The Siam Tulip or Summer Tulip (Curcuma alismatifolia) " Kra Cheaw " in Thai language is a tropical plant native to northern Thailand and Cambodia. Despite its name, it is not related to the tulip, but to the various ginger species such as turmeric. It can grow as an indoor plant, and is also sold as cut flowers.
One of the most famous wild fields of Siam Tulips is in the Pa Hin Ngam National Park in the Chaiyaphum province of Thailand.

Nonostante il suo nome, non è un tulipano, ma appartiene a specie diverse come lo zenzero. Si può coltivare come pianta da appartamento, ed i fiori sono anche venduti come fiori recisi.
Uno dei più famosi campi selvatici del Siam Tulips si trova in Pa Hin Ngam Parco Nazionale nella provincia di Chaiyaphum Tailandia.

This retired ferry boat had been permanently moored on this stretch of the river for some years doing service as a floating bar and restaurant. Sadly, it capsized this winter when the river basin in Rome was flooded to alieviate flooding upstream. I guess it was moored too tightly on one side and was not able to rise with the rising water. Either that or it rose and then got caught on the submerged bank when the river level fell again. Nobody was hurt.
Anyway it is a sad sight.
