This exact replica of his “35” racing car was made in 1927 at Ettore Bugatti’s Molsheim works in Alsace for his son Roland. With its electric engine and top speed of 15-20 km/h, it proved an excellent advertising gimmick and about ninety were eventually produced.

Perhaps the most notable transformation in the UK bus industry outside Greater Manchester in recent years has been in nearby Warrington, where an almost wholesale fleet renewal with battery-electric buses has been delivered, accompanied by a new depot to suit those vehicles. A yellow livery introduced with the Volvo BZL electric fleet furthers the impression of change.
Most of the BZLs are single-deck examples in a variety of lengths but there are also some double-deckers. As it the case with all BZL deliveries to the UK, MCV has supplied the bodywork. Here 2001 (BU25 YZB) is seen in Warrington town centre working a 16A journey to Dallam.
Battista "Pinin" Farina, the famous Italian cachbuilder always dreamt of creating a car bearing his name. In March 2019, Automobili Pininfarina unveiled the Battista. The Battista will be an all-electric hyper GT car to clients from 2020. 90 years after Battista founded Carrozzria Pininfarina, the Battista will be launched as Italy's most powerful and fastest car. Paolo Pininfarina, Michael Perschke, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina and Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman, Anand Mahindra, confirm that the limited-edition hypercard Battista will be the fastest and most powerful car ever designed and produced in Italy. Power and torque equate to 1.900 hp and 2.300 Nm respectively, meaning the Battista has the potential to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds, faster than a Formula 1 car, and break the 250 mph top speed barrier - all with a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles. No more than 150 Battistas will be available from late-2020.

The first battery-electric buses on Merseyside for trunk services arrived a few years ago in the form of a batch of BYD ADL Enviro200EVs for Arriva. No more have followed, although the Liverpool City Region is in the protracted process of taking delivery of 20 similarly zero-emission but hydrogen fuel cell-electric Enviro400FCEV double-deckers presently. They form part of Mayor Steve Rotheram's plans to revolutionise buses in the Liverpool City Region that also include the now-typical hare-brained intention to reregulate services via the franchising mechanism, despite there being little to no indication where the substantial sum of money to pay for that will come from.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, Enviro200EV 7003 (LJ67 DME) passes the Empire Theatre on the final part of its journey into Liverpool city centre on an 18 journey.

Reregulation of bus services in Greater Manchester under the Bee Network brand has seen massive investment in that provision, both in establishing the franchising regime in the first place and then in new vehicles. Diesel and battery-electric stock has been purchased in big numbers, and a major repaint and refurbishment regime for existing buses has also been rolled out. While the transition period is still in hand, the overall effect is impressive, regardless of what one may think of the political ideology behind the change from the previous deregulated market that has been a flagship policy of Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham.
A separate task should have been conversion of Stockport depot to run an entirely battery-electric fleet, for which part-funding was obtained from the first round of the government Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas scheme. 170 Volvo BZL vehicles were ordered to that end. However, subsequent to that it was discovered that the longstanding Stockport depot - retained by Stagecoach Manchester under the third tranche of franchising rollout - was not suitable for such a mass electrification. A replacement is needed that will take some years to procure and deliver. The BZL fleet was thus reallocated, with many of them in service with Metroline Manchester - a newcomer to the region under that final stage of reregulation.
Despite the depot problem, the BZLs can be seen in Stockport on various routes operated by Metroline. Here VMD372 (BD74 WLJ) is seen having just passed under the town's famous railway viaduct while working a 203 to Piccadilly in Manchester city centre.
