The Palace of the Parliament, seat of the Parliament of Romania, the second largest administrative building in the world after The Pentagon in the United States, built in the eighties of the 20th century under Nicolae Causescu's regime. In terms of weight, the Palace of the Parliament is the heaviest building in the world.
The morning marine layer slowly lifts, revealing a scene abundant in bird and marine life as the Pigeon Point Lighthouse quietly surveys the action. It's been years since this old lighthouse has leant it's beams to guide the sailors home. But it's none-the-less for it's inactivity.

I have been sitting on this shot for a couple of months. Usually, when I go to take night photos, I take a few "throw-aways" at the beginning just to make sure the camera's settings are correct. However, I kind of liked how this one came out so...here it is.
An old barn on the Palouse, with a modern Wind Farm behind it. Signs of the old and the new forms of farming, one for food the other for energy.

El Pabellón de Industrias, Manufacturas y Artes Decorativas, mas tarde llamado de Arte Antiguo e Industrias Artísticas y ahora llamado Mudéjar, fue el primero de los edificios terminados que formaron parte de la primitiva Exposición Hispano Americana que se pretendía inaugurar en el año 1914. El Palacio de Industrias y Artes Decorativas estaba dedicado a la habilidad artesanal y se configura dentro de la estética del arte anónimo, menudo y medieval del Islam, con una dualidad de sentimientos, por un lado en libertad, con claras referencias a la Alhambra, al Alcázar de Sevilla, al Palacio de los Duque de la Algaba, y al mudéjar claustral de la Rábida o de San Isidoro del Campo y por otro bajo el dominio cristiano con referencias al Alcázar sevillano del Rey Don Pedro, sabiendo conjugar en esta simbiosis lo islámico con lo plateresco, añadiendo un poderosísimo efecto pictórico. El cromatismo atrayente del edificio, hizo que se convirtiera pronto en el protagonista estético de la Plaza, llamándose enseguida Pabellón Mudéjar.
El proyecto del Pabellón Mudéjar es anterior a la Plaza de América, ya que el proyecto de ésta fue aprobado en 1913, y las obras del pabellón se iniciaron el 17 de julio de 1912. Las obras quedan prácticamente terminadas en 1914. En la decoración intervino principalmente el ceramista Manuel Martín Romero, que trabajó en la fábrica de Juan Laffita.

Floris was put to sleep by the vet. 16 years old. He could not go on like this. He lost a lot of weight and strength and the inflamation of his nose got worser and worser .This was caused by a polyp in the nose against the eye socket that couldnot be operated. The antibiotics didnot work anymore. There was no longer any prospect of improvement.
The inflammation had become very bad. He was on painkillers the last two month.
De dierenarts heeft Floris laten inslapen. Net 16 jaar oud. Zo kon hij niet verder. Hij verloor veel gewicht en kracht en de ontsteking van zijn neus werd erger en erger. Dit werd veroorzaakt door een poliep in de neus tegen de bovenkant van de oogkas aan die niet kon worden geopereerd. De antibiotica werkten niet meer. Er was geen zicht meer op verbetering. De ontsteking was heel erg geworden. Hij gebruikte de afgelopen twee maanden pijnstillers.

The Mariensäule is one of Munich's landmarks, located on the Marienplatz square.
It was erected in 1638 by order of Duke Elector Maximilian I of Bavaria to celebrate that Munich (and Landshut) were spared from destruction during the Thirty Years' War.
The column is topped by a golden statue of the Virgin Mary, who is revered here as Patrona Bavariae (Protector of Bavaria).

Yet again, the light conditions were not great, the sunset was far too hazy and washed out for my liking, I waited for 1/2 hrs and eventually some faint pink hues appeared on the horizon and created the opportunity for this shot; not ideal but that's just my luck!

El trencadís un tipo de mosaico, que se caracteriza por utilizar teselas irregulares, las cuales se obtienen al partir baldosas cerámicas a golpe de martillo. “Trencadís” es un vocablo catalán que significa “quebradizo.”
El trencadís se hizo popular luego de que lo utilizara Antoni Gaudí, arquitecto español para decorar el Parque Güell en Barcelona. Empleó para ello restos de cerámica y restos de vajilla de otras procedencias.
Al trocear las cerámicas en teselas más pequeñas, el trencadís, le permitió a Gaudí revestir las más diversas formas sobre todo las curvas y las ondulaciones, tan usuales en la arquitectura gaudiana.
La cubierta de cerámica, desempeñaba también la función de proteger las obras de albañilería de los agentes atmosféricos.
Un mosaico está realizado con la técnica del “trencadís” si cumple con lo siguiente:
Las teselas son de forma irregular.
Las teselas se articulan a modo de puzzle.
Las teselas poseen aproximadamente las mismas dimensiones.
Las juntas entre teselas deben ser del mismo ancho.
Estas chimeneas recubiertas con trencadís se encuentran en la terraza del palacio Güel, una de las obras maestras de Gaudí.

The Ibn Battuta Mall is a large shopping mall on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. Having more than 270 shops, 50 restaurants, a 21-screen cinema and over 4,500 parking spaces on a total of 521,000 square meters, Ibn Battuta is the world’s largest themed shopping mall.
It consists of six courts, each of whose designs are inspired by some of the countries visited by the great Moroccan Berber explorer, Ibn Battuta:

My latest tessellation design in my Blocks-tessellation serie and I call this one "Little Blocks". You can see the 3 different phases, either follow the yellow or the blue path, starting on the left.

Discovered this pattern independently.
This view from the northern Linderspitze at 2372m goes straight into Austria.
The Austrian/German borderline is actually about 5m below the point I was standing, though not particularly marked.
