About the archive:
The Nicholson Museum holds over 1800 glass-plate negatives taken by Woodhouse while in Greece in 1890s and early 1900s. A small portion of the archive also includes photographs of his family in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. The collection documents important archaeological sites, significant landscapes of the Greek mainland, contemporary buildings and the people he met along the way. His archive is a rich resource capturing many sites pre-archaeological excavation and before modern industrial development. Some of the photographs were published by Woodhouse in his book 'Aetolia: its geography, topography, and antiquities' published in 1897. His desire to capture Greece on 'film', was simply put in his introduction: "History only attains its full value by borrowing actuality from geography and topography". The archive shows his love not only for the sites but also for the people and spirit of Greece.
About the project:
We are asking you to contribute to our documentation of this collection and assist us with the identification of the hundreds of different monuments and places in Greece. The title of each photograph will include the museum registration number (NM2007.##.##) and may already include a place name where museum staff or Woodhouse himself have titled the image.
All of our flikr contributors will be acknowledged when the collection is published through our online collections at the completion of the project.

Brought the new Sony a7r along with me as a second camera to this past weekend's Vietnamese wedding here in Atlanta for testing. Primarily shot with my Canon 5D Mark III but had the Sony around my neck all day for quick grabs here and there using the Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 ZA and a few photos at the reception using the Metabones EF to E Mark III adapter and a Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro lens. Processed in Lightroom 5 RC.

The Examination Schools building was built in 1882 specifically for the holding of examinations and lectures. The architect was Sir Thomas Jackson Bart. R.A. and this building, considered by many to be his masterpiece, brought him from obscurity to prominence in architecture.
Pesvner writes of this: "Here is a frontispiece in the Oxford tradition but detailed as none has been detailed before. Especially the top stage is the least disciplined design of Jackson's.

In 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Over 50 years later, in a joint project with Professor Kendall Thomas, The Forsythe Company focuses on the act of inscribing basic rules for both the individual and society. «Human Writes» is a performative installation that reflects the history of human rights and the continuing obstacles to their full implementation.

Long write-up for today's batch of awesomeness.
First off. This whole covid thing, the election, working from home, not being able to go out, not seeing friends/family, etc. Has me, and I'm sure everyone else frazzled. Having a project to work on, in my case hiking out and shooting photos of graffiti on trains has been the one thing that's keeping me sane at this point. Hoping to see some new pieces from writers that I respect is like opening a pack of baseball cards and finding your favorite players rookie card for me. Yeah, it sounds goofy, but I've been having fun, staying sane, and seeing and capturing some amazing pieces of rolling art.
So I had this weird Monday vacation day on 11-2-2020. I decided to drive out to one my my benching spots and hang out for the day.
The plan was to set up a time lapse camera, and then just hang out and bench freights for 5-6 hours. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and a slight breeze, 88F. high. No clouds makes for a very boring time lapse between trains coming by. I also only brought my little Small Rig clamp for the time lapse camera and couldn't decide where I wanted to clamp it. I should have just brought a tripod.
Out for a few hours before the BNSF guys in their truck rolled up, got out and started walking toward me. "Great!" I thought. They're going to try and chase me away. Nope, they walked over to one set of tracks, walked across the bridge inspecting the tracks, then under the bridge inspecting the bridge, got in their truck and left. I like that. I don't bother you. You don't bother me.
A while later I see tree guy coming back home. I don't know his name, but there's a guy who lives in/under a tree that's next to the trail I hike in on. Once he's in there you'd never know it. I've seen him, he's seen me, and we don't bother each other.
The whole time I'm there I'm using my little Tascam recorder to record train audio every time one comes by so I have audio for the slideshow videos I've been uploading on YouTube. Well, this time I forgot it out there. Didn't dump my photos until Tuesday night and discovered it missing. Woke up early, drove out and it was still there. It recorded for almost 5 more hours before the batteries died. Glad to have it back, I thought tree guy might have found it.

On March 17th, 2011, 319 Scholes in Brooklyn, New York will present the final project from Internet curatorial team JstChillin. Thirty-five artists will participate in the show, all of whom have been featured on JstChillin.org, and most of whom will be in person on opening night. Read/Write attempts to capture and translate the spirit of their year and a half long online exhibition dating October 2009 - February 2011. The exhibition will run from March 17th - March 30, 2011."This technology was meant to expand human communication, but you're not even human any more! What you've become terrifies me.
