Performance at the United Nations Office at Geneva - Feb 23, 24, 25.
In 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Over 50 years later, in a joint project with Professor Kendall Thomas, The Forsythe Company focuses on the act of inscribing basic rules for both the individual and society. «Human Writes» is a performative installation that reflects the history of human rights and the continuing obstacles to their full implementation.

I have the worst day ever *still panic*
I had lab today (yeah, I have school 7/7 now ~) and I was scheduled from 11am until 3pm. However, we couldn't finish by that time, so we had to stay and work 'til 6pm (I could leave but I couldn't allow myself to go home and rest while other people were staying and working to cover me, so well, I stayed). When we was finally done, I got to my car, and found out that the car had broken down (what could've been worst???) It couldn't start. I called my friends for help and they came over, tried to jump start it, but it didn't work. Then I called my house owner, who was a mechanist himself, to ask for help. He talked to my friends then they tried something then my car started up. I drove home and now am sitting on my bed, writing this. But I have to leave my car at home so the mechanist can come and check my car. I have class tomorrow and next week ~ still figure out a way to get to school...
Related to this analgesic function is swearing’s well-known cathartic power. When you drop your grocery bag into a puddle or close the window on your finger, geez Louise is not going to help you much.
Fuck is what you need, the more so, Adams says, because it doesn’t just express an emotion; it states a philosophical truth. Bridge Street, Cambridge. I was walking by here at 6.00pm today when there was a bang and this brand new Mini (08 plate, ie two month old vehicle) was then pushed over to where I was passing. So? Well, this is Cambridge and not only do you have to negotiate one-ways but you also have to be aware of bollards which rise up from the road and attack unwary drivers!
That's what happened with the unlucky family in this new car. You see, only taxis and buses can come along this road and the bollards automatically go down for them. As soon as they have passed the barriers start to go up. This car was coming along this road when the barrier was down but was hit as it tried to pass. That was the bang I heard. Startled by the bang, I instinctively reached for my gun... er camera ... and shot in all directions in defence:-)
On inspection, the occupants were OK but in a state of shock but the car, as far as I could see, was a total write-off and beyond reasonable repair. Sad. I am aware of one fatality in Cambridge in this sort of accident.

Speech of a real leader in wartime
One of my cards with the most striking text about war. I don't think she would have gone to censorship but she traveled under letter and it's a officer who writes. This text speaks of the reality of war without lying. There will still be 4 years of conflict to endure. This officer worries about these men and does not persevere them just like objects which was unfortunately very widespread in the French army at the beginning of the war with unnecessary massacres.
If the name is well huijer I cannot find a match in the file of the dead for France.

Dear friend,
Am still amazed to be alive without a single scratch, I wonder how I could have passed intact in the midst of the rain of bullets and shells that assaulted us. Nothing moved me ..... There are all the same ... unforgettable, I spoke loudly (at the highest moment of the battle) to my men, I encouraged them and so much that I have had from the beginning only one man injured, so they have in me immense confidence and sometimes say to me: << If you get killed what will we do >> I assure you that I am happy to have been able to inspire such confidence and I am happy with the affection they have for me, it is true that I am attached to them terribly. Those who have not seen the war will never be able to ... get even a rather vague idea of the desolation of the looting, of the death and of the devastation of the region which suffers it. The shells are raining down right now, but we are so overwhelmed that we risk nothing. The Germans ... we will pursue them the victory follows us. Courage to all. Suis encore tout étonné d'être vivant sans une seule égratignure, je me demande comment j'ai pu passé intact au milieu de la pluie de balles et d'obus qui nous ont assaillis. Rien ne m'a émotionné .... . Il y a tout de même des ... inoubliables, je parlais au plus fort à mes hommes, je les ai encouragés et tellement que je n'ai n'ai eu depuis le début qu'un homme de bléssés, aussi ont-ils en moi une confiance immense et me disent parfois : << Si vous vous faites tuer que ferons nous >> Je vous assure que je suis heureux d'avoir pu inspirer une telle confiance et je suis heureux de l'affection qu'ils ont pour moi, il est vrai que je me suis attaché à eux terriblement. The automatic writing project started out as an activity among friends and locals. I would write a line someone else would write a line and so on... Then people would overhear us and ask if they could participate and write something too (which surprised me) of course I said "yes!" At that point I realized that lots of people have something to say. I started asking strangers to add entries, then I graduated to offering people $1.00 to participate, some people do not accept the dollar and some pay me a $1.00 (paying it forward). It's becoming quite a lovely, surprising and compelling project. People from many walks of life are participating: homeless, a news reporter, academics, students, doctors, drug addicts, lawyers, tourists etc... People have written things in my journal that they'd never say out loud, not to anyone. Some of it's so sad, some intriguing, hilarious and so on... At the end of the day, every one of these people understand that their entries are being uploaded to the internet and are comforted in knowing that they will be heard. I have no idea where this is going, but it's going just fine! FYI: English is not everyone's first language here. I will be illustrating the book/journal after the text is done. I hope that everyone who reads these entries learns something about people, mostly that we never know what someone else is going through.

Har netop tilmeldt mig Writely, der egentlig har været i luften i over et år, men da google opkøbte dem i foråret valgte de, at stoppe for tilmeldingerne et stykke tid. Nu er de tilbage og jeg er temmelig nysgerrig. Er der nogen her, der har erfaringer at dele?

Kim Dunstan writes: It is Sunday afternoon on HMAS MELBOURNE [II], circa 1960, and after a busy week of flying and exercising with other ships there is a pause for the ship’s company to relax and soak-up a little sunshine. This is important as many sailors working below decks may go for days without seeing the light of day. Besides, the sea is like a millpond and the ship is about a day’s sailing out of Singapore - and a bloke needs to build-up his energy for a trip ashore. For others on the ship this is an opportunity to write a letter home, to do some study, read a book or do some laundry. Even the Fairey Gannets, with their wings folded, appear to be enjoying the breeze and a well earned rest.
