This picture was taken at the Greenlake Park and satisfies requirement 1. I used a fast shutter speed of 1/1250s which was sufficient to freeze the action. This enables me to capture her happiness during the swing. I took the picture in a sunny afternoon so I used low ISO at 100. The image was post-processed in Lightroom to increase contrast and vibrance.

Parsons Challenge 1.

I work in a small clothing boutique - it is my first job in retail. I realized that working there has changed the way that I see people. At work I have stopped looking at people’s faces, reading them instead through their clothing. By looking at a person’s outfit I unintentionally assess their mood, on that day, in that outfit. My response to the challenge is to leave the clothing blank and to see the face. But changing my focus in this way doesn’t change the way I see things. The medium of embroidery ironically references my usual focus.

My first time to P.S. 1. I was super surprised at how big it was. The amount of work inside. And most especially, the beautiful space. Arched entry ways, etc etc. Great space to display work.

They even had art in the boiler room. Really cool. And really spooky.

Requirement 1

I took this photograph in my backyard of my younger sister jumping into the air. In order to freeze her in mid air with minimal motion blur I need to use an extremely fast shutter speed to capture her in mid air. Due to the fact that I was using an incredibly fast shutter speed I need to have a wider aperture in order to capture enough light in the picture. I also used a a small focal length in order to capture her entire image to portray her jumping off the ground as well as capturing more of the scene to give a sense of the surroundings.

1) I used a landscape with horizon, I used a vantage point laying down, I used an average ISO, and I also made it an unbalanced picture.

2) Post picture I used lightroom and added a preset that I have, which cools turn the green tones in the grass and adds more of a white balance, I also increased the detail.

3) I chose this picture because sunsets are one of my favorite things, I love golden hour and the day I took that picture was a really good day.
