Kristine Lombardi is a friend of mine whom I met in the Montclair, New Jersey Write Group. She's a professional illustrator who has worked for numerous clients as a freelancer. She's done illustrations for various magazines and companies.
In January 2010, she led a workshop for the Write Group on getting children's books published. Kristine enjoys doing illustrations for children's books and collecting vintage children's books form the 1960s.

For the final program of the 2017 Eat Drink Read Write festival, Wenonah High School Culinary Arts Program students show off their cooking skills by performing a demonstration and food tasting of dishes they have mastered during the school year.
The chefs for the night are Asia Tatum, Jordan Young, Drusilla Foster, Juahmun Sturgeon, Janiya Wright, Aaron Harris, and Alejandro Guzman. Another member of the team, Tytianna Day, helps serve attendees.
The students demonstrate a fruit salad with honey dressing, cinnamon sweet potatoes, and a chicken vegetable stir-fry. Attendees get sample and recipes to take home.
This story pretty much writes itself. These two bull-male shopping carts engaged in a mating ritual going back as far as a peacock displaying his brightly-colored tail feathers. In order to display dominance to the female shopping cart, bull males will often times circle each other for hours. As this display continues the bull males will become disoriented and dizzy. Sometimes the bull males will circle themselves into a stupor and lose the contents of its basket shaped midsection. The last bull male shopping cart to remain on its wheels will be rewarded and allowed to mate with the cow female shopping cart. Thus, ensuring that the more superior genetic DNA continues within the species. On occasions, both bull males are knocked off their wheels. Without the proper appendages to become upright, they both will moss out on make sweet-passionate love to the cow-female shopping cart cart and eventually, both shopping cart will perish. I'm going to write about Snagov Palace mainly as it related to changing times and Michael Jackson.
For people of a certain age -- namely my age -- the Cold War exists in our memory. (Very quick lesson for those for whom the Cold War means nothing: it was the era from 1945-1989 when there was the threat of nuclear war, Communism vs. Capitalism, "Us" vs. "Them.")
Romania, and almost all of Eastern Europe, was under the thumb of the communist USSR, but at the end of the 1980s, that was crumbling.
At the end of the 1980s, Michael Jackson -- who was as big as the Beatles or Elvis during the 1980s, decided to tour Eastern Europe. The Bucharest concert is probably one of the most famous from that tour. (It's worth watching on YouTube.) On a side note, my guide for this Snagov tour was actually at that concert, which I found very cool. But, I digress.
When Michael was here, he made an appearance at the Parliament in town, where he mistakenly said, "I love you, Budapest." The palace here is where he stayed while in country. He just rented the whole place. Here in Bucharest, there is also a Michael Jackson monument (small one). Budapest, too, has a Michael Jackson Memorial Tree for the exact same reason. In this part of the world, they associate Michael Jackson with helping to end communism.
