The Vought F4U Corsair veers out of formation to represent the nation's fallen airmen.

A lot happened between the time we ate at Taki's Restarant in Erie and we got on the road home Sunday Morning. Let me explain. No. Let me sum up.

We went back to the campsite for a nappy-nap in our hammocks. Before taking said nap, we decided to put everything we had with us - including my camera bag and all of my clothes - into our tents and tarp them over for the "showers" that were approaching.

When everything was just so, we went to our respective hammocks for a nap. When the showers started, I was almost asleep. It was nice, though...the pitter-patter of rain on the tents, the sound of the waves from Lake Erie, the cool breeze...

...and then the skies opened up. Showers? I think not. This was a THREE HOUR DOWNPOUR. Now...this would not be so bad if we would have thought to leave our RAIN GEAR outside the tents. But no, we were already soaked to the bone before we could get our dry clothes out. (Our tents opened from the top, so in order to open them up to get something, you'd have to expose everything in the tent to the elements...great design)

So we spent the next three hours making the best of it; walking around in the rain and walking down to the docks and walking back to the site and walking to the edge of the lake and, eventually, screaming at the heavens to please just fucking cut it out.

And eventually, it did. The sun even made an appearance, and our spirits raised. We took off on a 30-something mile ride to Ohio to go to Red Lobster for dinner.

While there, the skies opened again, and this time there were really strong winds. We could see trees bending over outside the window. I started to freak a little...were the tents even going to be there when we got back? If they were there, would they be flooded? I hadn't slept real well in that thing when it was dry and warm out, now I was going to have to sleep in this flooded, tarped coffin of a tent? Oh no. No. We needed to get a damned motel room. Screw this.

John humored me and called a motel. We even called our campground hoping a cabin was available. No dice. So we decided to go back and just hunker down for the night.

We arrived back to find our tents were there, and they were dry. What a relief. So no campfire...so what? We sat around a lit sterno and I had three beers and then we retired to the tents, hoping the morning wouldn't be too terrible so we wouldn't have to break camp in pouring rain.

Sunday Morning

It rained overnight, and sleeping with no air circulating had gotten the best of us both. John woke at 3am to just pull the tarp off his, and I rigged mine with a bungee cord tied to - what else - an electrical box so that there could be air movement into the tent. But when we emerged in the morning, it wasn't raining, and John was able to pack up in dry weather. I was a bit more unorganized, and so it started raining by the time I was done. But anyway, we got our waterlogged gear onto the bikes and headed out.

The road into the campground was a muddy, slippery mess. Forgot to mention that. So with the extra weight of our wet-assed gear on our bikes, we cut across the grassy field and only took the mud road for about half the distance to the main road. Once we reached the main road, however, something was wrong...it still felt like I was on uneven mud.

I never seem to get it together to shoot people next to the wood pile: a) after it's stacked and b) before all the fall leaves have fallen from the trees...

A wonderful bokeh from this little gem of a lens, even at max f2.8. I'll take a picture of it on my d40 soon...

My mate Marmite - influenced by advertising? what me? never! - has left the rescue centre and gone to her new home. Being 16 years old, she was there for a bit longer than most so I really got to know her. She's such a sweet girl and very fit for her age. I really miss seeing her lovely face, but I hope she's very happy in her new home.

They're in there someplace!

I don't do it deliberately, but every time I get a camera, the first shot is of one of my animals. George is usually the closest to me, so she got the honors with the GoPro Hero.

When I'm riding my motorcycle, I'm constantly wishing I had a camera implanted in my eyes. This is cheaper and safer.

There are several models, but I only bought the standard def entry model for several reasons. First: they had it at Costco and once I saw this thing in person I just wanted it right away. Didn't want to wait for shipping.

Mostly, though, there's one critical feature missing from the GoPro lineup that I'm going to wait for, and that's a radio remote. See...this takes still photos like a normal camera when you click the shutter, or you can take them in 2,5,10,30 or 60 second intervals. That's cool. But I want to have the option of just looking at something, hitting a remote button on my handlebar, and taking a photo when I want to take a photo.

Until then, I'm going to have loads of fun playing with this entry model. I will be attaching this to my dogs. Mark my words.

(Note: this camera does not allow you to travel through time. I don't know why it says it was shot in 1970. I'll try formatting the card...)

I can't believe I'm having to tell this story but I have lost my D300 and 18-20mm vr lens! That's right, this is not a typo or some sick joke.

When we arrived at our gliding club on Friday evening it was pretty late. As I got out of the passenger side of the aircraft I picked up my camera as I normally would. The baggage compartment is on the other side of the aircraft and Paul unloaded our baggage onto the ground there. This is where I would normally have put my camera down but Brac decided to get out my side which is unusual as he normally always gets out on the other side of the aircraft so I had to put the camera down on the ground to help lift him out. I knew as I put it down that I would forget it if I didn't pick it up again straight away but I got sidetracked by a friend who came to meet us. He offered to help put the cover on the aircraft so I got involved with that first. I then helped Paul carry the baggage to the caravan.

Next morning I realised I did not have my camera. I went over to the aircraft but the camera was not there. I searched it inside and out. I enquired in the office and the club house but no joy. I asked all around the site but still nothing. Reluctantly I reported it to the police as lost.

There were two compact flash cards in the bag both of which have my name and phone number written on them but no calls have come through.

I made one last call to the police again today in case it had been handed in but no joy.

That the camera was on the grass in it's bag on Friday evening is definite. that it is not there now nor was on Saturday is also definite. What happened in between is speculation but it was too heavy to be carried off by a fox.

I have since reported it to my insurance company but the out of hours call centre could not say if it would be covered and by what degree so I will have to wait until the claims adjuster contacts me tomorrow.

I can't tell you just how gutted and stupid I feel.

I only wish there was some way of tracing it through it's serial number should it ever be sold on or taken in for repair as I feel sure it must be in someone's possession.

3031 was the original mate of car 3458 (originally 3032). Clearly, something very bad happened to 3031 but 3032 was spared. When the 3200-series cars were ordered in the 1990s, a special single car, 3457, was ordered to be paired with 3032.

My latest toy, a pair of WW2 7x50 naval binoculars by the American firm Anchor Optical Corporation of New York. Marked with a British Government arrow, they will have been manufactured for supply to Britain under the Lend-Lease scheme. Serial number is 43466.

This pattern of binocular was developed by Bausch & Lomb, but during the war, various firms in America and Canada were granted licenses, including Anchor Optical. On the left, there is the remnant of a sticker urging caution when cleaning the lenses since they have been coated (bloomed). Bausch & Lomb developed a magnesium flouride anti reflection lens coating which enhanced image brightness. Coatings were applied to military binoculars from 1943 and older models may have been retro-fitted with these lenses when returned to base workshops for repair or servicing. Since some people, unused to the purplish tint, tried to clean it off, warning stickers were applied to such binoculars.

These are in excellent mechanical and optical condition, in an original leather case, although as is often the case, eyepiece filters, contained in a pouch in the case lid, are missing.

Miles FINALLY lost his first tooth.

This is dedicated to my dear brother who passed away yesterday. Missing you so much, bro.

Memories, oh sweet memories

Make me see you, oh so passionately

Not for one day have I lost my faith

That sometime soon in your love I'll bathe

You make me smile, you make me cry

You make me want to jump up and touch the sky

You make me dream, you make it seem

As though I've been touched by angel's wing

I'm flying high, and you're beside me

Smiling at me, oh so beautifully

We're flying into the future with high speed

For anything other feeling no need

The best memories are yet to come

When both of our lives become one

The present will turn into the past

The future will make us want to gasp

My yearning for you won't ever stop

My loving for you won't ever drop

The soul in me won't ever let go

My body and mind will always love

My feet, my hands my everything

With your soul and body will make a link

So much will come, so much will pass

A vision of you and me laying on the grass

Everything is perfect, there's a shooting star

But nothing could be more beautiful then you are

Then moon is smiling, the sun has set

Me and you together, our eyes met

The feelings are there, the fire is burning

you are always in my mind

i always do think about YOU

today you are not with me... but still i wanna say... i really LOVE you.

All relevant and extensive information about the Hong Kong Police Force is available on their website

www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/

It is very comprehensive, the Hong Kong Police Force has a highly organised structure.

All Hong Kong Police Vehicles use the AM licence plate ie 2 digits and up to 4 numbers | Police vehicles have different colours, normal Police vehicles are white with red and blue stripes, the Police Traffic Division vehicles are white with yellow and blue checkerboard design.

Amazingly the Police Force have their own superstitions as well, the majority of the licence plates on Police Vehicles have lucky number combinations involving the numbers 6,8, and 9 ! Basically 6 means easy life, 8 means wealth and 9 means long life - this is very much Hong Kong Culture. The Police also use unmarked vehicles extensively which are NOT identified by the AM mark.

The Police Museum at 27 Coombe Road at the Peak is also worth a visit, see details on the website listed above.

Our cat, Cody, went missing yesterday while we were finishing up cleaning our old home in Kingsland, Georgia.

He fell/jumped out of a window and has been missing since roughly 11a.m on February 14th.

We have been looking everywhere, left our number with the humane society and surrounding fire department, posted flyers, and have walked through the surrounding woods.

We left food and treats out for him and when we went to check for him again this morning the food was gone and we saw what we are assuming are Cody's foot prints.

We are under the impression that he is hiding out in the woods.

Unfortunately we are not able to stay an additional day here in Georgia to look for him because we have to be in North Carolina no later than tomorrow morning in order to get the keys to our new home and meet the movers there so they can drop off our things.

Cody is missing in Kingsland, Georgia near the Lakes area/s, so please, if you or anyone you know live around there, please pass this along.

We need our kitty home with us!
