Wong Kei, More details on Wcities.com. Wong Kei is renowned for its Formica-fast-food-joint approach to dining. The food is cheap and arrives swiftly, if a little churlishly. Strangely, the legend of the rude and abrupt waiting staff is all part of the appeal, and the fact that its pink walls are often packed and jostling is a testament to its ongoing popularity. In fact, it's an institution in Chinatown for students and budget diners, and if you're fed up with pleasant, obsequious service then Wong Kei's is remedy enough. You can't really go wrong at this dining joint as dishes are certainly hale and hearty, if a little heavy. You won't leave hungry, that's for sure. The menu is pretty comprehensive, from basic rice and noodle dishes that redefine bargain bites, to more specialist delicacies, that when translated as 'fried intestines' sometimes lose a little of their appeal.
