During the demolition of Thames Board Mills which was one of Warrington's biggest employers, reinstated class 40 renumbered 97405 from 40060 on a ballast drop on the branch that runs on the east side of Arpley Yard after the up line was relayed on a dull 27 July 1985. There's some old school railwaymen getting on with it in less than corporate orange.
The record shot of 69003 had me trawling through the back catalogue to when Arpley Yard was host to the 69's previous guise as ex "Fertis" Romanian built 56018 which was stored here for most of 2009 and at least up to May 2010. The 37's in the background were 37670+37401. Tuesday 9 June 2009.

Mitsubishi 9413 sits forlorn at the litte freight house. The little diesel and the two cars are the only modern objects, apart from that it seems that any moment a steam powered freight could pull into the yard and a 2-8-2 class 7100 would quench its thirst at the water spout.
Today the once thriving meter gauge network on the Peloponissos peninsular is a tragic waste. I am glad that I have seen at least a little glimpse of it before it was shoved over the cliffs into railway history a few years later. Only a few yard tracks filled with derelict junk is what remains here. All other tracks have been lifted. The buildings are still there, though.

Time is up for this old beasts...the age of the cowl on Canadian National's roster has come to a close. Within the last year and a half, all of the railway's 2400's and former BCOL 4600's have been retired from active service, with uncertain fates beyond. The "fat bodies" now spend their last days languishing in deadlines like this one behind the shops at MacMillan Yard, or worse, cut into pieces at a scrap dealer in near Welland, Ontario.
Despite many of CN's former dash-8's getting the torch, a good number of units are still intact, and hopefully some of them can receive a second chance at life on the high iron under new ownership...
What really got me was seeing just how many GE dash 9's and GM SD75I's that are now popping up in deadlines across the system, being the youngest road units on roster to be laid up serviceable or not. It made me scratch my head, as both models generally have build dates no earlier than 1995, and yet they are showing up sidelined with their fluids drained and even stacks capped awaiting a return to service... Makes ya feel old.

Grade II listed main entrance to the former Royal Clarence Victualling Yard Weevil Lane Gosport Hampshire. Established in 1828 one of two principal victualling yards for the Royal Navy the other in Plymouth, Royal Clarence was closed in 1995, all of the site is now preserved but converted to residential and other uses.
9T69 was I think a local trip working to/from Wath. Not an MGR hopper in sight!

A single SD40-2 sits outside the north end of the North Yard engine shop. UP has moved virtually all maintenance to North Platte, NE, so only the most basic maintenance is now conducted here in Denver.

CNTN grabs their train of Cement and idlers from Tufford yard, the former PRR north yard in Cadillac. They will soon depart town for Buzzi Cement in Elmira.

Royal Wiliam Yard in Stonehouse, Plymouth, UK was designed by Victorian architect Sir John Rennie and constructed between 1825 and 1831. The Royal William Yard is steeped in history and is considered to be one of the most important groups of historic military buildings in Britain. It is also houses the largest collection of Grade 1 listed military buildings in Europe, but has now been made into apartments and a business park.

I took this yesterday after I cut the grass in the front yard with my push mower. It took me a couple of hours to do everything. We have 1.08 acres of land. Usually, Stu does this with the driving lawn mower, but I felt the need to walk a bit, so this was a perfect way to do it. The grass was nice and soft too which made it pleasant.

The good old days before Ranelagh Bridge Yard ceased to be a stabling/refuelling point and you could see all sorts of motive power. It wasn't always possible to identify the exact loco, as here, so the 47's and Western may remain anonymous. The one Western it isn't is 1065 as that was on the stop blocks in the station!
