Week 21

Well, this week went completely different than planned. The 26th we celebrated Christmas with the family, which was great and according to plan. Then monday Erik and me went to Groningen with my parents, doing some shopping. That was all fine untill dinner. I didn't feel that good, but I thought I just needed to eat. Well, I was wrong, because an hour later everything came out again. And my body wouldn't stop letting everyting out untill the next day. That was really the worst night ever! We had planned to go out and see some cities, but I ended up on the couch on tuesday. Wednesday I wasn't all better, but I really wanted to buy a good helmet of my own for driving the motorcycle. So we went out and I bought a great helmet. But when I got home, I found the couch again. In the evening it went better and I even got to eat some of a normal evening meal. And with a good night of sleeping I took another lesson for riding the bike this morning (was already planned a week before) I would just try. And it went fine.. But with -6 degrees Celsius it's really cold!! Three pairs of socks didn't stop my toes from dying.. Then again, it went much better than last time! :)

Now I'm going to try and find out how many I have to study for my upcoming exams. Make a plan or something..

For FGR I'll sum up 13 things for the coming year.

1. I'm going to continue and finish my 52 weeks project.

2. I'm going to get my licence for riding on the motorcycle.

3. I'll buy a motorcycle! (If I find the money for it)

4. I definitely want to go on holiday in the summer by motorcycle.

5. I'm going to finish this school year with passing all my exams!

6. I want to make more time for spending with friends.

7. I keep on dancing!

8. I will not get as sick as a have been this week (not just this coming year, never again if it's up to me to decide!)

9. I'm going to skate on natural ice again.

10. I will plan a 'get together' or 'get away' with my best friend. Just her and me.

11. I want to see more of my family and in special my little nieces, they are growing so fast! I don't want to miss anything.

12. I don't have to say that I'll be doing lot's of crazy fun things with Erik, because it's very unthinkable that we won't.

13. I want to get fitter and maybe not snack that much, but I know I love food so maybe it's good to say that I'm just going to enjoy life as it comes!

For you all, I'm already toasting to the new year, because I won't be back before that! I hope you'll have a great New Years Eve!!

1) I don't actually play paintball but I love my bronze paintball marker that my friend gave me in a trade.

2) I LOVE cheese pizza

3) I had builders block or whatever you call it a week ago then Justin gave me the idea for a tank. I'm standing on the tank.

4) I'm 14

5) Tea is way better than coffee

6) I actually really like Nintendo games

7) my backdrop is three sheets of paper

8) I'm jewish but me and my family have atheist beliefs.

9) I support the tolerance of all people and am ashamed society outcasts gays, kinds of religion and people of dark skin

10) My favorite number is negative zero

252/365

my niece is almost 3 months old. more in the comments.

oh, and this lovely lady tagged me. 10 things about me. simple enough.

1. I have hair on my knuckles that I can only see when I'm at my laptop in a dark room, like when I typed this and I noticed it and though "ew, gross..." but then realized that if I can only see it when I'm at my laptop in a dark room, it can't be that bad.

2. music is a pretty big part of my life, although not nearly as big as it was before I discovered and fell in love with photography. I lead worship at my church either from piano or guitar and have been doing so for years.

3. I have an incredible love for my family. we are closer than your average family [in my opinion]. I hang out with them more than I hang out with other friends.

4. I never realized just how much my mom's neat-freak characteristic rubbed off on me until i moved into an apartment with a friend of mine. not saying she's a slob, she's probably pretty average as far as dirt and clutter goes. I'm just... above average?

5. if I could go anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat, I would go to greece. I think... I actually want to go everywhere, and would go anywhere short of the north pole.

6. I'm totally running out of ideas. I'm really tired... I sleep on a folded-down futon that is actually more comfortable than it sounds, because most futons have a bad rap, but I made mine comfy. Except I'm buying a new bed in a month, which is a first for me.

7. I think that rally racing would be a blast.

8. If you asked me to go sledding with you, I would probably say yes. Unless you are a creeper, and then I would punch you in the face and run away or something.

9. I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of boots for months (taking into account not only style, but affordability). oh prince george, why must you disappoint?

10. egg.

Ginnel in St Annes Square, Manchester, uk. Same ginnel slightly different viewpoint to XPRO2524-1.

I quite like the white glazed bricks.

A rather poor slide scan of 47003 (with the 3 made to look like an 8) in Booths scrapyard at Rotherham, the writing is all jokes from Tinsley depot, 1 I can remember was "another quality overhaul by Tinsley apprentices", some were, ahem, best not repeated.

(Feb. 18, 2009: It's not at all surprising to me that the most viewed picture on my photostream isn't one that I took, but instead one by some unknown photographer of a hundred years ago. For as long as I can remember, I've known that this was a compelling image.)

Me, me, me!

I've been tagged! This photo restoration is as good an occasion as any for my listing 16 things about me. I'm given to understand that I could probably get away with "9 for '09" but my friend yourwillingskin (AKA Northstar) wanted 16, so here goes:

1. I am the only son of an only son of an only son. In connection with this, the man in the centre of the picture is Joseph Reid, a schooner captain and my great grandfather. The little boy tucked into his arm is Eldred Reid, my grandfather.

2. I lived in the house in the picture for two years in the early 70s, when I was around four or five years old. I also spent many months and weeks during the summers of my childhood with my grandparents in Heart's Delight. Much time was spent catching frogs and crabs, as well as drawing comic books in scrap books. In my memories and imagination, the town of Heart's Delight will always have an association with sunshine and an easy state of being.

3. Although I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, I have no firsthand idea of how non-creative people can put up with their own company.

4. I don't count myself as having produced anything of any real merit for more than six years, since I moved out of a place I was renting as a painting studio on my 34th birthday. Subsequently, I sometimes have trouble putting up with my own company.

5. I sing. Nothing all the way through, of course. Just bits and pieces of songs. I got in quite a bit of practice while I was alone in my painting studio. Some people are gracious enough to tell me that I'm half-decent.

6. Or maybe it's impressions of singers that I do. Anything from the plaintive rant of Roger Waters of Pink Floyd to the plaintive swoon of Fran Healy of Travis. Sometimes I even do Elvis Presley.

7. For 15 years of my life I wanted to be a comic book artist. I was a teenager at just the right time to see Frank Miller and Alan Moore start to do their stuff. Although I got bored of comics when I was 17, the ambition continued until I was 22, when I decided I wanted to paint instead.

8. Watchmen, which was first published during my first year of university, was the last comic that I bought regularly. Alan Moore really had the golden touch.

9. My childhood was ruled by a boundlessly expansive imagination. The things that caught my attention -- comic books, chapter books, drawing, and later pop music -- seemed more wonderful than I will ever be able to express. Pretty girls should be listed there too. Pretty girls really had me in a bad way.

10. Off the top of my head, my favorite movies this past year were Superbad and... wait a bit, I'll get back to you.

11. Off the top of my head, my favourite music this past year was Bon Iver. (I enjoy mimicing Justin Vernon's falsetto, too.)

12. Way out ahead of the pack, my favourite author is Kurt Vonnegut. He offers me complicency, I guess, just as any friend would. I've also been deeply moved by the writings John Steinbeck. Saroyan has brought me to tears, but that was years ago. The best I read this past year was Cormac McCarthy.

13. Fortunately for me, I can't play first-person shooters. They all give me a terrible headache. Unfortunately for me, if I actually can see an avatar on the screen, then I can play computer games without getting a headache for quite a while. But I don't bother with them very much.

14. I work as a graphic designer at a small town printer's. I've known since the mid-90s that I found graphic design to be truly soul-sucking work. Maybe if my life hadn't had certain difficulties, I would have been able to work my way into an interesting graphic designer postion, like, say, art director for an interesting magazine.

15. When I wasn't painting or graphic designing during the past decade, I was driving ambulances, pumping gas, or working as a clerk. Like I say, if my life hadn't had certain difficulties...

16. If you've reached Number 16, then you're probably a friend of mine.

My final assignment for week 1. I envisioned a vintage-y tea-towel, and maybe a series of my painted mushrooms—or maybe each one a different veggie that grows in the ground. Onion, pumpkin, corn, squash. . .

Here is my own critique after hearing Lilla's review for week one:

Perhaps the background is too 'repeat-y" Might be nice for there to be more icons and vary the layout more (instead of in columns/) I meant to leave off the pattern in the oval—I still think I should remove it. the loops—too simple? not related enough? The coordinate one the left might should be a main pattern— not a coordinate. Too complicated. Further develop a pattern using all of my painted mushrooms in a group. Might work nicely along with the dish-towel idea.

Things you didn't know about me:

#1 - I'm married

You might have already known that :)

but, did you know I'm married to my best friend.

beura-cardezza (VB) - mercoledi 28 agosto 2019, h 08.10

My mom took this pic back in November near the Blue Mountains. It's me and my hubby.

I've been tagged from Irene. So here are 16 things about me.

1-I'm a Canadian residing in Autralia. Been here over 6 yrs now and love it but still miss home.

2-I met my wonderful husband through the internet over 7 yrs ago. Been married 6yrs and everyday is a blessing with him. He's my soulmate and I love him dearly.

3-I work in healthcare. I'm an Enrolled Nurse here in Sydney area. I work in the hospital on a rehab ward from geriatrics. Learning everyday and still enjoy it. Like any job you have good and bad days. I also work nights but at least have my weekends with my hubby.

4-My favourite time of year is Autumn. I love the different colours that surround us.

5- My favourite holiday is Thanksgiving. I always loved this holiday and the get togethers with family, Miss those. It's not recognized here.

6-I really enjoy cooking or baking. It's a time where I forget about stresses and it calms me. I sometimes bake and bring in the goodies to work or my husband takes them to his work.

7-I love taking pictures. It's my hobby. I first started in my late teens with pics of friends or places we went too. Now I really enjoy getting shots of nature and animals. I want to build my collection of lenses and learn more about taking a good picture. I bought a book to learn about what lense would suit me and to learn the jargon talk of photography.

8-My dream holiday place is Greece. Since I can remember I always wanted to go there. It looks magical to me. One day we shall see it.

9-I have an addiction to collection cookbooks and kitchen gadgets. I had to store some of my books away. My husband laughs at me when we pass a store that sells kitchen items. He knows if I go in I come out with something that I may never use. lol

10-I enjoy reading, My favourite type of books are horror and fantasy. I like vampire, witch and werewolve books. I enjoy reading books from Kelley Armstrong, Laurell K Hamilton, Kim Harrison and now Stephenie Meyer.

11-I'm addicted to playing games on pogo.com

12-I enjoy seeing a good horror or suspence thriller. A fav of mine is Silence of the Lambs. We don't go to the movies too often as it costs too much in my opinion. It costs $16.50 each to see a movie. So we go for certain ones that should be seen on the big screen.

13-I love animals. Birds especially. They have character. Freddy our Green cheek conure has brought alot of laughter and joy into our lives. He's our baby.

14-I love going to the zoo or reserve parks. It's fascinating seeing different animals and how they communicate with each other. Feather Wildlife Park is one of my favourites to go to for their variety of birds.

15-I love licorice. Miss Twizzlers from home but have found a store called Darrell Lea that sells a variety of different flavoured licorice as well as chocolate and candies. They have Black licorice, Strawberry, Blackcurrant, Apple and Mango. YUMMY!

I might as well add this as part of my project. Lol. xD. But I might do a photo today too. I dunno. I procrastinate a lot.

Sorry about my awkwardness in the beginning! ....And throughout the video. I was bored and people on my Youtube channel kept asking me to do this damn cinnamon challenge so I did.

And no, I do not talk like that. I'm just quirky, lol.

People are probably thinking I'm some kind of weirdo or something after seeing this but I'm actually nice and decent. I promise I don't bite til you tell me to.

Erin, I'll make THAT video soooooon! :1.

Bishop Olmsted ordains diocese’s newest priest

By Ambria Hammel | June 2, 2012 | The Catholic Sun

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted ordained Dan Vanyo to the priesthood June 2 at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral.

He joins 254 diocesan and religious priests who serve the Phoenix Diocese by offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, conferring the sacraments and overseeing aspects of parish life. Many of them were on hand to offer congratulations to their newest brother.

That included a handful of local priests and some from St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver who played key roles in Fr. Vanyo’s discernment. Fr. Vanyo, 43, began discerning his call to the priesthood at age 32 when a friend through a local Catholic singles group was discerning religious life.

“I never discerned anything,” Fr. Vanyo said. He researched some religious orders, but it wasn’t until a day for prospective diocesan seminarians that he reached a peaceful conclusion.

“They need help here,” Fr. Vanyo, then a hospice nurse, recalled thinking. “That’s when I gave the Lord my fiat. If you open the door, I’ll walk through it.”

He ran into Fr. Chauncey Winkler, who he knew from the local Catholic Retreat for Young Singles group and told him, “I think this is where I could be of some help.”

He entered the seminary in 2005 and was among a reported 487 ordinands nationally who will join the ranks of priesthood this year. Bishop Olmsted read from the Ordination Rite during Mass.

He reminded the crowd, including family and friends who filled the first row on both sides, that Jesus chose certain disciples to carry out publicly in His name, a priestly office. He reminded the diocese’s newest priest of his roles of Christ the teacher, priest and shepherd.

“Carry out the ministry of Christ the priest with constant joy and love,” the bishop said. He also challenged Fr. Vanyo to bring the people together in one family. That’s a challenge the priest plans to meet in his new home, Queen of Peace Parish in Mesa. He will serve as parochial vicar starting July 1.

“I am most excited that I will be able to hear people’s confessions. When the Holy Spirit touches the hearts of the penitents with His grace in the confessional, I will be blessed to be a witness to it,” Fr. Vanyo said.

In addition to a parish presence, Fr. Vanyo will serve as chaplain at Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Chandler. Fr. Vanyo will offer his first liturgy, a Mass of Thanksgiving, at his home parish Holy Cross in Mesa, at 10 a.m. June 3.

Last but not least, we have the Mikey/Foot Soldier 1 two pack. Why is he Foot Soldier 1? I have no clue.. the only difference I can tell between Foot Solider 1 here and 2 that comes with Raphael is that he comes with an extra gun.

Michaealangelo is the fun loving Turtle, and as a coincidence his included accessories sort of reflect that. Mikey has his Nunchucks, of course, as well as an open communicator, transforming rope and grappel, an extra set of hands that seem to actually be meant for use with this grappel accessory, and a Nunchuck spinning effect. Why they gave Raph the pizza slice and not Mikey? Again, who knows, though I suspect it would make you buy Raph if you insisted on having said pizza for Mikey to hold. Marketing.. what can you do. Articulation, QC, paintwork, build, and so on, again, identical to that of the other Turtles. This is why I say that when you buy each of the packs, what you're really buying is a villain with a Turtle, rather than the other way around.. at least from an engineering and design perspective. I'm also guessing that Mikey and Raph are probably two of the more popular Turtles, and can probably pull the weight of having Foot Soldier here as a partner.

Foot Soldier is, well, Foot Soldier. Meant as relatively non descript robotic fodder for the Turtles to beat the crap out of, he's fairly generic looking. Lanky, kind of dressed like a ninja, and has that trademark dislocated neck that gives him the appearance of a slightly younger Professor Farnsworth from Futurama. Accessories include a pair of open fists and a pair of open palms, along with one of the Foot Soldier's traditional weapons, a laser rifle. Definitely been on the wrong end of these things many a time while playing the arcade game. Articulation is identical to that of Shredder, but less restricted due to the fact its skirt is nowhere as rigid as the dual layered piece that Shredder has to deal with, and his head is designed such that it sits on a proper ball joint, allowing for greater range of motion for the head. Of course, he doesn't look nearly as cool as Shredder does, so.. you win some, you lose some. Otherwise, the good paint work, cel shading, QC, and build seen thus far continues. As an added bonus, the paint on the hands of my Foot Soldier do not seem to have an indication of overspray.

With that, the Turtle 2 packs have all been opened, and analyzed. For their price, they're pretty good, as they'd be in competition with the likes of Marvel Legends and other action figures priced in and around the $20 - $25 USD price points, and feature better looking joints than most of the major players out there in your traditional big box stores. Of the releases, Shredder is by far the best, with the Turtles as a whole being second, and Foot Soldier third. Krang is Krang.. he's a beast in and of his own, and really can't be compared to anything else.

I hope you've enjoyed these blurbs about the sets. While I'm done reviewing the sets, I'm not quite done with the figures yet. You see, there's been a lot of trash talk about some products being superior and what not, and I just happen to have a few things lying around that will allow for a ground level investigation of this matter. But for now..

COWABUNGA!

December 30, 2007: For Flickr Group Roulette. Today's group is 13 Things, so here are 13 random things about me:

1. I started baking about 10 years ago. Back then it was chocolate chip cookies and little else, but over the years I've slowly added new things.

2. I've played golf forever, but about 4 years ago I fell back in love with the game. The strange thing about my game is even though I play right handed, I putt left handed.

3. When I was young I wanted to be an artist. Or a cartoonist.

4. I am a huge Peanuts fan, especially Snoopy. Anybody who has seen my stream probably knows that already.

5. I love old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s. My favorites are Humphrey Bogart movies.

6. I love music. All kinds of music.

7. I love dogs. My family always had Shetland Sheepdogs and they are my favorite breed.

8. I have smoked exactly 6 cigarettes in my entire lifetime.

9. When I was in 7th grade I read Watership Down by Richard Adams and it remains one of my favorite books. I usually re-read it every two or three years.

10. Every summer for the last 10 years my dad has rented a beach house and everybody comes and spends the week. I really enjoy spending the time with my nieces and nephews.

11. My first computer was a Commodore 64.

12. I attended the first game at Comerica Park in Detroit in 2000. It was about 32 degrees and we lasted about 4 innings before we left.

13. I'm really bummed that the Browns missed the playoffs this year after an incredible 10-6 season (I love the Seahawks but I also consider myself a Browns fan too).

Image from the final day of cleaning out and turning over the 1999 purple Saturn SL-1 I had driven from 2001 to 2015.

I've been tagged...

1. I love squirrels.

2. I collect maps.

3. One of my favorite smells is brewing coffee but I'm not a coffee drinker.

4. I drink only black tea with milk and sugar and people make fun of me for it.

5. I have never worn make-up except in my sister's wedding.

6. I like snakes and rats and have had both as pets.

7. If I won the lottery I would build a homeless shelter and a soup kitchen with some of my winnings.

8. My favorite movie of all time is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

9. My favorite comedians are Jim Carrey and Jim Gaffigan.

10. I am a clutter bug and I hate to clean probably because my mom was a clean freak and I am a rebel.

11. I am a recovering Catholic. I consider myself agnostic with Buddhist tendencies.

(no offense to any Catholics, I just had a bad personal experience with it. I respect all religions but I'm more of a spiritual being and I don't trust organized religion.)

12. I eat too much chocolate.

13. I've been to Iceland.

14. I don't like chewy candy like Twizzlers, Gummi Bears, etc. Twix Peanutbutter all the way!

15. I envy women who love to exercise. To me it's a pain in the ass and I only do it when my pants start getting tight or I have to fit into a bridesmaid dress...

16. I once fell thru the ice skating on a pond at a friends birthday party when I was in 7th grade. Remembering that fact is helping me psyche myself up for the Polar Plunge which I'm doing to benefit Special Olympics on Feb 21. I thank everyone who has sponsored me so far and I humbly ask for a small donation from my Flickr friends for a truly wonderful cause. www.firstgiving.com/kellylewellyn Thank you!!

1) I have horrible posture.

2) My nose is huge.

3) My facial hair sucks.

But god damn it if I'm not handsome. ;)

~

I saw someone do this really cool a really cool profile portrait that was super dramatic and had these crazy shadows, so I decided to have a go at it!

A lot of people may not know this about me, but I listen to a TON of hip hop. For some reason, when I first meet someone, that isn't the impression that they get?? I think because I used to have super long skater hair, people thought I listened to a different genre of music.. but nope. I listen almost exclusively to hip hop. I grew up on hip hop, listened to hip hop my whole life, and will continue to listen to hip hop for the rest of my life. It's just something I can't ever get tired of.

And the hip hop culture is amazing as well. I lurk a bunch of hip hop forums and I can read the discussions for hours on end. Unfortunately though, a lot of people, mostly older people, think hip hop is ignorant music for hood rats. They listen to one "hip hop" song on the radio and immediately generalize that kind of music to a particular group of people.. But that's actually one of the things that I love most about the culture of hip hop. Not many people dig deep into the underground artists, into the more introspective types of hip hop. A lot of my favorite rappers talk about their stories growing up, the struggles they've had as teenagers and adults, and how they've made something from nothing.. And I think that's inspiring. It's easy for me to relate to.

As for my favorite artists/albums?

Below the Heavens by Blu & Exile is my #1 album of all time. If you haven't heard it yet, you need to give it a chance. HMU and I'll give you a download link to it. It's actually my girlfriend's favorite album too! :3

Another one of my favorites is, and this may be an unpopular opinion to some, Kanye West.

If you think about it, without Kanye, the hip hop game would be completely different today. Think about when College Dropout dropped, what other kinds of hip hop were dominant? Gangsta rap. Then Kanye came and literally, LITERALLY, changed the game. Without Kanye, there would be no Drake. There would be no Kendrick Lamar. And those two are two of the most popular out there right now.. And yet, people don't give Kanye credit, and instead, bash him as a crazy lunatic who wants nothing but attention.

Listen to College Dropout. Then listen to Late Registration. Kanye completely changes his style between albums. Then listen to Graduation. AGAIN, he changes his album. 808's and Heartbreaks comes next, and once again, his style is completely different. His greatest album in my opinion, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, shows a completely different Kanye. I don't know any rapper that can change his style like that for almost every album. Crazy.

Kanye haters, give Yeezy another chance.

This one's for you Nave Dhesi

1. i am obsessed with my future, like where i'm going to live and my job and everything. during school i get on my laptop and, like, do street-view of places i want to live when i grow up, i'm not even kidding.

2. i wear a t-shirt and jeans/shorts every single day. because nothing looks good on me and i can't afford to shop anyway. hah. it is kind of a drag to not have anything interesting to wear for photos whatever

3. every single night i make an on-the-go playlist that ALWAYS happens to be exactly 10 songs long. i play it while i sleep that night, the next morning on the bus, and all day the next day.

4. i play the piano... but i am only like half as good as other people my age because i'm not really that devoted. hah. i kind of self-taught myself the guitar a couple summers ago and want to pick it up again.

5. i have lived in the same town all my life. and i have only moved houses once. AND THEY WERE IN THE SAME GENERAL AREA. hah, my location is so dynamic and interesting~!~!~!~!

6. i am like 5'8-9" but have really small hands, it is kind of weird

7. i have liked photography since like january 2009, but i feel like i didn't really "get it," like, it wasn't meaningful to me, until november-ish... when i didn't have a camera. ri-ight.

8. i usually hate picking favorites but my favorite holiday is HALLOWEEN absolutely. last halloween was amazing... hah. *awkward overpowering nostalgia moment*

9. i have an issue with keeping my room clean but all my schoolwork is really neat.

10. MAY 25 IS MY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL OH MY GOD

RIGHT: University train? I think this is the SC-UCLV (Santa Clara-University) getting ready for departure.

It uses home made, very uncomfortable coaches, and the locomotive is SC's own yard loco, that now they also use in this short trips to Marta Abreu Uni.

Loco designation is #51218, its a GMD-1, I've told is the only one of its type in the entre island.

I yawned so much today that my jaw was sore. Im so tired, its nuts.

I was tagged again. so here are another 10 facts about me:

I'm not tagging anyone because I'm not sure who has played yet BUT if you want to play and you are reading this PLEASE consider yourself tagged!!

For me, the January showcase was a rather unusual event for several reasons. First, contrary to my usual practice, I made no effort to photograph every performance during the two-hour event. Second, notwithstanding reason #1, I still managed to come home with 396 new exposures and a completely full memory card, the first time that has ever happened at a dance exhibition -- or, for that matter, any other kind of photoshoot I have done. (At the last showcase in August, I had about a half-dozen shots left when I was finished, but this time I ran completely out of space on the card about ten minutes before the showcase ended.) And third, up until now I have always reviewed all of the images on my computer before uploading any of them, and then I have uploaded my favorites first and the lesser images later. This time I have not undertaken any preliminary review of my latest crop of images, and while I do very much like this one, taken just as the showcase was getting underway, I don't know how it compares to the others. So I may surprise myself before I'm finished with this project.

I don't know this student, but her partners are James Weathers and Tim Bishop, who appear slightly out of focus as they approach her. Joshua Smith, who is just outside the frame to the right, also performed with them.

There was a fourth reason why this event was unusual for me: it turned out to be my most expensive dance exhibition ever, since I lost a $65.00 circular polarizer while setting up my camera. I was a little upset about that, but the polarizer will be replaced soon, and things could have been far worse. At least it wasn't a lens!

In California personlized plates must contain one letter and have two to seven characters; the annual cost per plate is $30 extra. I saw this plate while driving back from Taos and took the photo when we were both stopped for a red light. My cars have plates that look like 10, 20 and 304. The zero on each is really the letter "O". My hat is off to Mr. "1" ! ! And my hat is off to New Mexico. Normally the governor would grab number ONE. This driver looked like an average guy. (PS he shouldn't drive with his handicapped placard blocking his view and two of the middle brake light bulbs need replacing.)

Before taking the T189 OU photographic course I had only taken family photos on a compact camera. This short 10 week course was the first time I had used a DSLR. Prior to this the only photo editing I had done was a bit of cropping and adjusting brightness and contrast, I had never used Photoshop before.

I passed the ECA with 95% (mark for the CMA was 98%):

Part 1 Visual Awareness: Outstanding

Part 1 Technical Quality : Excellent

Part 2 Written Component: Excellent

Comments were:

Part 1 (i) Visual Awareness - An excellent set of images my favourite of which is the Teddy Bears as I love the warm bright yellow against the grey monochrome of the other bears. An excellent and well thought out choice of colour and mono mix.

I think the scrabble picture is "inspired" and amusing excellent demonstration of using differential focus and choosing the right point of sharpest focus

I appreciated your comparison and contrast of the two pictures of the landscape with cool colours which is a peaceful landscape with an added bonus of the well placed house and the drama and vibrancy of the colours in No.7.

I like your triple image the three different colours used maked a picture which has impact out of a fairly simple subject. Good composition and use of reflections on No.4. The jumping boy image has impact as does the simple image of the bottle. The simple image of the swans head shows a different type of "seeing" to the complex image of the Honeysuckle which for me is one of your best images and the work that you put into it was worth the effort.

Part 1 (ii) Techinical Quality - The techniques used on No.8 and 9 work really well and make a simple subject into something quite different and satisfying.

Your technical standard is generally very good and use of clone tool and other tools shows you are mastering Digital Darkroom techniques.

As the strongest highlight draws the eye I would darken down the right side of the sky in No.5 and carefully lighten or brighten the house to make it stand out as the strongest highlight.

Well done Jill - keep taking the pictures and exploring techniques and subject matter, most of all enjoy your photography.
