Zendala challenge # 39 This one was hard for me, The spaces were very small, so I had to use my .005 micron pen.
This one I colored in a little differently: I did the coloring with my Neocolor crayons (don't you just love these..!) & colored pencils over it. It made the colors a bit richer I think..
This is my first Zendala--titled "Internal Wealth"-- as well as my very first posting of my artwork anywhere on the Internet. I am no artist by any means. Before I discovered Zentangle, I couldn't draw a straight line WITH a ruler. And now I surprise myself every time I begin to work on another Zentangle or ZIA. Even though I am relatively a newbie to this art form (and merely participating in art), I welcome any and all critiques, constructive criticism, and encouragement you more seasoned Zentanglers and bonafide artists can give me. I very much want to improve my skills and style as I continue to use this wonderful art form to distract myself from the every-day struggles of being disabled at a relatively young age.
This was created as the first entry (week of Dec 26 - Jan 1) in the calendar book "Tangle Journal 2012" by Geneviève Crabe. Used black Sakura Pigma Micron pens and graphite pencil for shading.
Finished my pre-strung Zendala from the Thursday class I gave this week. Betweed, Kuke, Zedbra, Flux.
A new (for me) take on Flux - rather Mooka-like. Like how Betweed looks like if you start it alternately from different corners of the triangles.
Finished this little mandala after dinner tonight, sitting in a rocking chair in the living room of a 180 year old house by the ocean in #Newfoundland, listening to old stories, drinking wine and having a laugh...such a great way to spend a vacation! ☺️❤

first I draw a the straight line thru the middle, and mark off the width of the bands. Draw those in with the compass, and then mark off the grid with a protractor.
Next I draw basic shapes to fill in pencil.
Then, start fillin' them!
Thanks to JSPCreates for the process she blogged. REALLY helpful! :)
My first zendala (on an original tile) with help and encouragement from Sharon Robinson - thanks Sharon
A patu is a short club like, traditional maori weapon. The name came from the shape of the leaves on this mandala
A little thank you for my mum and dad. I temporarily forgot that 'thank you' is 2 words, not one but it's the thought that counts!
Today's mandala. It's been a grey and long day, and a rather fuzzy meeting. Words, words, words. It shows :)
The template is from a children's colouring book (Pocket Mandalas), I cut it out and mounted it on orange card stock.
Playing around in my sketchbook again, getting some ideas flowing for a larger piece! ;) :)

Went to Jella Verelst's course on Zendalas as a map of the universe yesterday. Great opportunity to tangle a Zendala again - I don't do many, for some reason. Not my usual choice of tangles (well, I did add Papyrus on my own), but I like the result. We were three CZTs at the course - Jella and me for Belgium, and Stella Peters-Hessels for the Netherlands :) hence the name :)
