For my Styled Chic No. 1, I took this totally hip and modern room shot from Crate & Barrel. This hip and modern design is inspired by color and sophistication. This wedding suite contains an Invitation, belly band and RSVP card. I love working with different color palettes. I took the cream, black and purple tones as my palette. There are so many combination’s that can come from from this including the silver from the wall, but I wanted something a little different. I also took the pattern from the pillow and incorporated it on the belly band. Perfect!

I created a custom monogram to layer on the belly band to really give some punch and brand the couple. I used an ivory cream linen card stock to add some richness and flat printed them. These could just as well be letterpressed! I would pair these with gorgeous ivory cream envelopes and a custom rubber stamp. *wink

▶"Iris versicolor is also commonly known as the blue flag, harlequin blueflag, larger blue flag, northern blue flag, and poison flag. It is a species of iris native to the Eastern United States and Eastern Canada. It is common in sedge meadows, marshes, and along streambanks and shores. Iris versicolor is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant, growing 10–80 cm (4–31 in) high. Flowers are usually light to deep blue (purple and violet are not uncommon) and bloom during May to July, with 6 petals."

Photographer's notes.

1) I may not have pulled exact focus but the iris was too 'delicious' to not post the pic.

2) I returned a few days later to re-shoot. By then, the irises had begun to lose their luster but still were resplendent in their wabi-sabi. See those: here.

On a bitterly cold Saturday evening, the second annual Conrail Shared Assets Santa Train is seen stopped just east of S Clinton Ave after a tango with a minivan. The light-covered train struck the vehicle while shoving towards Port Reading, prompting for a brief investigation before the train could proceed. Luckily there were no injuries, and the train continued their tour of North Jersey behind schedule.

This years train featured an interesting addition, NJ Transit GP40PH-2B 4208 (which was recently repainted into Conrail colors), as well as a Comet V trailer. It was strange to see two engines that, until tonight, had zero business being on a train together.

I take a family portrait every year for Christmas and this image was captured in November 2021 at our place in Northeast, KS. I shot this using my Minolta Autocord on FPPs BWXX film, developed with Xtol at 1:1. I used a Kopil mechanical trigger release to trigger the shutter for this shot. I was very pleased with how this turned out.

Almost two months ago Jerry tagged me for the 9 things plague.

1. I hate opening up the Pillsbury canisters of biscuits and dessert rolls. I can't stand how they pop!

2. When I was twelve I developed my first celebrity crush -- on Bill Pullman. *dies from the embarrassment of admitting that*

3. I resent how attention-hogging games like FF and WoW are, even though I know I should resent the people, and not the game.

4. I was considered obese when I was eleven, but that didn't stop me from winning second place in a mile bike race that summer. (And I did it again the summer after!)

5. My maiden last name is a horrible Polish one.

6. I have never been on an airplane.

7. Sometimes I miss Pittsburgh so bad that I cry.

8. I cry when I'm stressed or angry.

9. My contacts are monthly disposables, but I usually wear them for an extra 2-3 days.

Oooooo, aaaaaaahhhh :-)

Type "L" to see the image on black (highly recommended).

I've been struggling all year to bring things up into a new level with my star photography. It's been difficult to do that because 1, I'm not quite sure who/what/where/when I want to go to this "new level" and 2, I've been trying to put attention and effort in so many other areas, I haven't been out relentlessly shooting and experimenting as I want to be.

But, I feel like this one is stepping out into that new area I'm trying to find. Still not sure what it is- but I feel like with this image, I'm closer than I was before.

That's exciting to me :-)

Once I become stagnant, I'm done. Experimentation is my fuel.

What do you think?

This was taken earlier in the month, an hour after leaving a "Star Party" up on Mt Hood. It was fun! Telescopes, binoculars- all kinds of stuff set up to share and learn from. Around midnight, we were ready to move on, so following Gary Randall, we all headed down here to Trillium Lake. This place is beautiful. And, Gary is the master of Trillium Lake/Mt Hood shots!

Sunset taken Sept 1, I pushed it through the HDR process and the title "blammo" just came out.

O.k.... this is a little humiliating, but it has to be done. I'm actually pretty excited about how my P90X adventure has been progressing.

On day 1, I could barely get through the first workout. I wanted to quit 20 minutes in, looking at my wife and my P90X partner with a look of total terror in my eyes. I think they read, "What the hell was I thinking when I bought this program?", though those words never came out of my mouth.

Never the less, we continued and completed the first Phase. And, I have to tell you, I'm impressed with these workouts. I feel great, and I can definitely see some change in both me and my wife. It's funny, my face still looks like a 34 year old's face, white hair and all, but my body is quickly transforming into something I used to sport when I was 20. I'm loving it!

Fun Edit #1: I'll bet that you never knew the inside of an earthworm's gut could be so interesting!

week 1/52 - letter A

photo 1.1

i've managed to put my stuff together before i expected, so here it comes my new plan.

it is a project within a project: i'll try to run a 52 weeks project inside the 365 one. AND, it will also be an A-Z project, as every week i'll choose a theme that starts with a different letter. i'll make two pictures for every theme, one in b/w and one on a white background (my favorite, as you might have noticed).

i've realized that being engaged in many different projects boost my creativity, so i run as many as i can.

by the way, sorry for keeping repeating the word "project", but i couldn't find any decent synonymous.

1. I want my UPGRADE, not a goofy phone. I have a goofy Samsung phone that I like.

An old shot here.

Mostly updated for the purpose of fulfilling my tagged duties.

So 10 things you may not have known about me:

1) I think I am officially addicted to the $1 vanilla soft serve cones from McDonald's.

2) Whenever I discover a blog I really like, I usually read through or flip through the entire thing to see how the blogger's style has evolved. This gets pretty obsessive and time-consuming.

3) I am VERY near sighted - hoping that laser surgery will be cheaper and nearly perfected in the next 10 years or so. I currently own 3 pairs of glasses and still wear contacts...haha.

4) I think my current dream job is to be a photo editor of some kind of home/interior decorating magazine, because even more than I like taking pictures, I love discovering/looking through others' works and picking out what would look nice together. And of course still take pics on the side!

5) I have over a dozen moles/beauty marks on my face. I would love to get rid of some of them.

6) It makes me feel slightly superior to take longer subway rides than the people around me (totally irrational because they could be transferring but nonetheless...)

7) I have had sushi every Monday for the past month.

8) I think sushi would be a deal-breaker food for me, romantic-relationship wise :P (that and spicy food).

9) I could probably win an award for being bad at saving money.

10) I'm leaving for school for my FINAL year in exactly 2 weeks - AAH. One of my biggest concerns about the real world is not having health insurance once I turn 23 and am no longer in school or on my parents' insurance. Ridiculous right?! :P

“An odd-looking waggon laden with odd-looking packages rolled into Hobbiton one evening and toiled up the Hill to Bag End.”

Sorry for reusing Gandalf’s cart. You probably know it from the teaser vignette that I posted about a year ago. The reasons for my unacceptable behaviour are as follows:

1. I’m lazy.

2. It bugged me that the cart’s back wasn’t visible in the teaser, just like most of the wickerwork (for which I used all my brown hands).

3. At least I designed a new base, especially with a path that looks more fitting than the strange and boring cobblestone road I created for the teaser.

4. The string that I used as reins was incredible expensive and needed to be shown again, so I can brag about the cool parts that I own.

I hope you can forgive me. Oh and since we’re at it – this isn’t even a scene from the book, only from the movie. Shame on me. But to be honest, our little LotR group decided early on that each of us can build both, scenes from the books and the movies.

Part 1:

The front line had been quiet all morning. Our stiff resistance during the fierce fight the night before had forced the Amis to pull back sometime during the very early morning. We reorganized, rearmed, resupplied, and fixed ourselves into our defenses. This position was of value to command and we were ordered to hold it by all means possible.

At around 0940 the silence was broken by the recognizable rumble of American armor. The Amis must have regrouped in the morning and received reinforcements. We all scurried to our positions and crouched down, awaiting the attack. As the rumbles got louder our anti-tank units prepped their guns and got ready to fire at whatever toys the Americans had brought to play with.

In fair warning, this is my full-sized avi with a Maitreya body, and the lovely Ademe Warrior outfit from Roped Passions is Maitreya fitmesh: it's just the lovely scenery at Fantasy Faire 2019 that makes makes me teeny.

The Ethereal wings from Lunaria are unscripted, but have a gentle flexi-like motion as you move. They're not flight wings, but they're great for wearing in high-lag areas... or anytime you just want to look wonderful.

I left off jewelry with this outfit, but augmented instead with the beautiful Hope tattoo from Stardust, exclusive for the Fantasy Faire: when the Faire is over, this lovely adornment will be gone!

There are so many wonderful things at Fantasy Faire, and every one helps contribute to the fight against cancer. With 16 sims, you can always get in somewhere and have a look around. Fantasy Faire 2019 is only here until May 5, and there is SO MUCH to see.

I took delivery of my new Nikon D500, and here is a series of images taken in my yard on day 1. I love the snappy auto-focus. high ISO performance is really impressive for a crop sensor camera. My other camera is a D4s, so it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to ISO. The dynamic range is slightly less that the D4s, so I'll need to watch my exposures more closely. Bottom line: this is a killer bird photography camera.

In medieval times, salt was a necessity for preserving foods. Its importance was so great, it was often used as currency and traded for gold[1]. It was a chief export of western Africa[2] where salt deposits could be easily found and mined. Once mined, it was carried across the Sahara by camel caravan.

An autumn hike with my 12 yr. old granddaughter at Spring Creek Forest Preserve in northern Dallas County. There were some trees with yellow leaves and very few with any reds.

I veered off the main path to inspect a partially red leaf cluster when my granddaughter said "what's that?" I had no idea what she was talking about. She pointed out this orange log laying on the forest floor and wanted to know what the orange is. Honestly I have no idea. I've never seen it before. This log was a fairly bright orange all over and had great texture. I spend several minutes shooting this log that I had not even seen. The reddish leaves I had sought were a "non-event," especially compared to this log. It took my granddaughter to find this jewel.

Explore Nov. 11, 2013 - #1. I am totally awed that this moved into first place. Thank you so much for your comments and favorites. On Nov. 12 it looks like it has moved to Place #18. In any case I'm totally awed and grateful to all of you.

Lots of things came together for this photograph.

1. I finally figured out manual mode. Took a while.

2. The sapsucker finally came down the tree enough for a good shot, and after 3 days of attempts, the light was good enough for some detail.

3. MOST IMPORTANT: I own my new lens! It is finally mine. I can do with it whatever I want. It's a great feeling.

Hope you enjoy my new photos, as the quality should be vastly improved.

Thanks for stopping by.

Two important conclusions from my recent ruminations:

1. I don't take enough happy pictures.

2. I need to start shooting self-portraits again.

I also have a huge roll of film that will be developed some time in the coming week. (:
