we stayed alive despite our bushwacking biking skills. regarding staying on the path and braking when necessary, kathryn was by far the worst, the littles got fired immediately, emma was surprisingly calm and collected, but made us nervous at each turn or when a biker was near and aj was clearly tops. now, on to california adventure....

Clean lines, cool whites, and a whisper of another world reflected in the glass. This photograph of a door in Belgium appears to be a straightforward subject, but look closer—behind the simplicity there's a world to discover.

Photographic Stories on Urban Form

I’ve always been drawn to the shapes and patterns of cities—how a curve meets a corner, how old stone sits quietly beside something new and bold. These photos are moments I noticed while walking, pausing, and looking just a little longer than usual.

Some scenes are simple: a doorway, a reflection, a patch of colour. Others feel like two buildings having a conversation across time. What they all have in common is that they stopped me in my tracks, made me want to frame them and share the feeling.

This series isn’t about architecture in a technical sense—it’s about the everyday poetry of urban spaces. It’s about noticing. And maybe, if I’ve done it right, it invites you to notice a little more too.

My human's been travelling a lot, but he promised to take me and the camera to the park this weekend. Better get some rest.

7 Songs in 7 Days: The songs I currently can't live without

Song 1: The News From Your Bed - Bishop Allen

This song is fabulous because it manages to be both upbeat and depressing in the same breath.

You were saving the date

But you woke up too late

Pulled the covers down over your head

You haven’t left your front door

For a week maybe more

Tell me, hey, what’s the news from your bed

You know your face is all covered with your birthday cake

That you’re eating in the kitchen at home

Another banner year, a splendid day

Another inch or two that you’ve grown

But it’s hard to celebrate on your own

There’s a mouse in cupboard that nibbles your crumbs

And you talk to him every night

You say, “Hey, Mr. Whiskers, I’m bored and I’m numb

You can stay if you just treat me right.”

Just last year you were fortunate baby

And your friends circled around you in droves

Are they thinking of you? Maybe just maybe

But not a one has bothered to phone

Tell me where oh where did they go

Called a car about an hour ago

You’re gonna take yourself out

Despite the cold and snow

Did they forget about you

Are they in on it too?

You’re sitting looking in the mirror

At your dancing shoes

When your family calls you make nice to them all

And assure them you’re fine and you’re great

Then you cry in the bath, cry so hard that you laugh

Then you watch television til late

Who do you need? Nobody.

You’re lucky nobody’s around

I can pour my own drinks

No thanks, Mister. Go on, and get out of town

And you’re gorgeous in your evening gown.

Cottage View Drive-In. This may be the last year for this drive-in. The owner barely makes enough revenue to cover the taxes. He also cannot justify spending $75,000 on new digital equipment. Unfortunately the business that is in discussions for taking over the property is Wal-Mart. Couldn't it have been anything else but Wal-Mart.

The gloomy day, clouds and movie showing seemed appropriate for this future of this theater.

View from both sides of the sign. Couldn't decide which I liked best.
