Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport 113, a 1977 Leyland Fleetline Roe, was seen in Whittlesey, at Fenland Bus Fest 2022, whilst operating a feeder service 341 to Ramsey. New to Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport as their 113. This also operated with Stagecoach Yorkshire & Stagecoach East Midlands as their 15513, in Stagecoach Swoops livery.

An old amateur photograph (just 3" x 2") of vehicles parked up at the bus stand that was in the middle of the road by the George Hotel, Crawley. The photo reverse just shows "Crawley" so I assume they are parked up at Crawley Bus Station? LUF237 was new in Apr 1952 and BXD502 was sold in Oct 1954, so I assume the photo was taken between those dates.

The vehicles from right to left are :-

LUF237 was new to Southdown in Apr 1952 carrying fleet No. 737 comprising a Leyland Titan PD2/12 chassis No. 515039 and a Leyland body seating 58 (H32/26RD) showing a '23 - Handcross - Cuckfield - Haywards Heath - Ditchling - Brighton Pool Valley' destination blind. It went into service for Creamline Services in Aug 1967 and in Jan 1968 was scrapped on site after an accident.

BXD502 was new to London Transport in Jul 1935 carrying fleet No. STL1059 comprising an AEC Regent chassis No. 06613649 and a Chiswick Country body (LPTB) No. 15513 seating 48 (H29/19F) showing a '483 - Crawley and Northgate' destination blind. In Oct 1939 it was reseated to seat 52 (H29/23F), and in Apr 1948 its body was scrapped, being rebodied with a roofbox body No. 16962 seating 56 (H30/26R). In Oct 1954 it was sold to Lancashire Motor Traders of Salford and in Sep 1957 sold to Elm Works of London where it was used as a pantechnicon. By Mar 1964 it had been sold to Wardle of London where it was used as a racing car transporter, I have no details for it after that.

HLX458 was new to London Transport in Jul 1948 carrying fleet No. T788 comprising an AEC Regal III 9621E chassis No. 173 and a Mann Egerton Country Bus body No. 1920 seating 31 (B31F) showing a '473 - Horsham - Crawley - Rowfan - East Grinstead' destination blind. It was withdrawn from service and put into store at Grays in May 1959 then in the August sold and exported to the Ceylon Transport Board.

GOU887 was new to *F. H. Kilner (Transport) Ltd. in Mar 1949 comprising a Bedford OB chassis No. 100071 and Duple body No. 46428 seating 30 (B30F) showing a 33 - Crawley - Three Bridges' destination blind. It was withdrawn from service in 1954, its owners after that were:-

Feb 1955 - unidentified,

Jul 1956 - Castle of Clay Cross,

J. M. D. Morton of Paisley, used as a mobile shop that was last in use May 1964.

* Kilner were taken over by Hants & Sussex MS in 1945, the new company was called F H Kilner (Transport) Ltd and was responsible for bus service activities around the Horsham area. The vehicle livery of Hants and Sussex was maroon, red and cream and in spite of being owned and licensed to Fred Kilner, or Sunbeam Coaches, the vehicles carried the Hants and Sussex livery and fleet names.

Any photograph, ephemera, etc I post on Flickr is in my possession, nothing is copied from another location. The original photographer may have taken copies from their original negative and passed them out (sold them?) so there may be other copies out there of your (and my) 'original' transport photo, although occasionally there may be 'holiday snaps' type photos where there are not any other photos exactly the same in existence.

Showbus 2018: Restored to Grimsby-Cleethorpes livery is open-top Leyland Fleetline / Roe 113 (MBE 613R), which eventually became 15513 in the Stagecoach national numbering series.

Looking completely different since the last time I caught up with it in Mansfield under Stagecoach ownership, this Fleetline has gone back into Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport livery, where the bus started life closed top back in 1978.

These three Stagecoach double-deckers are seen here on display at the now ceased Trans-Lancs Rally, Heaton Park, Manchester, on 04/09/2005. This popular event was last held in 2019. This was due to COVID-19 and the now ever expanding summer fairground. Furthest from the camera is Stagecoach Manchester 10840, MX53FME, a TransBus President bodied TransBus Trident SFD33. It was new to Stagecoach Manchester in 09/2003. In the centre of the trio is 17699, MW52UJF, an East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Trident SFD448. New to Dennis's(Cooper)(DT5), Dukinfield, in 02/2003, it was acquired by Stagecoach Manchester on the acquisition of Dennis's a little earlier in 2003. Nearest the camera is Stagecoach Grimsby-Cleethorpes 15513 MBE613R, an open-top converted Roe bodied Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR. It was new to the erstwhile Grimsby-Cleethorpes Corporation Transport(113), in 01/1977, and would later work for Stagecoach East Midland out of their Chesterfield depot and then Stagecoach Yorkshire Traction. It has since been preserved.

The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a Jessops Colourslide.

Daimler Fleetline 15513 (MBE613R) is seen at the Chatsworth Vintage Vehicle gathering 2007. It is still owned by Stagecoach as a heritage vehicle, and is based in Chesterfield.

Stagecoach in Chesterfield 15513 MBE 613R at Showbus, Donington Park. Sunday 25th September 2016. DSCN39119.

A 1976 built Leyland Fleetline-Roe.

WDP3A 15513 of Tughlakabad on a cold and misty Tuesday 5th March 2019 morning at Tapa. The beast was in charge of train 14712, the Shri Ganganagar Jn - Haridwar InterCity Express and put in a typically vocal performance, although with a lot of adhesion issues on the damp rail!

Retained by Stagecoach for special events, 15513 is a Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR with Roe dual-door open-top bodywork. It was new as a conventional closed-top bus as Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport 113 in 1977. It is seen in Chesterfield whilst in the hands of Stagecoach Yorkshire.

A callenging day with a cloudless sky bringing deep shadow. Day 1 of Statfold's 'Summer Spectacle of Steam'. The visitor Fowler 15513 and Penrhyn quarry locos Cregin and Marchlyn await their tour of duty.

Surely one of the only Leyland Fleetlines remaining in service with a major operator is Roe bodied MBE613R. This bus was new to Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport in January 1977 as fleet number 113. It was later converted to open top, something which has no doubt contributed to its longevity. Grimsby Cleethorpes were taken over by Stagecoach some time ago now, and the bus remains in their ownership, now numbered 15513. Now 37 years old, the bus is seen parked on Sea Lane in Cleethorpes, taking a break from operating service 17 on Sunday 13th July 2014. I'm not sure if the driver is being lazy or the bus hasn't actually got the required final destination on the roller blind?
