Na de Sint-Elisabethsvloed stroomde het grootste deel van het Maas- en Rijnwater tussen Dordrecht en Werkendam via de Biesbosch in zuidwestelijke richting weg van de oorspronkelijke mondingsarmen. Toch heeft een deel van het Maaswater via de Beneden-Merwede nog lange tijd de Maasmond kunnen bereiken. Sinds het afsluiten van de Maas bij Andel en het graven van de Bergse Maas is de Maasmond feitelijk afgesneden van zijn bronrivier. Anno 2015 kan nog maar een beetje Maaswater via Spui en Dordtse Kil tot de Maasmond doordringen. De rest van de Maas stroomt via het Haringvliet naar zee. Dat betekent dat de Maasmond nu vooral door de Rijn gevoed wordt.
Tot in de twintigste eeuw bestond de Maasmond uit twee geulen (de Brielse Maas en Scheur) die met elkaar in verbinding stonden en gevoed werden door de Nieuwe Maas en de Oude Maas. Voor de oude duinenrij bij de Hoek van Holland kwamen zij in het Noorder Diep weer bij elkaar. Met een knik naar het zuiden stroomde de Maas daarna de Noordzee in.

After the St. Elisabeth's flood, most of the Meuse and Rhine waters flowed between Dordrecht and Werkendam via the Biesbosch in the south-west direction from the original mouth-arms. Nevertheless, a part of the Meuse water can reach the Maasmond for a long time through the Lower Merwede. Since the closing of the Meuse at Andel and the digging of the Bergse Maas, the Maasmond is actually cut off from its source river. Anno 2015 can only penetrate a little Maaswater through Spui and Dordtse Kil to the Maasmond. The rest of the Meuse flows through the Haringvliet to the sea. This means that the Maasmond is now fed mainly by the Rhine.
Until the twentieth century, the Maasmond consisted of two trenches (the Brielse Maas en Scheur) that were connected and fed by the New Maas and the Oude Maas. For the old dune row at the corner of Holland they came together again in the Noorder Diep. With a nod to the south, the Meuse flowed into the North Sea.

Het Lazaruspoortje is in 1609, waarschijnlijk door de Goudse stadsbeeldhouwer Gregorius Cool, gemaakt als toegangspoort voor het toenmalige leprozenhuis aan de Gouwe in de Nederlandse stad Gouda.

Pioneering Spirit (formerly Pieter Schelte) is the world's largest vessel by gross tonnage. She was designed for the single-lift installation and removal of large oil and gas platforms and the installation of record-weight pipelines.
Designed by Swiss-based Allseas Group, the 382-metre (1,253 ft) long, 124-metre (407 ft) wide vessel was built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (2011–14) at a cost of €2.6 billion and commenced offshore operations in August 2016.
In June 2017, Pioneering Spirit commenced pipelay for the first line of SouthStream Transport B.V's dual 930-kilometre (580 mi) Turkish Stream pipeline in the Black Sea.
Allseas has committed to building an even larger version of the same design, Allseas Amazing Grace, the delivery of which is planned for 2022.
De Grote of Sint-Catharijnekerk is de hoofdkerk van de vestingstad Brielle, in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland. De Sint-Catharijnekerk wordt gebruikt door de protestantse gemeente Sint-Catharijne. De kerk was in opzet het grootste kerkgebouw van Holland, maar is nooit voltooid. De bouw begon in 1417. In 1456 was er een grote brand en in 1482 raakte het geld op en werd de bouw gestaakt. Alleen het driebeukige schip van de kruisbasiliek en de ingebouwde toren waren toen voltooid.
Het enorme tien-geboden bord vormde oorspronkelijk een houten afsluitwand tussen de kerkzaal en een gallerij in de toren die uitkeek op de kerk. Nadien is het orgel ervoor geplaatst. Weer later zijn wand en orgel verplaatst naar de huidige plek tegen de dichte wand waar ooit het koor had moeten staan. De galerij in de toren is sindsdien weer open.

De Maasmonding is het kustgebied waar het deel van Nederlandse rivierdelta dat gevormd wordt door Maas en Rijn uitstroomt in de Noordzee. In de scheepvaart wordt dit aangeduid als de Maasmond. In de monding van de Maas is vanaf ca. 1970 de Maasvlakte aangelegd. Bij besluit van 20 april 1976 werd door het college van burgemeester en wethouders van Rotterdam formeel 'Maasmond' genoemd: 'de toegangsvaarweg voor Rotterdam en Europoort, welke uit zee gezien zich bevindt tussen de Noorderdam, de Splitsingsdam en de zuidwal'.
Nederland bestaat voor een groot deel uit het aaneengesloten deltagebied van de rivieren Rijn, Maas en Schelde. Hun mondingen, die merendeels door getijdenwerking zijn verbreed tot estuaria, liggen in de provincies Zeeland en Zuid-Holland. De Rijntakken IJssel en Utrechtse Vecht stromen via kleine delta's naar de voormalige Zuiderzee.

The Maas estuary, the coastal area where the part of Dutch river Maas, and which is formed by Rhine, flows out in the North Sea. In shipping this is called the Maasmond. In the mouth of the Meuse, the Maasvlakte was built around 1970. By decision of April 20, 1976, the Rotterdam mayor and deputy mayor formally called 'Maasmond': the access road for Rotterdam and Europoort, which is seen from the sea between the north dam, the splitting dam and the south wall.
The Netherlands consists largely of the contiguous delta area of the Rhine, Maas and Schelde rivers. Their estuaries, which are mostly broadened to estuaries, are located in the provinces of Zeeland and South Holland. The Rhine branches IJssel and Utrechtse Vecht flow through small deltaes to the former Zuiderzee.

We recently played in the Theater Zuidplein with our band and I must admit that it was the first time I was in this Rotterdam Zuid facility. In its history of more then 50 years the Zuidpleintheater underwent a renovation and a number of interior redesigns. It started is life as the "Groote Schouwburg".

Geschiedenis
De molen werd in 1781 in Delft gebouwd als run- en snuifmolen en in 1885 in opdracht van Huibert Blonk naar Nootdorp overgeplaatst en aangepast als korenmolen. De Delftse molen diende als vervanging van een 17e eeuwse wipkorenmolen in Nootdorp.
Begin 1886 overleed Huibert Blonk. Zijn (tweede) echtgenote verkocht de molen aan de oudste zoon van Huibert: Arend Blonk. Arend Blonk overleed in 1898 en zijn echtgenote, Maria Notenboom, verkocht de molen aan Arie Voorwinden Verploegh.
Van 1908 tot 1947 had de molen zelfzwichting; vandaar de doorboorde bovenas voor de centrale zwichtstang. In 1947 werd deze molen, als tweede molen van Nederland, op één roede voorzien van het wieksysteem Fauël met remkleppen die bediend worden door centrifugaalgewichten.
In 1952 werd de uitoefening van het commerciële maalbedrijf stop gezet.
In 1974 kocht Koos de Wolf (uurwerkmaker) woonhuis, molen en graanschuur. Vanaf het begin zette hij zich in om de molen gerestaureerd te krijgen. Na een moeizaam proces kwam de restauratie tot stand en in mei 1989 werd de molen geheel draai- en maalvaardig weer officieel in gebruik genomen. De totale kosten hadden f 480.000 bedragen.
Sinds september 2008 is de molen en bijbehorend restaurant De Vang in bezit van de Stichting Vrienden van de Windlust te Nootdorp.

This is a small break in the Antwerpen series. Shot yesterday during a lovely 'mist exploring walk' in my hometown Rotterdam. The water taxi's stayed at their base the 'Schipperswerf', because of the heavy mist that not only covered Rotterdam but almost the whole country. The KLPD (the 'national police') had banned all crafts without radar from the waterways.
