‘Scene’ in open top service, MBE 613R

MBE 613R a Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR / Roe, a standard covered top double decker was delivered to ‘Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport’ (GCT) as No. 113 in 1977.
‘Stagecoach’ took over ‘GCT’ in 1993 at which time it became No. 15513.
In 1994 the bus was converted to open top for use in Cleethorpes and re-painted into the then current ‘Stagecoach’ ‘stripes’ livery.
The more recent ‘swoops’ livery was applied in 2003.
2005 saw the bus transferred to Chesterfield as part of the ‘Heritage’ fleet where it remained until purchased for preservation in 2017.

WDP3A 15513, of Tughlakabad shed, at Bathinda Junction on Friday 16th March 2018 with train 12486, the 14:45 Shri Ganganagar Jn - Hazur Sahib Nanded SuperFast Express (Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays only). Shedmate WDP1 15047 is stabled in the bay platforms.
The guy with the two excited young girls seemed to know the loco pilot; a popular man as just after leaving the staion we slowed down for the crew to collect some dinner from a waving family group stood on adjacent tracks - which necessitated a healthy application of power to recover from!
I was hoping for/expecting a lot from this DP3 and it didn't fail to deliver - great chugging and thrash. The pilot was excellent too, actually driving the SuperFast like the supposedly crack express train it was.

Stagecoach's sole surviving Fleetline was pressed into service due to severe traffic delays in Chesterfield on the afternoon of Friday 31st August 2012. As can be seen at least some of the passengers thought it was great!

One of the first rallies ex Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport Leyland Fleetline/Roe 113 (MBE 613R) attended after being categorised as a Class 5 for MOT purposes was the Transport Festival based at the Road Transport Museum at Whisby near Lincoln. Taking place on Easter Sunday, Stagecoach in Chesterfield's 15513 is seen here arriving after a tour to Lincoln City Centre displaying Service 3, imitating RoadCar's InterConnect service linking Lincoln with Grimsby. This was taken 9 months after the bus had been withdrawn from passenger service at Grimsby depot.
