio Fountains highlight the property. The Gallery of Fine Art is definitely a must-see. Visit the hotel's Spa Bellagio if you want to pamper yourself with some soothing massages and body treatments.
My little evening run out on Tuesday 13th March 2018 was a trip down the Pathankot - Amritsar line involving two Ludhiana WDM3A wrecks, 16662 and 16099. Here the former smokes it up leaving Gurdaspur with train(s) 18102/18310, the 14:20 Jammu Tawi - Sambalpur/Tatanagar "Muri" Express(es).
16662 was a bit odd sounding (although good): hunting (rythmic rise and fall of the engine rpm, usually at idle) a lot for a rebuilt example and violently in the first couple of notches, accompanied with clouds of black smoke. In fact, it was very much like one of the old E-Type controlled engines and not like a microprocessor fitted one - characterful might be an apt description.
16099 sounded quite similar and also smoked like hell in the lower notches, before the turbo got fully spooled up. Although it was comparitively disappointing, however I can't decide if it was the loco or the driver or both who where at fault.

WDM2 #17755 of Ludhiana at Hoshiarpur, the end of the 40 km branch from Jalandhar Cantt. Junction, with train 54638, the 10:25 "Passenger" from Jalandhar City. Thursday 13th October 2011.
Apart from an early morning arrival and evening departure from/to Delhi, this is the only other loco hauled train to ply the branchline, other services being DEMUs.
A nice out and back track covering move.
