This container ship, the Hansa Constitution, took a wrong turn and hit the sea wall. No one was hurt and it moved off quickly but it was a bit of a surprise to see it.

As I walked from the car up to the location, I thought "what chance something on the SSFL? Naaah, haven't seen it used since the first working back in December." Unfortunately, I had the big lens on. The first image was poorly composed, so I've settled on posting this one of the oddity colour scheme. NR19/NR18/NR105 on a down freight at Minto 20130717

Agfa Vista Plus 200 works perfectly fine with brightly and evenly illuminated scenes. No need to use much more expensive professional film under such circumstances.

However when the lighting moves outside the comfort zone of this film, results can turn out rather Lomo-esque.

It doesn't really matter since Agfa Vista Plus 200 is really Fujifilm C200 and Fujifilm is withdrawing from the film market, so this film will soon be gone. But I'm making a mental note for use of my two last rolls.

Waiting for Jnr™

Sorry Dave.

This was a beautiful coincidence. I was just about to upload today's picture of me looking at the clock, counting the minutes until i had to pick Rhoda from a friend's house, when i saw Dave's prediction on the previous post, so i went and shot the same pic again, but with a slightly different expression =)

It's also the day i realised i'm a twat and cannot count. Jnr™ is due today, so my "days left" titling has been 1 day off throught the whole sequence!

A tweaked version of this one.

The driver of this bus was unfamiliar with the route, and ended up grounding the vehicle in the soft grass and mud near where I live (Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, England). Thus the bus was abandoned until the engineer brought a spare bus with him, with planks of wood, and recovered the bus shortly afterwards.

There was a show of recent photojournalism in Helsinki's Kamppi Centre. That's where I encountered this handsome leopard.

The label said:

"A leopard walks at night through the Aarey Milk Colony, a recreational, residential and farming settlement adjacent to Sanjay Gandhi National Park in suburban Mumbai. Some 35 leopards live in the park and increasingly venture into surrounding areas in search of prey such as the stray dogs that gather around garbage dumps. This raises the potential for human-leopard conflict, with reports both of attacks on humans and leopards caught in poaching traps."

It's my Friday! It may have only been a three day work week but it really felt much longer. Tomorrow I haven't much planned, I believe Ottawa is supposed to get a bunch of snow over the course of the day; so a day in sounds like a smart plan to me. I've been meaning to organize my closets for the past while so maybe I'll get to that. I'm pretty sure I could do that sitting down, which would give the injured leg a bit of a rest too. Yes, maybe that's what I'll do.

Or, I may just end up on the couch reading a book.

On another note, I was given my mid-session evaluation for my French course today and am doing very well. I wasn't too sure about the course this time around, and while the teacher gave me a few things to concentrate on, she also had some positive things to say. It`s nice to actually feel like I'm learning in this session.

Hope everyone has had a great Wednesday.

I decided to head down to the railroad tracks yesterday morning to catch the Amtrak Empire Builder on its way to Chicago. Instead, at about the time I expected it, this BNSF freight train showed up instead. This was cause for some optimism, because a northbound train would have told me that Amtrak would be running on the other track a mile away. However, after waiting another half hour, I decided I didn't care to find out how late it was running, and went home with this one and a few shots of the snow-covered trees.

I took the wrong road

That led to the wrong tendencies

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time

For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme

On the wrong day of the wrong week

I used the wrong method with the wrong technique

Bracknell Forest Council have awarded all of their tendered service contracts to Courtney Buses, from Monday 13th July 2015. Currently, some are run by Courtney and others by First Berkshire (First run 53/153, 151, 108). Some are direct transfers to Courtney, while other routes disappear among revisions to services. First's last day was Saturday 11th July 2015, because the council have decided to axe all of the Sunday services.

Courtney are introducing two new Bracknell liveries for their won council services, lemon and blue and lemon and red - to go with their existing lemon and lime (171/2) and lemon and peach (194) commercial services).

Solo YJ62 FCC has been painted lemon and blue, and is seen here prior to Courtney's start on the Bracknell routes, substituting for a 'coffee' branded bus on Wokingham-area route 128.
