Electric milk floats were a familiar sight on Britain’s roads throughout the second half of the 20th century. The Pony was originally designed by Brush Electrical Engineering for use around its own factory site in Loughborough. It proved so useful that in 1946 the company decided to market them. The manoeuvrable Pony was ideally suited to use in urban areas, with a range of about 15 miles when fully loaded. The open cab made it easy for the driver to jump in and out when making deliveries. It was available with other types of body to suit a range of delivery and industrial uses.
The Express Dairy Company was the first to use electric floats in 1932. Their experiment with a small fleet of GV electric vehicles in London proved successful and led to the replacement of horse-drawn milk floats.

BVB in the Swiss city of Basel is a long-time operator of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro and has now moved onto the battery-electric eCitaro in both 12m rigid and 18m articulated form. The latter, at least, are opportunity charged and have equipment on the roof that raises to contact an overhead unit when laying over. Here bus 7113 has left the Kleinhuningen terminus, where two such units are present for a rapid boost of the batteries. It is working a 36 journey to Schifflande. These buses ride very nicely.

À la fin des années 1980, Citroën se rend compte que l’automobile peut devenir un problème en ville et, esprit d’innovation oblige, travaille activement à la recherche de solution. Une des réponses sera ce très intelligent et complet concept Citela présenté au pavillon français de Séville en 1992 pour l’exposition universelle. Complet car il répond aux questions de pollution avec sa motori-sation électrique, mais aussi aux spécificités de la circulation en ville comme son petit gabarit, ses roues jumelées à l’arrière pour un court rayon de braquage et une grande surface vitrée couvrant aussi le pavillon. La prise électrique se trouve derrière la plaque minéralogique. D’une longueur de 2,96 m et d’une largeur de 1,55 m pour 790 kg, son moteur électrique de 72 Volts lui permettait d’atteindre 110 km/h. Ce projet aboutira naturellement aux AX électriques. Dans l’esprit de cette vente, le modèle original est et restera conservé par Citroën Heritage. C’est donc la maquette de salon qui est proposée. Unique en son genre, elle représente exactement ce que ce concept innovant propose, à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieure. Une occasion inespérée de posséder ce qu’imaginait Citroën en véhicule électrique, 25 ans avant l’essor de ce type de motorisation.

The Proterra Catalyst 40' demonstrator unit sits on layover at Tenth and Robert in downtown Saint Paul, MN after a short trip shadowing part of the route 68 line. This was part of a two day service demonstration during a visit to Metro Transit of the Twin Cities.
The Catalyst is a rechargeable bus that runs solely on electric power stored in batteries on board. The batteries are recharged either via rooftop conductors at a special charging pod that is set up at a layover point, or at the yard or garage when the bus is parked and not in service.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Twingo in 2023, Renault planned several operations, including the creation of a number of show cars based on Twingos converted to run on electric power, using the EV kit developed by R-Fit. These kept the original gearbox, but in place of the four-cylinder petrol engine, they were fitted with an electric motor, batteries and all the controls necessary for a set-up of this type. They are, however, prototypes which were granted individual vehicle approval and cannot in any way be registered for road use by a new owner.
This Twingo is one of these specially built vehicles. Inspired by the ‘boy band’ culture of the 1990s and 2000s, it applies the codes of the Y2K aesthetic, a name derived from the acronym for ‘Year 2K’ or ‘Year 2000’, attributed to the programmer David Eddy in reference to the year 2000 bug. In response to this retro-futuristic movement, this Twingo has a predominantly turquoise colour scheme, translucent elements such as the gear lever gaiter, computer typography for the Twingo logos, and seats and door cards covered in a shiny grey trim suggestive of a spacesuit ... Fitted with a transparent sunroof, this extremely original Twingo prototype stands out superbly from all the mass-produced examples.

Operator HTM in The Hague has taken battery-electric buses in big numbers of the past couple of years, with BYD, Mercedes-Benz and VDL products in that field across the Haaglanden Stad and Haaglanden Streek fleets, according to an online source. Those buses have led to a decimation of what was previously a fleet of CNG-fuelled MAN Lion's City models. Here eCitaro 1426 (21-BZT-5) is seen working a 28 trip to Voorburg station upon departure from Den Haag Centraal station - a proper multimodal facility, with train, tram, light rail, bus and coach services coming together in one location.
